Dear AFF team...
What do I (and you) read on every single AFF page today?
"I'm leaving the site soon, and I want to use up all my karma before I do! So I'm advertising my glorious blog!"
So, up to now, we had ads for random stories appearing on our own chapters (read Chanrae's blogpost about it, I totally feel the same way as she does) as if we couldn't just pick stories that are worth it and advertise for them ourselves. I would have prefered having to chose, among a bunch of stories, one that I would have liked to promote, I would have prefered being offered karma points for accepting to display it (I don't care about karma points but it's a matter of principle, TV channels and websites get paid for displaying ads), I would have prefered these stories to be related to mine in any way, but, well, at least they were AFF stories.
Today, though, we made a step further on the path of nonsense. The advertised link isn't even a story, it's a teenager's blog. Why is a teenager's blog, with a hot pink background, pictures of clouds, cotton candies and Nintendo DS along with bazillions of selcas, advertised on my stories? Why? AFF mods, how could you accept that to be advertised for on each of your pages? How could you?
Dear AFF team, I'm not writing this for the sake of bashing. I realize that every new feature is a lot of work, and that you set them up for us. This website as a whole is really well done and it's a pleasure to browse it. Actually, letting people who have accumulated a lot of karma points the possibility to promote their story is a good way to reward them! But, as a user, I'd just like to have the possibility to whether accept this ad on my story (and get a karma point, for instance) or to refuse it. I don't know how to give you this kind of feedback, but I hope you get to read this!
Thank you for reading, please share your thoughts!
