Challenge: Space

 

Round: One

 

Description: The people of Earth have developed the technology to explore space.  They now have many people exploring and trying to find other planets with lifeforms in order to trade with (trade technology, etc.).  One such crew has been on a ship for over a year, exploring farther than anyone else has before.  They meet an alien spaceship, but it turns out to be as friendly as first thought.  Now the crew has to struggle to survive, reclaim their ship, and make it home safely.

 

(That is the basic premise for the story, but I do not care how you describe it)

 

Character Suggestions and Positions: (I wrote this thinking about Bigbang’s personalities, but you can substitute another 5-member group if you wish.  Like Shinee, or others)

 

Kwon Jiyong(nickname: G-Dragon): Captain of ship.

 

Choi Seunghyun (nickname: Top): First mate/Weapons specialist

 

Dong Youngbae (nickname: Taeyang): Navigator/helmsman (in charge of flying ship and knowing where its going)

 

Kang Daesung: Communications/Information engineer.  (This person ends up alone.  Whoever you choose for this position must be sensitive to being alone, not as outgoing; when alone panics, over worries.  I would just like to see one character have to go through ‘h*ll and back’ in order to grow as a person)

 

Lee Seunghyun (nickname: Seungri): Ship engineer (in charge of keeping the ship running, including plumbing/electrical.  Knows the ship inside and out)

 

In the story, the members get split up and there ends up being two groups of two people, with one person alone.  I separated the members the way I did so there could be opposites grouped together.  If you choose another group, please keep these character ‘conflicts’ in mind.

 

Top and Taeyang: They are both good friends with G-Dragon, but do not get along with each other.  They get paired up and have to overcome differences and jealousy of each other’s friendship with G-Dragon.  Taeyang is jealous that G-Dragon chose Top as First mate; while Top is jealous that G-Dragon consults Taeyang about all sorts of decisions that Top thinks should only be between Captain and First Mate.

 

G-Dragon and Seungi: Seungri feels that he has to prove himself as an able engineer to G-Dragon; while G-Dragon thinks of Seungri as a kid, not ready for responsibility.  But because of Seungri’s knowledge of the ship, G-Dragon has to depend on him to navigate through the ship and develops a respect for Seungri as a smart and capable engineer; while Seungri realizes that G-Dragon is a fair captain and worthy of being respected.

 

Daesung: Because he is not the type who likes to be alone, he suffers the most because he must deal with the knowledge that the rest of the crew could be dead and that he may die at any time as well.  Goes through some rough patches of depression and fear.  Develops courage to decide to risk his life to regain control of the ship and get it back home (and hopefully help his fellow crew members if they are still alive).

 

Format: You can do this as a longer one-shot/one chapter story or divide it up into chapters.  It depends on how much time you want to spend on character development, etc.  It is your decision.

 

Plot:  You can make these into chapters or sections.  I just broke it down into what I believed to be appropriate break points.

 

Part One: The crew is on the ship.  Find an alien spaceship.  Contact it, get a positive greeting and so the alienship docks.  Top and Taeyang go down to meet the aliens.  The aliens attack; Top and Taeyang run for their lives.

 

Part Two: Seungri, G-Dragon and Deasung at helm, lose contact with Top and Taeyang.  G-Dragon decides to go down there to investigate; Seungri comes along, Daesung left.  G-Dragon and Seungri walk into an ambush, barely make it out alive.  Daesung loses contact with them, then aliens come and he is forced to run for his life as well.  Aliens now have control of ship.

 

Part Three: Each of the ‘groups’ now has to deal with fighting the aliens that are hunting them, while having to learn to work together (or alone, in Daesung’s case).  They also try to form plans for defeating aliens and finding the other crew members (communications blocked between the crew and to Earth).  [This part can go on for as long as you want, or be broken into as many chapters as you want, just depending on how much character development you want to focus on, how many ‘close calls’ with the aliens, etc.  I would suggest that each ‘group’ get its own part/chapter all about them.  After that, it’s up to you]

 

Part Four: End up finding each other, regroup, and then storm the aliens(fight scene).  Aliens are defeated, although one of the crew members is injured (your choice who).  Have control of their ship, as well as the alien ship.  Finally get a message back to their command center on Earth, who has been trying to contact the crew for a while.
