personality:

Myung-dae is a guy who's apathetic towards most aspects of his life and shows no interest whatsoever to things that happen around him. However, despite being shown as an average, lazy, I-don't-care-about-the-world-so-leave-me-alone! guy, he is quite intelligent and perceptive. The reason for his usual laziness is because he wishes to "conserve energy". His motto speaks his whole personality: "If I don't have to do it, I won't. If I have to do it, make it quick." 

He seldomly gets angry and it's a very rare sight for him to shout (since he thinks it's too much energy consumption). He's basically this "low-power" state guy that would rather just blend with the background than stand out. He's not one to start conversations and if you do happen to have one with him, he'll usually be the one listening. Myung-dae is neither a couple of steps ahead or a couple of steps behind a situation; he's just there. His impassiveness may come off as being rude or hurtful, but don't be mistaken; he just has a very strong sense of control. Myung-dae is not someone who will most likely overwork himself, since he rarely moves anyway. But he is prone to sleeping and sleeping deep, and this is because his body is just not used to moving around that it has nothing better to do but rest. His laid-back personality makes him terrible with time management and scheduling, so he'll often be the late guy of the group. But despite all of this, he's one who will work steadily, one who will be the least stressed and one who is willing to let others take the spotlight and not make a fuss about it.

On stage, he keeps his cool and prefers standing or walking rather than doing all those flashy moves. He just lets his mouth (and hands) do all the work. His little energy boost is evident on stage and in front of the camera. He'll also show certain emotions and facial expressions on stage; but after performances, he'd go back to blending with the background, looking sleepy, impassive and would just nod his head or clap his hands when necessary.

Public Speaking | Rapping is different from public speaking. There's just something about talking to a bunch of people that drives him nuts. Add in the fact that he doesn't like to talk to begin with, public speaking takes him out of his comfort zone (which is being one with the background) and into the spotlight. He doesn't thrive being the center of attention. For him, public speaking makes him feel like a piece of paper shrivelling up in a flame.

history:

Myung-dae was born in Glasgow, Scotland (that's the biggest city in Scotland~) and lived there for a few of his toddler years with his parents - Dae-hyun (Korean) and Yvonne (Scottish). When he was able to walk and use the potty, his family moved to Seoul, South Korea; his father's hometown due to his mother's work (and innate interest about her husband's country) and this was where he lived the rest of his growing years. Living in Korea meant being more fluent in their language despite having been originally born in an English-speaking country, though his mother often spoke to him in either English or French to keep him in check. Myung-dae schooled in Seoul and was just an average performer, reciting every now and then in class and performing relatively well in subjects involving writing and arts.

His life in Seoul seemed relatively calm, except for the bit that his mother went missing a few years after he entered middle school. From what he heard, his mother, who worked as a travel writer, had gone far into the rural areas of the country for her new book. But on the day when she was supposed to be back home, she never came back. Myung-dae's entire middle school life consisted of running around with his father looking for her, so he really didn't get to enjoy much of his early teenage life in peace. Most assumed that Yvonne was already dead, but the father-son duo wouldn't believe it - yet eventually, as time passed by, the reality was starting to sink in that his mother wasn't going to come back. So Myung-dae's personality took a totally twisted turn. His mother was the life of the family and without her, he had learned to rather stay put and let things take its course with him staying in the "gray" side of the spectrum.

Myung-dae was naturally lazing around outside the building, because he was miraculously earlier than the security guard who would open the building (very bad time management skills XD). So while waiting outside, in the chilly early morning, Suzy happened to pass by (probably on her way to her own building or schedule or something...?), carrying what looked like her warm breakfast. Seeing Myung-dae pitifully waiting by the step of the entrance and was about to doze off again, she timidly approached him and asked him if he was all right. Myung-dae didn't reply and she politely decided to give him her warm pastry. After taking the pastry and still not spluttering out a single word, Suzy gave a shy bow and walked off, leaving Myung-dae with a warm pastry but completely wide awake.

trainee life: 

Myung-dae's trainee life was tumultuous. He was often subject to criticism and scolding because of his laid-back attitude and seemingly indifferent reactions. The only reason as to why he wasn't kicked out was because he was a unique character - when he was given the chance to rap, his more vibrant and "daring" persona comes out, and it wouldn't take an idiot to notice that he's more comfortable rapping than talking. Myung-dae wasn't strong in singing and so he devoted majority of his practice hours into dancing and mastering his rapping skills.

how did you get accepted?:

A relative had actually sent his application for him and before he knew it, he was into the audition process without a second to process everything. He entered the audition room like a lost child, which was probably an amusing sight to see for the committee who were expecting auditionees to be totally prepared for the moment. The committee accepted him because of his interesting first impression, "cool" exterior, rap ability and his previous experiences in modelling.
