Joo is very sweet, cheerful and outgoing but she's shy at first. Other think she's cold because she barely talks when you first meet her but as minutes pass, she will be able to express herself more. She's naturally happy at times. Always greets people with her sweet smile that brightens everyone's day. Sometimes, she might seem kinda childish when she's excited or extremely happy about something. Why you ask? Well, she jumps up and down (not too high though) and claps her hands. Although she can be a little diva-ish to the people who doesn't like her and she simply doesn't like back.

Yes, she's cheerful but that doesn't mean she never gets mad. She tries to control it though. Cuz' she herself doesn't like this side of her. Why? Because she thinks she's not herself when she's not in the mood. She unintentionally hurts someone physically or sometimes emotionally. She hates hurting people she cares for. She's usually quiet when she's sad or when she's feeling down.

Well, she's also a girl who loves to have fun. She's very playful and likes to play games. By games, I meant challenges. Not those games that children used to play. She likes challenges mostly because she's partly competitive and does not give up easily.

Background: (I'm warning you.. this is long. XD)

Kwon Jooyeon or Joo was born in Busan, South Korea. She belonged to a middle-class family. Her family was like other normal families. Jooyeon lives together with her parents and her older brother. She was the youngest member of the family so she was loved and well-taken care of. Joo thought her life is perfect and she couldn't ask for more until a shocking incident happened that changed her life.

When Joo was in last year of middle school, she and her brother, who was a senior highschool were chosen as one of the best students so their school decided to send them to California as exchange students. The siblings studied in California for a school year. And when they returned back to Korea, they met their parents at the airport. Their family reunited once again. Joo's father suggested that they should eat outside. They were on their way to a restaurant when their car's brake is not working and suddenly, a speeding van crashed on them, causing their car to bump on a post.

Jooyeon woke up on a hospital bed. With a gauze on her head and a cast on her left arm. The nurse immediately saw her wake up and called for the doctor. The doctor said she seemed fine despite her injuries. She asked the doctor where her family is and what happened. The doctor told her that she and her family got involved in a car accident. Suddenly, the door opened and her brother entered the room in a wheelchair. He was completely fine though. But like Joo, he also has a gauze on his head. But his was bigger. He immediately hugged Jooyeon. Here's their conversation:

"I'm glad you're safe. I thought I'm gonna lose you." Her brother, Jaehyun sobbed while hugging her.

"Oppa, where's appa and umma?" Joo asked worriedly. She feels something is wrong.

"Jooyeon-ah..... Umma and appa...." Jaehyun trailed off as he sobbed harder. This made Jooyeon nervous.

"Oppa, where are they? Tell me!" Joo asked impatiently, tears forming in her eyes.

".......... They're gone."

Those two words made Jooyeon feel like her whole world just crashed down on her. She can't do anything but cry. Her parents are gone. There's nothing she can do about it.

Weeks passed, Jooyeon and Jaehyun were charged out of the hospital. It's a good thing that their parents have bank accounts to support their needs but it's not enough to support them for life. So Jaehyun decided to find a job and he found one. He worked as a waiter in a cafe. Jooyeon was still affected by what happened and that also affected her grades. She was distracted. Although her brother told her she needs to fight and she tried hard to move on, she still keeps on dreaming about her parents which made her cry in her sleep and wake up in the middle of the night. She also keeps on having flashbacks when she sees even the simplest things that remind her of her parents which makes her cry.

Until one day, her best friend Daehyun made her life happy again as he introduced her to the world of music. Jooyeon returned to her cheery self as Daehyun did a good job in encouraging her and being there for her. He also found out that Joo has talent. He told her to join him in a musical competition. Joo agreed and then, Daehyun and Jooyeon signed up as a duet. Little did they know, one of the judges is a scouting agent from TS entertainment. He was impressed by the two so he decided to ask them if they are interested to be trainees in TS. The two of them agreed and together with Jaehyun, They moved to Seoul as they are now trainees in TS. But after 2 years, the CEO of SMent asked the CEO of TS if they could take Jooyeon as their trainee. They asked Joo if she wanted to. Jooyeon was sad because she has to leave Daehyun behind but Daehyun said it was okay and it's a big oppurtunity so she agreed.

