Chapter16

::Don’t Leave Me::

Kris smiled as they walked into the arcade, since it was a Saturday they would stay open until ten at night. He looked around and walked over to the coin machine. After making sure it was working he looked at the guys. “Alright, were here for our shift.”

The other workers nodded before grabbing their things and leaving. Lu Han closed the door and looked around, a few teenagers where there playing some games. He noticed one wave over another by the ball pen. Wandering what teenagers were doing by the ball pen he walked over. Peeking over them he spotted a familiar figure sleeping inside.

“Of all places to fall asleep.” He said as he looked at the three dudes. “How long was she here?”

“She’s been here for four hours.” One said as he looked at him a bit surprised.

“Well move along.” He said as she pushed through him. “This is an arcade, not some place you teenagers can go to watch girls sleep.” He said as he watched them separate.

Climbing into the ball pen he picked her up and carried her out. Kris spotted him and laughed. Lu Han motioned for him to keep quiet and carried her to the back. Laying her down on the couch in the break room he watched her for a few minutes. His eyes landed on the ring he gave her and he smiled before leaving.

Kris was waiting by the door. “Did you kiss her?”

“No, why would I do that?”

He laughed once more and walked off. “Why don’t you think about that question?” He said with a wave.

Glancing back at the door he smiled before walking off.

“For your kindness, and intelligence on behalf of our Leader I would like to present to you your Guardian badge.” Aphrodite said as she held out the badge, on it was engraved a wing. “Once you take it you accept all responsibility as a Guardian and swear to obey ALL the laws.”

“I gladly except.” Xue Fang said as she took the badge and bowed.

Applause coupld be heard, she smiled and turned around. On the left was all the Guardian Angels, on the right were the other Angels. She smiled as her eyes landed on the only person she really wanted to see, Lu Han. He clapped and smiled at her. Aphrodite dismissed everyone and she ran over to him.

“Master Lu Han I did it! I actually got my badge!”

“I knew you could do it.” He said as he ruffled her hair. “I’m glad I was here to see you receive the badge, you looked so happy up there. I know your mother is proud.”

Slowly Aphrodite walked over to them. “It’s time now Xue Fang.”

“Time for what?”

“Lu Han must return to Earth, you are to start your duties immediately.”

“I can visit Master Lu Han right?” She asked as she faced her. “I mean I don’t have to disappear from his life.”

“Sorry but rules are rules. The boy possess the ability to see us, he knows too much. I will erase his memories and he will forget meeting you. He’ll forget all of this and be safer.”

“I don’t want to forget Xue Fang!” Lu Han shouted as he stepped forward. “I promise not to tell anyone about you all. I won’t talk to anymore demons and I’ll stay out of the way. Please don’t make me forget Xue Fang. She’s my friend.”

Aphrodite sighed. “I’m sorry but rules are rules.”

“Master Lu Han.”

“This is all your fault!” He said as he looked at Xue Fang. “You knew this would happen, you got close to me and my friends just so you could use us to get that stupid badge! Now you’re going to leave us when we’ve grown so attached to you? Why couldn’t you just be happy on Earth with us?! Why did you want to leave us so bad?!”

“Master Lu Han…” She said softly as she lowered her head. “I didn’t use you guys, I love you and your friends a lot.”

“Then stay with us.” He said as he put his hands on her shoulders. “Come back to Earth and live with us, forget about being and Angel and all of the things you’ve been through. Stay with me.”

She looked up at him, her eyes showed confusion.. Aphrodite looked at her.

“You’ve grown up well little Angel…now it’s time to make your decision on where you will stand. With them, or with us?”

“I…” She glanced at Lu Han once more, a small smile formed on her lips. “I can’t give up my powers to stay with you. I’ve always wanted to be a Guardian to save and protect Humans from the Demons and Fallen Angels.” She said as she nodded. “That’s my decision.”

“Xue Fang.” Lu Han said sadly. “Are you sure?”

“Yes.”

