[Translation] Baekhyun’s B-Day Fan Event

Another old(ish) event with new fan account translation by our great thekaisoo@tumblr.

TN: Mainly translated 글썽-nim’s fan acc (tistory) and translated parts of ceach-nim’s (bestiz) and 노아-nim’s (naver blog) to complement hers & make this translation as complete as I can possibly make it be.

Baekyeol moment’s a given, but can we start shipping Baekhyun x Suho now too?

Side note: Junmen needs to stop being so considerate/caring & leave my bias list alone..ㅠㅡㅠ

This translation turned out to be almost as long as the 100th day fan event, so…Long, long text ahead.

• The fan event took place in the park, with the boys standing on the stairs. 
• May 6th, Baekhyun’s birthday. Way into spring and approaching the beginning of summer, it was a really sunny day.
• The boys stood in this order: Chanyeol, Sehun, Kyungsoo, Baekhyun, Suho, and Kai.
• Baekhyun didn’t have much eyeliner on today, so he looked really cute. 
• On the other hand, Sehun had it applied on really thickly. He looked a bit scary when he scrunched up his eyes because of the sun.

• “We are one! We are EXO-K!” Following Suho’s lead, the boys bowed.
• Everyone said their individual introductions, but when it was Kai’s turn, he started to stutter.
• “I am K-K-K-Kai.” After he made this mistake, his mood visibly sunk as he murmured in a cute, downcast voice, “Annyeonghaseyo……..”
• When Baekhyun finished his introduction, Kyungsoo placed a fluffy birthday hat on Baekhyun’s head.
• Baekhyun was wearing these huge paper glasses with birthday candles. The combination of these glasses and the fluffy birthday hat was deadly cute. 
• 
• 
• But the hat went everywhere; it wouldn’t stay in one place. 
• Baekhyun wore it on his head, then he’d be dropping it, then he’d flip it and wear it on his neck. 
• It was the same with those glasses. Baekhyun tried placing the ends of the paper glasses into his ears, pretending they were earphones.
• Baekhyun’s voice, today, was really full of aegyo~
• After singing “Happy Birthday,” the boys lighted the birthday firecrackers and Baekhyun feigned surprise like a “docile lady.”

