The Two Things I Love Most About KPOP
Many times, I'm asked why I love KPOP.
Why not Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift or One Direction?
It's not like I understand the language, right?
I guess it's because KPOP redefines what music really is - a form of expression that is beyond languages. Sure, the unbelievably handsome guys and beautiful ladies are an additional perk (HAHAHAHA) but I guess this is what keeps me in this genre of music.
But if I really have to think of two reasons why I love KPOP, I can only think of two.
One
KPOP is music and is therefore art
Music being an art is one of the many truths in life that we often forget. Sometimes, we take music for granted, forgetting the artistic side to it - the amount of preparation, passion, sweat, tears and blood that was needed to form that music.
And I thank DBSK for always reminding me of that
Love in The Ice
You'd have to be deaf not to admit that the song is just truly beautiful. I can honestly say that DBSK is one of the very rare groups that sound so beautiful as a whole and sound so perfect individually. Every time I listen to this song, I get goosebumps. They're that good - all five of them (Whoever said Jung Yunho can't sing, I will kick you to where the sun doesn't shine).
I can't even put to proper words what I feel about this song. It's like the words 'beautiful', 'amazing', and 'brilliant' don't do it justice at all. This song shows time and time again that KPOP - and music in general - is art... that you need the right amount of harmony, passion to make it work.
Sometimes, the best songs aren't even in English
And on a side note, I believe that the day will come when these five will make beautiful music again together.
Two
KPOP builds relationships
And the strongest one I have... is with Super Junior.
I might be a bit biased with this one but hey, I'm entitled to that, right?
It's been seven years already since Super Junior debuted and this time around, you'd be blind not to see how strong the bond between those fifteen boys and the thousands of ELFs are. We laugh together. We cry together. We fall together and we rise up together. That's what an ELF is being like. It still astounds me how close ELFs and the boys are, defending each other when needed, thanking each other for being there and all that.
"You may not have been an ELF at the beginning, but you'll be ELF to the end." - Choi Siwon
I think the ELFs are the most protective and the sweetest people I know (HAVE YOU SEEN THOSE FOOD SUPPORT AND WHATEVER? :O). We've endured a lot - we saw some of our boys leave, two of our boys become an outcast, we saw our boys cry one too many times. We ELFs fight each other, we are the biggest trolls of the boys... but yeah, we still got a strong bond.
We aren't called Super Junior's eternal girlfriends for nothing.
Would you marry me?
Seven years
and counting
One of the best things I've ever been in my life... is being an ELF.
o-o-o-o-o
Wooooooooooo, I had to let all my feels out. HAHAHA. If you're wondering what the links are, the first one as mentioned is (arguably) the best Love in The Ice performance of DBSK. The second is the video of ELFs seeing Marry U to Super Junior. I've been watching those two videos on repeat so yeah... kinda sentimental, melancholic and emotional right now.
