Life background/story:
Jung Ahreum was born on March 24, 1994 in Busan, which is the countryside in South Korea. Her original hometown is Seoul. They moved back to Seoul shortly thereafter. Due to her father's occupation as a CEO in a specific company in the music industry, she moved around a lot as a child. When she was still a kid, they moved to France. After 3 years, they moved to Japan and then came back to Seoul after living there for three and a half years. When she was 10, she eventually moved to California, where she studied English and lived there for 3 years and came back at 12. There, she managed to master some languages such as; French, Korean, English and Japanese.
Ahreum comes from a four-membered family. She has a pair of parents and a younger brother. Her father works as a CEO, while her mother is a famous South Korean actress. Her elder brother, Jung Daehyun, also known as just Daehyun, is part of a boyband under TS Entertainment that was formed by CEO founder Kim Taesung in early 2012.
They are very supportive towards Ahreum. She is a multi-talented girl that is gifted and has a voice that can move mountains, and it’s one of a kind that is very rare in Asia. She never took vocal classes. That’s because their family has a natural talent in music. Ahreum and her brother have been influenced in the K-Pop music industry since they were young because both of their parents are also in the music industry, and they have inherited both of their talents and are very extremely talented youngsters.
She can sing and dance, just like her brother. She learned the piano and violin from her father, acting was taught by her mother. Some people think that Ahreum acts like a cold person that doesn’t talk much and is too quiet because she has a cold appearance on stage. Well that’s a lie. She’s a straight A student, other than that, she is also called the school’s Queenka, Aegyo Angel and Cold Shoulder. The students like her because she’s different from other Queenkas. She’s very humble, friendly, caring, loving and a loyal friend. They called her Cold Shoulder because she acts cold when someone confesses to her. She’s also very close with some of the teachers at school, because of her high marks that made her communicate well with the teachers. She started singing, dancing, acting and participating in contests since she was at the age of 4. She learned to play the piano and violin when she was about 3 years old.
How do you become a trainee:
Jung Ah Reum has been training for a total of 6 years in the entertainment industry. She was originally a full-time trainee under Good Entertainment starting from the young age of 14. It all started when she was performing on stage at her previous school in California for a talent show. She sang Song Ji Eun’s “It’s Cold” and also Hello Venus’ “Excitement”. The judges were impressed and soon she became one of the best female singers in her school. She also performed in many singing and dancing competitions around in California. She won various awards and got lots of compliments for having a unique vocal in a young age. At the age of 12, she came back to Seoul and entered a talent contest. She played the piano, and sang Davichi’s “Because It’s You”, which earned her the first place.
She gained a lot of attention and won many hearts of the audience. Her father, who is a chief executive officer found out that Good Ent was holding an open audition. He insisted Ahreum to audition and fully knew that she would get accepted. After a few days, she tried her best & went to the auditions where she immediately got accepted as a trainee. After training for 3 cold years, Ahreum was originally set to debut as the maknae of girlgroup ‘5-Yeoja’ along with After School’s UEE, Wonder Girls’ Sohee, 4minute’s Jihyun, and a former T-ARA member and current Spica member Yang Jiwon. However, the group disbanded shortly before their scheduled debut in 2008 due to Good Entertainment’s financial troubles and the members all left for separate Korean entertainment companies. After showing her talents at the auditions in SME, the judges were very impressed of her talents. The other agents also strongly agreed to accept Ahreum into the entertainment industry.
After four years of training, the company wanted to debut her as a solo artist because of her strong vocals, but she declined due to her thoughts that she was scared she didn’t have enough confidence. They were fine with her decision, and they placed her in a girlgroup that will also soon debut. Her vocal is very similar like Park Bom. She has named solo artist G.NA and duo pair Davichi as one of her biggest influences who inspired her to get into music. In addition, Ahreum names idol singer Park Bom of 2NE1 as one of her role models, because she wants to have her strong performances & vocals on stage.
During her trainee years, she communicate and work well with the other trainees because she’s really friendly. The others really love talking to her and usually after practice, they would spend some time together. When they have problems, they would go to her and she gives them advices. She’s really caring. Plus, she was the most wanted trainee, because she knows how to sing, act, model, dance, rap and play instruments. Basically, she was one of the most talented trainees in the agency. She learned very fast how the things are in the entertainment world and she became distant and closed to the public.

Here he is. Wonho, or best known as his stage name ‘Shin’ from rookie group Cross Gene. He is one of Ahreum’s most favorite and playful cousin of all time - but when it comes to doing drama roles, he does it seriously because that’s his job. Wonho would often visit Ahreum and her family even though he has a tight schedule. Wonho loves to bring Ahreum for a walk, to the shopping mall when they’re on a break, or even sometimes to Cross Gene’s dorm to hangout. He cares for Ahreum as much as her brother Zelo does. Wonho is also featured that has a “feminine look” in his image and Ahreum would always playfully. They really have a strong relationship, and always look out for each other.

How did you meet him:
After her appearance as the co-star in BTOB’s music video; Irresistible Lips, Minhyuk & Ahreum often hang out together.