• Then, the boys started to relay their individual birthday messages to Baekhyun.
• Suho: “Kai-shi, please say a word to Baekhyun. Let’s start with Kai-shi…”
• Ignoring Suho, Chanyeol pushed past him and stopped before Baekhyun to say, “Yes, uh…”
• Baekhyun: “Come down one step (the stairs) please. ^_^” (b/c of the height difference)
• Chanyeol: -steps down- “Well, first of all, uh, Baekhyun, my roommate…We are in a relationship where we love each other.”
• Here, Baekhyun’s eyes widened as he turned to the fans, shaking his head, saying, “It’s not like that, really!”
• Chanyeol: “Baekhyun-ah, I really congratulate you on your birthday. I actually said things like this throughout the whole day many times, but I’ll congratulate you once more. Let’s love…” -hugs Baekhyun-
• Sehun: “After meeting Baekhyun hyung, it’s the first time we’re celebrating his birthday….together….”
• Here, Baekhyun dragged Sehun down a step, too.
• Sehun: “I think it’s more meaningful because we’re celebrating with the fans as well. I love you, hyung.” -hugs Baekhyun-
• Kyungsoo stepped out, and the fans started shouting, “Go down a step! Try going down one! Go down!”
• Kyungsoo really went down a step without Baekhyun telling him to, but just as he opened his mouth to tell Baekhyun his birthday message, Baekhyun dragged him upwards. 
• Baekhyun: “Not you. You can say what you need to, up here.”
• Both of them stood on the same step on the stairs now, and Kyungsoo re-opened his mouth, only to be interrupted….again. 
• Since Kyungsoo was still, visibly, a bit shorter than Baekhyun, Baekhyun said, “Actually, I think it’d even be okay if you go up a step. Here, step up.”
• So now, Kyungsoo was standing one step above Baekhyun. He looked taken aback, like he was having some kind of mental breakdown, and even mumbled to himself before speaking aloud.
• Kyungsoo: “I told Baekhyun, ‘Happy Birthday,’ continuously from this morning. Yes. Baehyunnie..Congratulations on his birthday…right? (He slightly stuttered and sounded pretty awkward, probably because of the whole “height/stairs” issue from before. keke) I love you, Baekhyun-ah.” -hugs Baekhyun-
• And then, just as everyone thought Kai was going to go next, Baekhyun held up his mic and congratulated himself.
• Baekhyun: “Baekhyun-ah…A-ang…Happy Birthday~ …And I love you~”
• His whole body shrunk from embarrassment afterwards.
• Then, it was Kai’s turn. 
• He stood right next to Baekhyun on the same step, and we all thought Baekhyun would tell Kai to go down a step too, but he didn’t. 
• Rather than saying that he didn’t, it looked as if he couldn’t. Personally, I thought the two looked a bit awkward.
• Kai: -indifferent expression- “First of all, Baekhyun hyung, happy birthday….”
• Fans: “Go down a step!!!”
• Suho: “Go down! Go down!!”
• Eventually, Kai went down two steps below Baekhyun, looking all self-pleased, saying he was showing his “manners.”
• Kai: “Baekhyun hyung’s time as a trainee was pretty short, and he said that he had a lot of trouble and that it was hard for him. We were listening on during his interview, so when I heard that, my heart truthfully hurt. This is why I’m grateful that he’s constantly tried and made an effort to keep practicing with us ‘til now…”
• Kai hesitated and looked at the fans.
• Kai: “Do you not understand me?” (We understand..-__-;; )
• Kai: “….I’m thanking him right now…I love you.” -hugs Baekhyun-
• So in the end, although Kai looked the most awkward relaying his birthday message, his was the most thoughtful.
• During their hug, one fan jokingly shouted, “Move away.”
• Suho imitated the fan’s tone and said, “Get out; move out of my way.”
• Kai moved away, sulking at Suho’s teasing tone.
• Suho then approached Baekhyun and stood right in front of him, eyes focusing wholly on Baekhyun. 
• They were really close, almost like two models from Andre Kim’s finale. 
• 
• Baekhyun sort of trembled from embarrassment and looked downwards. 
• The other members went, “Woahhh~~!” and moved away to give the two some “private” space. 
• Chanyeol and Kyungsoo were busy spraying snow at the two to give the effects of making the whole scene look like a wedding.
• Suho: -using an imperious voice- “Raise your head.” (LOLOLOL JUNMEN WTF)
• Baekhyun: -plays along and imitates the voice of a eunuch- “Yes, I understand~”
• Suho: “Baekhyun-ah. I really congratulate you on your birthday. Really, because we have you, because we really have you…I think our team’s a whole lot more fun. REALLY!!”
• Suho suddenly got excited and started to speak in a noticeably higher tone..;;
• Suho: “You are the vitamin of my life! The vitamin of EXO-K! I think you’re the vitamin/source of energy for everyone. I mean, your mouth really doesn’t rest from the moment you wake up ‘til the moment you go back to sleep!”
• Baekhyun laughed in agreement.
• Suho: “I sincerely wish you a happy birthday, and this morning, as soon as I woke up, I was first to say…..”
• Baekhyun: “He was the first to wish me a happy birthday!”
• Suho: “….happy birthday. I love you! Forever! Come on; I love you.” -hugs Baekhyun-
• Chanyeol added in out of nowhere that he was third to wish Baekhyun a happy birthday. No one asked, Chanyeol-ah… (OTL you were /third/, not really something to be brag about, Chanyurr ♥)
• Baekhyun: “Okay, we are now finished with all these embarrassing messages.”

• Baekhyun then started to talk about the fan support at live stages. He carefully expressed his inner disappointment about not too many fans being present. 
• Reality: Only twenty fans were allowed to enter, and everyone else got cut off. There were so many fans waiting to support you guys, Baekhyun-ah.
• Baekhyun said that the members put so much more energy into their perfs whenever the fan chants are louder.
• But most of the time, the fans are on the quiet side. 
• He then made this cute demonstration of how enthusiastically he can dance with louder fan-chants. 
• Reality: Most of the twenty fans who got into the Inkigayo recording were noona fans who were shy about screaming their hearts out & there were a lot of international fans who couldn’t really communicate with the domestic fans about getting the official fan chants right, so naturally, the fans were pretty quiet…
• The fans shouted that they could do better and they’ll prove it if the members perform now.
• Kyungsoo suddenly said, without talking it over with Baekhyun first, “Baekhyun will show you guys his part! ^0^”
• Kyungsoo turned into this active stance out of nowhere and shouted, “I’ll sing!”
• Baekhyun shrunk from embarrassment, and his voice cracked when he asked, “Uh…what were my moves again?”
• Before Baekhyun stepped forward to dance, Kai mouthed at him, “Together?” and Baekhyun enthusiastically nodded. 
• Then, Kai stepped out a bit, too, with a proud expression that looked like he was doing Baekhyun a huge favor by dancing with him. 
• Both of them danced while Kyungsoo sang Baekhyun’s lines.
• Baekhyun was so close to the fans that the fans could literally touch him if they stretched out their arms.

