I'm mostly alive!
So the hurricane hit my town HARD. There are trees down everywhere. A tree crushed the shed beside my house and another smashed into our deck. It's nearly impossible to leave the town because of all of the wreckage. I went to the shop to try and buy food for my family but most of it was gone. My friend and I went further south and it's even worse there. The streets have turned into rivers and the rivers into oceans. People are paddling down the roads in canoes and kayaks. It looks like the apocolypse happened. I waded in the water up to my thighs but got out when it got deeper.
My house is fine. There is light damage to our deck and our shed is, sadly, destroyed, but the house itself is fine. A house a few ways down from mine was nearly completely crushed by fallen trees. 100% of my town has no power. I texted some friends closer to the water to make sure they evacuated safely but they haven't texted me back yet. I'm a little worried about that, but I'm sure they'll be alright.
I took a few of pictures of the wreckage on my blog. I didn't get too many, since my phone ran out of battery and I had no way to charge it. A few people in my area died. I'm not sure of the exact number.
Things here are not great. We're not expected to have power for at least two weeks, but my guess is about a month. Just posting this to let everyone know that I'm fine! My family is fine, my house is fine, and I'm fine, albeit a little hungry and annoyed. Luckily it isn't the middle of winter without heat. It is getting a little cold, though...
Thanks for the messages, guys. I will be sparse the next few weeks, but I'm sure you'll understand.
