A list of favorite authors and why.
Here are my favorite authors, in no particular order, because I love you all.

I first came across her fanfiction, “Kyuhyun… It’s been hard on you,” while browsing the kyuwook tag. At the time, I was completely obsessed with Super Junior (I still am of course) but I was simple-minded and believed everything was smiles and giggles throughout their life. This story was a brutal into reality, I wasn’t sure if my mind could take it. It was the first story I subscribed to.
You see, Kyuhyun joined Super Junior months after they debuted, but I assumed they welcomed him gladly. Nooooope. This story is more of a chronicle than just a fanfiction. This story teaches what it’s truly like to feel alone in a group of others, and still remain as strong as they can be. This is not a weak Kyuhyun, this is a very strong Kyuhyun. I admire him because he really is human.
I’ve recommended this story to my friends but for a long time they didn’t want to read it because “it was too long.” Finally after some (lots) of my nagging they read through it and agreed with me. I also talked to both my parents about it. My dad is really into K-dramas and T-ara so I e-mailed him a link to the story and he enjoyed it immensely. (funny at first he thought I wrote it but lol) He told me that Janie has a great talent and it’s good that she isn’t wasting it. He says if she ever writes a book he wants a signed copy :D My mom, on the other hand, doesn’t like anything to do with K-pop but I still tried to get her to read this. After the first few chapters she was amazed by everything she learned about Korea. She always thought it was more or less like Japan with everything very eccentric but it’s not like Japan at all, really. She got into a very intellectual discussion with my grandfather (a Buddhist Priest) about Asia as a whole and how their culture is both amazing and terrifying. Now she wants to visit there, at least once. :)

The second story of Janie’s I want to put out there is “Under Red Lanterns.” Like she says in her description, it is completely different from “Kyuhyun… It’s been hard on you.” This story takes place in an alternate universe, in the point of view of Leeteuk. The story is still in the baby stage, from what I can tell. It’s not as popular as its big brother, KIBHOY, but don’t worry! As more updates come subscribers will come flooding in.
I really, really like this story because the emotions conveyed are so strong. It has the reader looking back at themselves and realizing that they take everything for granted. It tells of a reality no one wants to live and no one wants to talk about. It’s an opened book everyone ignores. Janie has taken this reality and shoved it in front of the reader’s eyes, letting them absorb the information quietly and subtly word by word. The characters used aren’t pitied, but establish connections with the reader. Well done, Janie. Well done.

I first read Sammery’s twoshot (at the time it was a oneshot) “Lonely Birthday.” I had just jumped aboard the Keytae/Taekey ship and frantically searched for fanfiction. I have to say this was a favorite for a year and more ^^ It was written around the time I joined too~ Like janie6789, Sammery has an amazing talent that I highly recommend she share with the world. I was shedding tears that I claimed were allergies as I read this. It was too adorable for words, I couldn’t comprehend anything for the rest of the week. I snuck in to see my friend’s subscriptions and they subscribed to read this too! <3 That is pretty big because they ship Jongkey and don’t really like Key and Taemin together. Sammery, you’re changing tides!!

My favorite fanfiction of hers is “The Showdown.” It is band!AU but with a twist. Instead of the meeting and the first kiss and the promise of forever from the two boys, this fic takes place after they are caught.
It was very suspenseful through all the chapters, I don’t regret staying up until five in the morning to read every last detail over Thanksgiving break last year. The characters actually acted the opposite of how we would expect them to, which was a pleasant addition. The most heartwarming thing was at the end, she told the readers that it was based on an assault to her gay friend. This friend also wrote a letter to the readers after looking at the story himself. Everything combined just seems to tear at your heart strings.
Personally, it made me think of my friend Jeff. But that’s a story for another time. Rest in Peace.

“The Showdown” doesn’t end there. The sequel is coming to a close as I write this, with “100 Prompts (The Showdown sequel…kinda).” It is 100 chapters of pure love as Key and Taemin live out the rest of their lives. I’m crying now as it’s reaching an end, but I guess that means the next story will be started and I’ll have something else to look forward to.

If you are tired of my angst recommendations, please take your time to read this fabulous fanfic, “Nervousness”!
I guess it could be categorized as crack, but it’s a go-with-the-flow kind of crack. This Exo fic certainly does not have Kris doing nasty things with an alpaca *shudders* Nope, this is what we would call…males in love.
The main premise is that Kai develops a crush on Lu Han but he doesn’t want to do anything about it. The other members (well some of them) want to help him. But they fail. Oh my gosh they fail.
Everything is stereotyped and cliché (but this was written well before what is love) but it’s hilarious and I still reread it. Amazing, helium <3 I need to stalk your fanfictions more. ^^

My favorite fanfiction of hers, to this day, is Heart Trilogy. For now I’ll talk about the first installment, “Soft Heart.”
I have never cried so hard in my life.
I questioned my existence.

