KIM SUNGGYU | ANOTHER ME | 60 SEC MV

TheHotDog

Can I just say that this is amazing? Okay, if you guys are wondering why I'm typing in correct grammar instead of being lazy--it's because I feel like Gyu deserves this and I am going to extend the courtesy.

So, first of all the album--it is amazing I mean the album cover alone is freaking beautiful. The cleverness of using shapes and lines to spell out Gyu's name? Only Woollim and only INFINITE.

Shine is one of my favorite songs on the album--the other being, of course, 60 Sec. That song actually does the album justice--most title songs aren't as good as the other songs on the album so I am very satisfied with this album. Shine it's got this almost British rock-esque vibe--it is most definitely rock but it isn't hardcore, you know? His voice in the song is very low pitched and it sounds phenomenal--most of the time his voice is a bit higher pitched compared to Woohyun's lower bass-like voice. I like the song because it portrays the feelings with little words--almost two minutes of the four and a half minute song is guitar riff.

60 Sec MV--it was so heartwrenching. Not in the sense that it's 'so sad someone died!' No--more like when someone understands they can't have someone or something they want and so no matter how much it kills them they let go. That understanding is the probably the most painful part of letting someone go. Myungsoo, L, portrayed that very well--I also like the parallel theme. The girl was underneath the shelter while it rained and he came and they walked off together when in reality he walked out of the cafe alone. Notice that the mood and the lighting is a lot darker than when he went to pick her up with the umbrella--its symbolizing that he's a lot gloomier without her even though he was never with her. The tears really got to me--it wasn't downright sobbing--it was just tears, sad tears of understanding. Beautiful really. And I really like how little Gyu appears in the video--a lot of music videos are ruined because even though they have a storyline but it gets ruined by someone sticking their face in the camera singing 'LALALALA~!' In the end, you can see that the girl cries--maybe deep down she knows, or feels, what he is feeling inside. I understand how he can be so emotional about leaving her even when he was never really with her. He wasn't watching it like a movie like we were--he was feeling his emotions, the love and the happiness, when he was around her. Anyways, this MV really did the song justice.

The song--Oh my god. It's a heavier rock song than Shine was; can I just say that I am so happy that Gyu is going back to his roots. As most of you know Gyu was originally in a band called Beat--now, Beat was a hardcore band it wasn't some band like the Jonas Brothers; so seeing him go back to that is really elating. Gyu never wanted to be an idol and the only reason why he joined Woollim was because of Nell--they are a pretty famous rock band in Korea, legend really. Gyu's voice is of course not as quiet as it was in Shine because, again, it is a loud song to convey his emotions. He sang the song so well--I normally don't cry from songs about love, hell, I don't cry from songs about love, ever, but this song, and the corresponding MV, made me tear up.

Anyways, Inspirit, or not, watch the music video and listen to the album.
