Style: Loose; comfortable. These are the two words that would come to mind when they see what she would be wearing a regular basis. » [ off and on camera ] Off camera, Sooyeon is rather quiet and introverted, preferring to be the person who listens in the conversation rather than the person who talks the most. She would be asked many questions (“why are you so quiet?” or “are you okay?”) simply because of the wallflower appearance she has and the lack of emotion she has on her face. She isn’t really sad most of the time - which people assume she is - but she just doesn’t have any point of smiling all the time, along with the fact that her true personality only appears when she’s with the people she’s close to. Always polite to the people she meets, she’s quite perceptive, always noting other people’s actions and can effortlessly tell who’s lying to her and who’s not. She’s usually the first one to find out secrets by reading people like a book when they interact with another, but doesn’t go about telling anyone - she simply accepts the fact and will move on. On camera, she has a strong stage presence, a 360 degree change from her quiet persona off camera. Her almost nonexistent charisma off stage appears subconsciously and will seep into her dancing and singing. On variety shows, she’s quite funny with her witty and sarcastic humor. Despite all this, she doesn’t like too much attention on her, only talking when spoken to or asked to, nicknamed “the quiet one” compared to other members. If insulted or criticized, her feelings don’t show, not one bit, and she keeps closed, taking in the burden without complaints; afterwards, she would work harder to become better. Due to the strict family environment she grew up with and her grandmother practically raising her, she’s more mature than what most people act like at her age. She listens to music that her grandmother listens to and enjoys being around older people than younger people. She understands things better than most people and is level-headed, rarely ever getting mad and would be told that she talks mature for her age. She has a unique view of the world; she sees how people really act like when they think that no one’s looking and see the world for how it is, all the good and the bad, and doesn’t judge. She always has a way with taking care of another person, calling some of her group members her “children” and cooking for them. But this doesn’t mean she does everything; she can be a disciplinarian when it comes to procrastinating, saying that when she tells you to get something done, you get it done. In serious situations, when there’s a scandal of some sort and she or other members are bombarded with questions of it, then she’s the first to react with her quick and believable response. She thinks about what to do next strategically and always has an analysis of consequences with every choice she makes.

She’s naturally generous in her nature and is the one in the group that would always be there to listen to the problems of other members, giving them advice even if she has never experienced the situation. She gives off the feeling of being the person that you would be able to tell everything and she wouldn’t judge you in anyway, but would keep quiet about it and would understand. She doesn’t take compliments very well, always pointing out that another person is better than her, like her group members. She’s really good at making people feel guilty, whether it be intentional or not, with the compliments she has for them: she subtly directs the attention to another group member by complimenting them so much that they would be awkward and be shy about it. When she’s sick, she doesn’t tell anyone, but keeps her problems to herself, cooking for herself and taking medicine for herself - she isn’t a babied member. She would go to work, practice, and perfect anything that she has a mistake on even if she isn't feeling well, unless it's severe like throwing up.

» [ perfectly imperfect ] Although some people strive for perfection, there will always be the flaws and Sooyeon is no exception. She’s selfless, but this could also affect herself and she wouldn’t allow others to help her, preferring to keep her problems drawn. She spends all her time helping other people before she could help herself and that puts a toll herself, making her more tired and unable to perform properly. She has a hard time facing problems, digressing the real situation by talking about something else that is completely out of subject, but at the same time, she hates to hold out choices and likes to make the agreement then and there. Occasionally, she can get rather competitive to things she knows she’s good at, like ballet or performing, and hates the feeling of losing; she’s stubborn. Sure, she can hide this trait of hers, but it’s still there. Her stubborn trait could be a blessing and a curse to her. Her stubbornness could be the one that drives her to do the things she’s passionate about, but sometimes she’s stubborn about the wrong things. Another thing to take note of her is her breaking point; it might not come to a person at first because of the flexibility she has with people, but she has one. She doesn't scream or physically hurt you, rather, she uses words. Her eyes would be relaxed and face blank, but what escapes her lips could blackmail a person. All of the things she has observed from them and discovered of them—like their secrets—will be told in front of their face. She makes these words hurt because they are truth. • ♈ I remember

Background: Born in Seoul, South Korea, Sooyeon was usually that normal, average girl with an older brother and two loving parents. Her older brother, was, however, the maknae of TVXQ, Shim Changmin. Near the time her brother debuted, she auditioned for SM Entertainment and had been accepted. While she was a trainee, she was known as her "Changmin's Little Sister," where people only knew her for the title and not the work she put into her training. After a three years of being a trainee under SME, she decided to quit in 2006 and returned to her regular life, focusing in her education. However, she started auditioning again for various companies in 2009 and was about to give up. During this time, she developed a habit to go to the local park and sing a song to release pent-up emotions every time she needed to. After a failed audition, she went to the park to sing, "Halo." A Top Media scout happened to pass by a accumulating crowd that gathered around her and afterwards, he handed her Top Media's business card; it was a relatively new company she hadn't known about so the next week, she auditioned and had been accepted.

Shim Daeho | 53 | pilot | His relationship isn’t exactly close to Sooyeon, but he isn’t distant to her either - it’s in the middle. Due to his job, he doesn’t see her quite a lot, but has a mutual understanding with her. She has a more direct and blunt personality so they can talk about anything.

Park Eunkyung | 51 | housewife | Sooyeon, to be frank, was "mommy's little girl." She fully supported Changmin and Sooyeon ambitions of being an idol and spoiled Sooyeon to death. She's a worrywart and always calls Sooyeon to ask where she is, who she's with, and where she is going.

Shim Changmin | 24 | TVXQ member | Like any brother and sister, they bicker occasionally, but they love each other all the more. Changmin teases her and complains when she asks him to do something, but he still does it. "A hypocrite," Sooyeon would refer to him as. Nonetheless, he's a tower of support to Sooyeon and his "older-brother-protective" mode comes on when he hears about her and some other male.

Trainee background: She had been street-scouted in 2009 and then she had ended up auditioning to TOP Media. During the time, she had been warned to what she would sacrifice in order to take the entertainment path by her brother and was prepared with the strict diets and long hours of training. Her stubborness pulled through in the end and she was put in the project of a new girl group, "Aries."

In other words, Sooyoung is the evil villain who playfully threatens her minion, Sooyeon, to be an accomplice.

She has earned Key's respect with her vocal talent and ambitiousness, so after the two passed the frenemies stage, the two became friends in spite of the continous bickering. They contact each other occasionally; he's like a brother from another mother.

His personality and how you act around each other: Being a rational thinker, Kris is a relatively quiet guy that observes things around him, like how Sooyeon does. Often mistaken as being angry all the time - hence the nickname "angry bird" - he's actually warm-hearted, but it takes a while for him to open up. With Sooyeon, backstage, they bicker frequently, mimicking a married couple and on-camera, the stage can see their playful teasing of each other. He likes to annoy Sooyeon and she would counter back to Kris.