“I love you and I can’t imagine life without you now!” He confessed as he put his hands on both sides of her face and leaned in with his eyes closed.

Xue Fang blushed as she watched his lips come closer, as her eyes slowly began to close there was a loud crash.

Sitting up in panic Xue Fang looked around the room, her eyes landed on the fallen box. She let out a sigh of relief.

“It was just a box…” Looking around she put her hand to her chest. “It was just  a dream…but why am I so disappointed that I didn’t get to kiss Master Lu Han?”

“Is everything okay?” Lu Han asked as he peeked in the room, he noticed the fallen box and walked in closing the door behind him. “I told Xiumin to put this someplace safe and secure, all that noise could have woken Xue Fang up. Idiot.” He said as he shoved the items back in the box and lifted it up, turning around to take it out the room he noticed Xue Fang staring at him. “Oh, so it did wake you. Sorry about that.”

“No, it’s fine master Lu Han.” She said with a small smile. “I shouldn’t be sleeping anyway.”

He set the box down on the table and sat down in front of Xue Fang. “You okay? You look a bit flushed.”

“I’m fine…just a strange dream.” She said as she pulled her knees in and rested her head, her lips hiding behind her knees. “How long was I out?”

“A good five hours.” He said with a small laugh. “After the first two I was starting to worry since it was getting so late. What were you thinking falling asleep in the ball pen like that? We get a lot of guys here, something bad could have happened to you.”

“I wasn’t worried, there were two people working already.”

“They didn’t even notice you had fallen asleep Xue Fang, I had to find out from three creeps watching you sleep. It was careless.”

“Sorry.”

“What were you doing here anyways? You had the shift with us?”

“I was practicing because I didn’t want to mess up anymore. You guys are always working hard and then I come along and make extra work for you by messing up. I just didn’t want to be a bother anymore.”

Lu Han laughed. “I don’t mind fixing your mistakes. Besides you where MIA all day. I was worried something might have happened to you…and then I thought maybe you went back to Heaven and didn’t tell anyone.”

“I would never leave without telling you.” She said as she grinned. “You guys are my friends.”

“That’s good to know.” He said before ruffling her hair. “Oh and one more thing, don’t leave again without telling me.” Blushing Lu Han rubbed the back of his neck. “Not to sound bossy or anything…it’s just that all day I felt kind of alone not knowing where you were or what you were doing. It scared me a little bit if that makes any sense.” She starred at him, panicking he waved his hands in defense. “I mean you can do what you want really, it was just a friend  request and----“

“Master Lu Han!” Xue Fang shouted as she hugged him, the force from the hug knocked him back and the two fell on the floor. “I promise not to Master Lu Han.” She said with a smile, tears in her eyes. “I never want to leave your side so please don’t worry about me!”

“O…Okay.” Lu Han said shocked, as tears fell from her eyes she buried her face in his shirt. “Xue Fang…” Lu Han wasn’t sure what to do, he rubbed her head gave a soft smile. “What are you crying for you big baby? You’re okay aren’t you?”

She nodded and looked at him.

“So then smile, crying doesn’t suite you.”

He pushed her hair out her face and behind her ear, his eyes landed on her lips. Silently Lu Han closed his eyes and leaned in. Xue Fang blushed and shut her eyes. Before anything could happen the door busted open.

“Hey Lu Han, I thought you only came to check on the crash.” Xiumin said, freezing he starred at the two.

Lu Han was propped up on one hand and Xue Fang was on top of him, her face still wet from the tears. Xiumin looked out the door and then back at them. Kris walked over and peeked inside, smiling he pointed.

“Don’t tell me you two where making out…”

“No way!” Lu Han shouted as he stood up, Xue Fang falling onto the floor. “We weren’t doing anything, she had a weird dream and I guess she was a bit emotional. You know how girls are.” Lu Han said quickly as he looked down at Xue Fang. “Well then if you’re feeling okay now I should get back to work. Next time go home if you’re tired.” He said lastly before grabbing the box and rushing past the guys.