• After this, the members announced that Baekhyun was going to answer exactly two questions from the fans. 
• It became really quiet as everyone tried to think decent questions to ask.
• Fans: “How tall are you?”
• Baekhyun jokingly replied, “Around 185 cm~”
• Fans: “How is Chanyeol oppa? What do you think of him?” 
• It was really obvious that this question was about the Chanbaek pairing, so there was an awkward silence.
• Suho teased the fans, saying, “Well, there goes one question~” and while pointing to some far away place, he said, “The chance to ask a proper question flew away~” 
• Everyone started panicking, and Kai played along by eyeing where Suho’s finger was pointing.
• Kyungsoo and Chanyeol must have become addicted to snow spray. Whenever they had the chance, they were spraying snow everywhere. 
• Chanyeol sprayed at the fans in front of him by accident and apologized. 
• Then, the fans on the other side outstretched their arms and asked Chanyeol to spray snow on them. Chanyeol sprayed in their direction, but the wind had to blow at that exact moment. The snow “twisted” direction and hit the fans in front of Chanyeol again. Chanyeol looked really surprised as he apologized over and over again. LOL
• Fans: “What would you like to receive as a birthday present?”
• All the members replied that they’d rather receive something that showed someone’s sincere intentions rather than something of monetary value.
• Baekhyun: “Ah! I also ate seaweed soup today!”
• Fans: “Who cooked it for you?”
• One fan shouted out, “Kyungsoo oppa??” 
• Baekhyun: “Seaweed soup? Well, of course, all of the fans here…..”
• The fans caught on that he was going to say something really cheesy, so there was a cold silence. LOL
• Baekhyun: “….Ah, no…It was a microwave recipe that took only 3 minutes…Anyways, there goes another question~”

• Fans: “Measurement of your thighs?”
• Baekhyun: “This is rated. Thighs = rated material.” (OTL Stop, Byunbaek. Even your middle school friends ratted out on you and revealed your past class reputation as the “god of erted jokes”…;;)
• Fans: “Measurement of your chest?”
• Baekhyun was about to answer something, but Kai interrupted and said, “We can’t~ No comments on any more questions regarding body measurements~”
• Fans: “What are you going to do after this event?” 
• Baekhyun: “We’re going to go see flowers together. A field of canola flowers.” (Uh….tell me he’s joking? LOL six boys at their age walking through a field of flowers together…just…OTL)

• Chanyeol kept stuttering while saying Baekhyun’s name. He’d say, “Our Baekhyun, Baekhyun-shi, Baekhyun-gun…” (“gun” would sorta be like saying “lad”)
• All throughout the event, the sound system was horrible. Because the fans in the back may not be able to hear them, Baekhyun and Chanyeol started screaming/shouting into the mic. It was a crazy sight.
• Baekhyun started to play around with the fans. He quietly whispered into the mic, “Excuse me…I….” and then, in a louder tone, he said, “I love you.”
• Fans: “Louder!!!!!!!!”
• Baekhyun shouted back, “I love you!!!!!!!!!”
• But then, his voice cracked at the last syllable, so out of embarrassment, he added, “Just kidding……”
• The fans started groaning.
• Baekhyun: “You guys sound like you’re ready to attack me……Anyways, thank you so much for coming. I didn’t expect this many fans to come, so I’m really touched.”
• A fan shouted, “300 fans!!!!”
• Chanyeol shouted back, “400 fans!!!!!”
• Baekhyun: “I’m so happy right now…I could die. Right now…I think this is more nerve-wrecking, even more than live music broadcasts!”
• Fans: “Ah~~~~~What the……Lies!!!!!!”
• Baekhyun: “You saw through my lie?” OTL

• Fans started to ask the members for personal talents, so immediately, Oh Gwangrok was brought up.
• Kyungsoo humbly said, “Baekhyunnie is a kid who has so many more talents than me. I am nothing.” (WHAT. NO. KYUNGSOO. SHUT UP. ;A;)
• Baekhyun…..Baekhyun-ah…OTL…Baekhyun, the boy who’s full of confidence and ambition~
• Baekhyun noticed that all the fans were wanting Kyungsoo to show his Oh Gwangrok impersonation, so Baekhyun added, “I know how to do it ‘Oh Gwangrok’ too!!”
• Kyungsoo: “He’s like the original! The original!”
• Baekhyun did his impersonation and excitedly said, “I’m better [than Kyungsoo], right?”
• Fans weren’t as responsive as Baekhyun expected, so he started sulking, “……Noise level is too low….I guess I’m not……” 