Joo was spacing out when her teacher announced something:

"Class, today we will have a new student. Please introduce yourself young man." Ms. Park said

"Annyeong-haseyo.. Jung Daehyun imnida... I hope all of us will be friends.." The new student, Daehyun said.

"Assa. Please sit beside...... Jooyeon-ssi. Miss Kwon, please raise your hand." Ms. Park said.

Joo immediately snapped out of her trance when she heard her name and raised her hand.

Daehyun headed to their desk as Joo moved abit to make space for Daehyun. Once Daehyun sat down, Ms. Park discussed about their new lesson.

"Annyeong... Jung Daehyun imnida.. You're Kwon Jooyeon right?" Daehyun said in a friendly way and offered his hand

"Ne.. Nice to meet you.." Joo said as she shook his hand.

"Miss Kwon, since Daehyun is new around here, please give him a tour in our school ne?" Ms. Park ordered

"Ne Ms. Park." Joo replied as the bell rang. signalling it's lunch time. The students hurriedly pack their things and went out of the classroom like the school is burning. Joo just shook her head and packed her things.

"So... I guess I'll show you around?" Joo asked Daehyun. Daehyun just nodded with a small smile.

Joo showed Daehyun around their school. Then, they went to the rooftop.

"This.... This is my favorite place in the whole school." Joo said

"Why?"

"I don't know... I'm usually afraid of heights.. But for some strange reason, I like being up here. Maybe because it's quiet and peaceful?" Joo replied as she and Daehyun sat down.

"Assa. Uhm... Jooyeon-ssi?"

"Hmm?"

"Uhh.. I don't really know anyone here except you.. uh.. Can I eat lunch with you?" Daehyun shyly asked.

"I suggest that if you want to be with me, eat your lunch here."

"Why?"

"I'm..... not really in the mood for eating.. I'm gonna stay up here until class starts.'' Joo said quietly. Looking down.

Daehyun thought something's wrong.

"Jooyeon-ah, is there something wrong?" Daehyun asked worriedly.

Joo wanted to say nothing's wrong but she suddenly had another flashback of her father asking her if there's something wrong. Tears started to form in Joo's eyes. Daehyun saw this and he immediately know something's wrong.

Joo cannot take it anymore. She just let her tears fall. Then suddenly, she felt a warm body hugging her. Which made her calm down abit..

"Just let it all out... I don't care if you will make my uniform wet because of your tears.." Daehyun said while patting Joo's back.

This made Jooyeon laugh abit. After a few minutes, Joo finally managed to stop her tears.

"Thanks Daehyun-ssi.." Joo said with a small smile.

"No problem.. But.. May I know why were you crying?"

*Should I tell him? Hmm.. He looks kind and trust-worthy though.. I guess I should tell him* Joo thought

"It's okay if you don't want--"

"Ani.. It's okay.. I'll tell you." Joo said and she told Daehyun what happened to her family.

"Oh.. I'm sorry.. I didn't mean to--"

"No no.. It's okay.. I kinda helped.. It feels nice to know that there's someone who I can talk to." Joo smiled at Daehyun.

"Okay... Come on.. We have to go back now. I heard the bell ring.." Daehyun said.

School ended and Joo was packing her things. When her brother called.

"Yoboseyo? Oppa, waeyo? Mwoh? But.. Okay.. Take care.." Joo hung up and sighed.

"Everything alright?" Daehyun asked

"Oppa said he will not be able to fetch me,.. I guess I have to walk home" Joo pouted.

"Alone?"

"Mmm." Joo nodded

"No.. I'm walking you home."

"But--"

"No buts.. Now, Kaja!"

Daehyun walked Jooyeon home. Their walk was not really awkward. They seem pretty comfortable with each other even if they just met this morning.

"So... We're here." Joo said

Daehyun suddenly chuckled

"Wae? Aigoo this guy.."

"I live in that house right in front of yours."

"Jinjja? How come I never saw you?"

"It's because we just moved here."

"Arasso.. I have to go in now.. Annyeong Daehyun-ssi! Gomawo."

"Ani.. You have do to something in return." Daehyun said

"M-mwoh? What is it?"

"Call me oppa. Seriously, I'm older than you.. Jooyeon-ah"

"Tch. Ara.. Daehyun oppa~ Annyeong~"

and that's how Jooyeon and Daehyun met.
