In a press statement released earlier this morning, FTIsland’s label FNC Music announced that lead singer Lee Hongki will be retiring from the music industry for good to pursue an alternate career path. Hongki, who was sporting a bedazzled hairnet, stated the following: “I regret that my decision may cause pain to my fans, but I feel that this is the best course of action for both myself and for FT Island.” The singer went on to explain that he felt music was holding him back from his true dream: hair accessory crafting. “It is not fair to my members or to my fans to continue on as a singer when my true passion is not for music, but for headbands,” he stated. When asked about his future plans, Hongki announced his intentions to open a handcrafted hair accessory boutique in the countryside. He also added that depending on the success of his boutique, he may consider opening a nail salon as well in order to practice his love of nail art.
