Wrong Korean

I doubt anyone will read this. But whatever. I just have a rant about some stories on Asianfanfics and I thought this blog was the most appropriate place to write it in. I actually have no idea how the blogging system works on this site. BUT ON TO THE RANT.

I'm not, in any way, a good writer at all. I just write to get ideas I have out of my head. It's also nice to get feedback from strangers. But my writing has a long, long, looong way to go before it can reach mediocre.

My pet peeve doesn't really have to do with story content or how smoothly a story goes anyway.

It's... It's... THE MISUSE OF KOREAN. GOODNESS.

First, I've noticed some writers will add "neh?" to the end of a sentence. For example, "Hyung, it's so nice, neh?"
This is Japanese. Not Korean.
And I'm not irritated because it's a Japanese thing. Trust me. I'm Korean, but I take Japanese at school and I am in love with the language and culture.
It's just.. I know it's about being cute and all that, but it's wrong. Holy cow, I feel like I'm going to get hated on because of this (if anyone even reads it lolol). It's just.. leaves a bad aftertaste after I read it. I think an equivalent to "neh?" can be "geuchi?" or "eung?" The first means "Right?" and the second can mean anything from "Yes." to "What?" to "Right?" depending on the tone of your voice and the context it's used it.

Another thing is the use of the word "ani" which means "no."
I'm not going to get into a whole grammar lesson about it, but.. You can't just stick the word "ani" to the beginning of a sentence all the time.

And there are also times when people switch between formal and informal when they type romaji Korean.. Yeeeah.. Also incorrect. So, like I said, I'm Korean, but the only Korean I really do use are titles like "hyung" or exclamatory words like "Yah!" I don't even use "babo" because.. I don't know.. it feels weird reading that amongst all the English.

I just wish people who don't know Korean wouldn't use it in their stories. And if they really wanted to, they could find some way to get it checked..

Haha, incorrect Korean annoys me more than incorrect English.

I really dislike when someone act like they understand the language! I feel annoyed whenever I see words like annyeong, oppa and more! Just write English when the story is in English!