Ok that last one wasn’t so dramatic to me. (Sorry!)
But I was having a really hard time thinking everything through until you posted a notice saying there would be a sequel. I got so happy when I read that in the car, you have no idea.

The next one I loved beyond belief was “Random Acts of Kindness.” I like stories of couples from another person’s point of view. Also, it appeals to the majority of AFF, because it is told in a teenager’s point of view with problems like hectic schedules, boyfriends, and that teacher you don’t really like but seems kinda cool. The story was original and creative, I wasn’t disappointed one bit through this story.

This author is in fact a man, which caused some confusion in the beginning. I think it was this author who inspired me to start writing. His only story so far, “Love from Afar and Love Returned,” is a masterpiece. He writes in both perspectives of Kai and Lu Han, and tells a heartwarming story about how two boys fall in love and what they intend to do about it. I don’t have any bone to pick with it, I just wish he’d update more. It’s a great story and because I’m selfish I want more of it…

My favorite story of hers is “You are My Angel With Benefits.” Set in a fantasy AU, Kris is an angel addicted to and Chanyeol is a human with a broken heart. I think you can guess how it plays out.

I really don’t know what to say about this author. Her stories are beautiful, just beautiful. My favorite was “Best Friends…Right?”
I don’t ship Eunhae, I’m more of an Eunmin shipper. But this got me out of my comfort zone to a point where I became completely comfortable with Super Junior as a whole. Thank you!
This story revolves around Eunhyuk and Donghae and the progression of their friendship into love. There are a few steamy chapters but nothing too big until the end (read the whole story you erts) and I just couldn’t control myself when it ended. It’s forever locked inside my heart.

Truthfully I think this author lost her password or something because they haven’t updated anything in forever. And there’s nothing on her blog that indicates she left. It’s been…a year. I hope she’s well.
The only story I would recommend right now (because of its completion) is “When the Kid Got Involved.” Yes, it is Zhoury. And it’s also . (uncle nephew not as bad as father and son, but I respect those people who have their boundaries!)
I thought it was very well written for a fic. The road down was smooth and the after effects were realistic. Ending was surprising but cherished.

One of the best Kyuwook shippers I have ever seen. The story I would most recommend would be “Go crazy, Get hurt, be trapped.” It’s AU, and it’s wonderful. Ryeowook is not the cute boy we know and love, he is the sassy heart of stone. Kyuhyun is…Kyuhyun. XD

The fic I absolutely love is “Seventh Touch.” Everything around it screams creativity and I’m bursting with joy every time I see an update. <3 It’s very interesting. Ryeowook is a troubled student haunted by ghosts and Kibum IS a ghost. Leeteuk and Kangin are detectives investigating a recent murder at Ryeowook’s school. It’s very good!

I am in love with her writing.
The fic “Every Time, Every Moment,” is filled with heart pounding suspense. Again, I stayed up late to read this, and no regrets. So beautiful and even comedic in the beginning! Ryeowook is still coming to terms with his uality and Kyuhyun is a delinquent.

Her story, “The Lowdown,” was amazing to read. I made friends with her as she was writing it, and we’ve made great memories. Es baby I’m always here!
Taemin suffers from depression in this story, but he keeps it all bottled up inside. Eventually SHINee realizes what’s going on and tries everything in their power to help him.

I don’t know too much about this author. But the way they write made me fall in love <3 Her story “3,652 Days” was the first Krisyeol I’ve ever read. Another roller-coaster fic, but highly recommended. This fic has it all- the pushing away, the love, you name it really. It has it all.

“The Carnival of the Laughing Ghosts” progresses slowly, introducing a love triangle fairly early on, but not too early. Lu Han sees Kai being mistreated in the circus and immediately joins to protect him.

This Kaihan AU, “Game,” is different because it really just takes place in a different time period. Kai is a nobleman and Lu Han is just a servant. As they grow up, they learn what happens when two men love each other and what it leads to.

“Baby Don’t Cry,” …made me cry.
I know there aren’t a lot of Chenlay shippers out there, but I’m begging you to give this a chance. It’s frustrating and sad and you get wound up in their emotions but it’s well worth it. Lay is getting over a broken heart and Chen begs him to use his body for comfort. The feelings are so confusing but the characters make it all the better.

I’ve only read one fanfiction. “Bruises Heal” is a slice-of-life story that talks about the time Taemin was bullied in school. There wasn’t any real romance in it, but there was strong brotherly love.

I guess I just really wanted to share some of the authors and stories I really admired, for different reasons. You know what you should do if you’re reading this? Make a list of your own. After I post this I’m linking everyone to this post and showing them what an inspiration they are to me. I hope other people do this, a great way of motivation is telling the authors you love them!