• Fans: “Film a reality show~~~ You guys need one!”
• Chanyeol: “We also want to do it~ keke”
• Fans: “Don’t meet up with random girls though!”
• Baekhyun: We won’t~ Yes~ kekekeke Yes, we won’t~”
• Fans: “What types of food do you like?” 
• Baekhyun: “I like 3 min prep food, microwavable types.”
• Fans: “Dyo-cook! Dyo-cook! D.Orchestra!!!!!”
• Chanyeol cracked up at “D.Orchestra.” He was laughing and began throwing himself against the metal railing next to the stairs…;;

• Suho: “No one’s showing me any attention…?”
• Fans: “KYAAAAAAAAAAAA!! JUNMEN!! JUNMEN!!!!”
• Suho: “Actually, I’m actually saying this because the talk about reality/variety shows came up right now..But in that one news article about us on dating shows….” (Some article that claimed that Suho said he’d like to go on WGM once or something~)
• Fans: “ACKK!! No! Don’t say it! Don’t say it!!!!!!!”
• Suho: “…W..What I’m trying to say is…is that I didn’t say it like that!! I just meant to say that if we had the chance, I’d like to film it with the fans…”
• Fans: “Yeah right…..No! Even that! Don’t do even that!!!!”
• Baekhyun started leading on the fans to chant, “Lies! Lies! Lies!”
• In the end, with the help of our /kind/ Baekhyun, leader-nim became a liar~
• Suho kept on insisting, and you could really see the panic on his face.
• Suho: “That!! That kind of thing was what I wanted to say! I didn’t know the reporter would switch my answers up like that…”
• Fans: “What about going on the show with your ideal type? A girl with literary interests?”
• Suho: “No, my ideal type is a girl who’s very charming like Baekhyun!”
• Awkward silence…
• Suho: “Actually, everyone present here is my ideal type!” (omfg Junmen, you fail…)
• Again, Baekhyun started leading on the fans to chant, “Lies! Lies! Lies!”
• Suho: “I’m being sincere right now, really!!”
• The fans were still chanting, “Lies! Lies! Lies!”
• Suho: “…..I…I don’t lie..all the time…?” (Nice attempt at defending yourself, Junmen, really…/applauds)
• Baekhyun: “I was just joking. Joonmyun hyung has never lied!”
• Fans started chanting, “Lies! Lies! Lies!” directing it at Baekhyun’s comment this time.
• Baekhyun paused and then happily chanted along with them. LOL

• Then, the fans asked Kyungsoo to introduce the title song, “MAMA,” again for them.
• Kyungsoo: “Our title song, ‘MAMA’….”
• Chanyeol got the fans to start chanting, “S-S-Superior…”
• Kyungsoo: -ignores and continues with a concentrated expression- “…is a song in which everyone can witness a powerful performance.”
• Fans: “Kyungsoo-yah! Say something in English!! Say, ‘Hello, I’m D.O.’”
• Kyungsoo: -ignores-
• Suho: “Aren’t you going to cry here like Tao did?” 
• Baekhyun: “…Uh…Tao was acting.” 
• Suho: “Following Tao’s birthday, we now had Baekhyun’s…So…who’s next?” 
• Fans: “You!!”
• Kai, on the side, started shooting at Suho with his “airgun” while making childish sound effects.
• Suho: “I’m going to cry if more fans show up at my birthday event~”
• (400 fans showed up at Baekhyun’s, but not as many…or actually, a much lower number of fans showed up at Suho’s because SM decided to hold Suho’s birthday event privately in the building whereas Baekhyun’s was held publicly in the park, so yeah. ㅠㅠ..)
• Suho: “Thank you for coming this close to see us all…so close to see..close to…” 
• Suho kept on stuttering, and because he couldn’t word out what he wanted to say, he stood speechless for awhile. 
• Baekhyun jokingly made the situation into one where Suho was touched by the fans’ efforts.
• Baekhyun: “Don’t start tearing up!” 
• He led the fans into chanting “Don’t cry!!” with him.

