Ughhh. Why I don't like the word "Oppah"

For those of you who don't know, I'm Korean.

Maybe it's because I actually have an older brother (not likely) BUT.

I FIND IT

EXTREMELY AWKWARD

calling a male older than me by a few years

"OPP" fuc*ng "AH"

Very likely 'cause I am really awkward and at aegyo.

Like, I NEVER do it.

Today I added on facebook a childhood friend(?) (oppa) that I know but haven't seen for like 3 years.

I was on twitter and remembered he had one so I asked my brother for his twitter id .

My bro said he didn't know and told me to ask him on fb so I ended up adding him and he accepted like a minute later and

OH GOD it was freaking awkward. lol.

I knew it was going to be but I just went head first into the conversation because I was the one who added him after all. So I said hi

and he asked me "how have you been" which meant I had to ask back, and in Korean

You can't just say "What about you?"

If you were close friends, sure, you could say WBU? "너는?" (neoneun?)

except we weren't,

and I didn't know if I should use formalities or not, because I knew him when I was younger so I didn't worry about formalities and probably said oppah easier back then.

BUT NOW.

UGHH.

So after AGESSS of silence in chat I said

"heh...he... What about you oppah?"

but it looked like

"what about you OPPAH?"

and I was dying inside. asjhgkjsahgfjhsfgjhsdf ;-;

and then he took like 2 minutes to answer which made me think he was very awkward at me calling him oppa and hfihgieh.

Eventually he answered, saying not having the best time because of tests in Korea atm. Along with a smiley face ":)"

Then he said he had to go study,

Then I said bye.

Then I shoved my head into the ground and cried.

LOLOL not literally, I was just so embarassed. lol

Thanks for reading my rant. :)
