Kpop: Harbinger of death to OPM?

Korean pop or simple K-pop has risen as a global music genre in the last 2 years.  With hits like “Nobody” “Gee” “I Am the Best” “Sorry Sorry” and “Gangnam Style”, there is no doubt that Kpop has made its mark in the global music scene.

Here in the Philippines, kpop has become one of the more dominating genres, fan bases grow more each day and album sells like hot pancakes. To many kpop fans all those are testaments of their unwavering support to their idols. To others, it is a contributing factor as to why OPM is dead.

OPM is dead. This is something that I simple cannot understand. To add more to my dilemma is that some thinks that Kpop killed OPM. If OPM is dead, then why the recent number 1 video on Myx is OPM? And why are there only 2 kpop groups in the chart and both failed to become number 1, to think that both groups are one of the more popular groups.

Myx Mo! 2012, to me it is a testament to OPM being alive and staying strong. So, No OPM is not dead, and it won’t die today or tomorrow.

So yeah stop blaming kpop and just enjoy the music.Kpop:  Harbinger of death to OPM?
