GLAM: One Of The Best Rookie Girl Groups and Why

This is copied from the article I already wrote on my Tumblr page. Please read it, guys :)

So, there have been many great rookie groups coming out in 2012. When you think that, you’ll probably think B.A.P, NU’EST or EXO.

Personally, I’m only paying attention to EvoL as a new girl group, but an article from Allkpop has brought my attention to GLAM, a new girl group that’s probably done the most amazing thing ever.

The song’s music video is fresh and funky and unique. The song itself, Party (XXO), is cute, fun, and catchy. But what is the most amazing of GLAM is the lyrics which promote universal love and acceptance.

That’s right: they’re singing that it’s okay to be homoual.

With lyrics saying things like

“Can I kiss ya baby girl?”

“Are you a boy? Girl? I don’t care — passion is the key, a hot heart is your ID.”

“A kiss, XXO, anyone can be a Romeo.”

“A peace, XXO, just hug everyone. Only love.”

In a world where homoual people are still being sorely mistreated and outcasted — especially in places like South Korea — this is an incredible song that has a beautiful meaning to it.

Miniature hipster moment? I liked GLAM's debut song a loooot. And I loved it after reading the translation. I really admired them for that; hopefully they continue like that, but considering it's Korea..... I didn't read the article on allkpop, made a mental note to, but I'm assuming it said good things?

but you have to understand that this song was not approved by the many koreans because such topics are despised of in south korea. i'm not saying it's bad but as a korean myself, it's not only against my religion but against my culture. just saying there are a lot of people out there who have the same aspects as i do.