• Then, there was a whole autographed posters & CD’s give-away session. All fans who came to this fan event were given a number, and each of the boys were to choose a number. The fans with the corresponding numbers would be the lucky winners.
• The thing is…the boys could have signed these give-away items before this event started, but they didn’t. So they were just standing on the stairs in front of the fans, taking all the time in the world to sign the posters.
• A couple fans started to shout, “JUNMEN!! JUNMEN!!” and Suho shyly smiled in response.
• Kai and Sehun were standing while signing the posters, so they took a long time and looked really uncomfortable.
• Kyungsoo immediately chose to sit down to sign, so it was really cute how everyone else was standing, but smack in the middle, one member was all bent over on the ground.
• The fans in front started telling Kyungsoo to get up since the ground was dirty.
• Kyungsoo looked up and stared at them with widened eyes, taking a while to actually comprehend their words.
• Finally, he understood, got up, and used Sehun’s back as a flat writing surface.
• Chanyeol was also standing while signing his poster at first, but he gave up pretty quickly and crouched down on the ground.
• After Kai finished signing, he grinned widely, saying that the little face he drew every time at fan signings was a bit different today.
• Baekhyun and everyone else finally finished signing posters, and Kyungsoo randomly let out this unrecognizable shout of joy at this..;;
• Baekhyun decided to choose his favorite number. Baekhyun did this whole self-done drum roll before shouting out, “Eight-een!!!!!!”
• Chanyeol started shouting “Stand up! Stand up!” in English.

• 글썽-nim was the lucky winner! (She was #18~)
• Translated her other detailed post about going up to receive the autographed poster she won. :3
• I walked over to the members, and the first member I saw up close was Kai. Kai kept on tilting his head, so I looked at him with a questioning expression. He said that I was a lucky child for being chosen. “Lucky child, lucky child, blessed child~” He kept on saying this with a mischievous expression that matched his playful tone.
• Suho was holding the autographed poster and when he held the poster out to me, I abruptly stuck out my other hand and asked for a handshake. He made this really apologetic expression and said he couldn’t because the event organizers forbid him to do so. I felt worse for making Suho have to apologize with that sorry look. ㅠㅠ..
• And then, Suho “escorted” me over to the birthday boy, Baekhyun. And stupid me…On instinct, I stuck out my hand and asked for a handshake again. Baekhyun visibly hesitated, looked at the event supporter noonas on the side, misunderstood their “no” for a “yes,” and slightly held my hand. 
• All the fans were going crazy behind me.
• The thing is…the boys weren’t allowed to do handshakes or anything of the sort, but apparently, Baekhyun didn’t know that at first?
• The couple of fans who were chosen after me went up to receive their autographed posters or CD’s and asked for handshakes too. But they were politely denied.
• When the fans asked, Baekhyun first said, “Ah…The handshake from before…I…It was…It was an accident/mistake. I’m sorry.” 
• I had gone back to my seat already, and my friends around me said in a somewhat pitying/comforting tone, “Unni…what to do…he said, ‘accident’….”
• I didn’t concern myself over that because Baekhyun was right, it was an accident that he shook my hand…And it was unfair that I got a handshake while all the other fans couldn’t.
• I felt really bad about this and just when I was feeling worse, Suho helped me out. 
• Suho: “The handshake was an “accident,” but it was full of sincerity. We also wanted to shake everyone’s hands anyways~”
• Note: Basically, Suho was being considerate of this fan (글썽-nim) who had already gone back to her seat and was somewhere in the huge crowd of fans. By emphasizing that the handshake was still a sincere one despite being an accident, Suho lightened the load off of the fan’s mind. She was already feeling so horrible about being the only one to get this handshake and about putting Baekhyun in an uncomfortable spot. He basically cleared up the whole mess of a situation since Baekhyun unintentionally made it more awkward with his word choice of calling the handshake a “mistake.” So the fan was really touched about this small but very considerate action Suho even bothered to take for her. Baekhyun’s reply could’ve been overlooked since he didn’t say anything /wrong/ but just in case, the #18 fan out there may have been hurt/discomforted by it, Suho swiftly added his clarification of Baekhyun’s answer. ㅠㅡㅠ..

• This is  노아-nim’s fan account who was assigned #8 and sat in the front line.
• I was envious of #18 (글썽-nim) who got to shake Baekhyun’s hand, so I was just mindlessly toying with my balloon. 
• That’s when Kai, who was literally right in front of me, suddenly stuck out his hand. 
• I dumbly stared at it, wondering what the hell he was doing. 
• He didn’t look away from my stare or break eye contact. 
• He didn’t remove his hand either, so I then came to the conclusion that Kai was offering me a handshake as fan service. This angel~ ♥ 
• My happiness was fully expressed on my face as I reached out to shake his hand….
• …..when Kai suddenly retreated. 
• It was as if he stole a toy from a child, how he hid his hand behind his back while slyly smiling at me. He shook his head saying he’s not allowed to do handshakes. 
• He was totally toying with me. 
• I am your noona by far, Kai…..ㅠㅠ..