Xue Fang blinked a few time, she was confused about the whole situation. Kris walked over to her and held a hand out, she took It and he helped her up. Xiumin walked over and inspected her face.

“No signs of kissing or anything here. They really didn’t do anything. So what was with that position?”

“I hugged Master Lu Han and he fell from the table.” She said honestly as she looked at them. “I thought humans hugged for most of their emotions, I was happy to be here.”

“Well then what about the dream?”

“It’s nothing now, I don’t even remember it!’ Xue Fang said as she rubbed her head. “So don’t worry about it.”

“Aw!” Kris said as he wrapped his arms around her. “When Lu Han denies your hugs you can always come to me Meimei! My arms will always be open for you.”

“Yeah and any other girl.” Xiumin said as he rolled his eyes. “How come you always act like Xue Fang is yours?” He said annoyed. “She’s going to leave you one day because of it.”

“No she won’t” Kris said as he stuck his tongue out. “She loves me too much.”

As Xiumin and Kris argued Lu Han stood behind the wall by the door. Sighing he shook his head.

*I was so close in there….the guys always have bad timing.* He thought with a sigh. “She didn’t move back there…does that mean she feels the same way as me?” he wandered.

 

Chapter 17

::Learning More About You::

It was finally closing time, the gang closed up the arcade. Heading home Lu Han glanced over at Xue Fang who was talking to Kris about something she needed help with in school. Kris had his arm wrapped around her shoulder as he explained something to her. Xiumin was playing his PSP while he was walking so he wasn’t paying much attention. Deciding on what to do Lu Han grabbed Xue Fang’s hand.

She looked at his hand and blinked a few times, Kris and Xiumin stopping to look at the two. “What is it Master Lu Han?”

“You remember what I said to you back in the break room right?”

“Yeah…what about it.”

“I want to go get something sweet to snack on. Come with me.”

“But it’s late.” She said as she looked at her watch. “You shouldn’t eat sweet things at this time, mama always told me---“

“Come on.” He said as he grabbed her hand and pulled her along. “You two head home without us! We shouldn’t be too long, have dinner ready!” He shouted to them.

Kris looked at the two leaving. “What did he tell her in the break room?”

“Who knows.” Xiumin said as he got back to his game. “With any luck he’ll confess his feelings to her, I’m tired of him keeping it to himself like he doesn’t understand how he feels. Denial isn’t cute.”

“I know right? It’s a river!” Kris said in a joking manner, he slung his arm around Xiumin. “Now let’s go get dinner ready for Prince Charming and Princess Klutz.” He said with a chuckle.

Lu Han smiled as he led Xue Fang to the nearest store. After buying some ice cream he led her to the lake, sitting on the bench he motioned for her to sit as well. Xue Fang sat down and slowly ate her ice cream, she starred at the water a bit awkwardly. Neither of them really knew what to say.

“So…how about you tell me more about the Angels.”

She looked at him. “What do you want to know? I mean there is a lot about us. How about telling me about that girl who came before, she said something about her brother Li.”

“Oh you mean Mei. Li is the boy from the picture in my place, my childhood friend. Mei is the only family he has left so she tries really hard to keep him from being upset or hurt. She doesn’t really like me all to much, when I was younger she used to be one of my teachers at Guardian Academy. Come to think of it I think she purposely gave me hard tasks so I could fail.” Laughing she rubbed the back of her neck. “Why am I just now seeing it?”

“So then what about Li, how did you two become friends?”

“We were friends since our diaper days.” She said as she looked up in thought. “Come to think of it, we never really had a choice in the matter. It kind of just happened that way, his mom and mines were close friends. It was natural that spending that much time together would make us two become friends. When we are born Aphrodite decides who we will marry once we become old enough. If an angel falls in love with a human they must give up their powers and are banished from Heaven.” She said as she looked at her ice cream.

“If an angel dies they are reborn as a human. If a human stabs an angel in the heart their powers and immortality passes over to them, the angel cannot be reborn if such a thing took place, their being would seize to exist. An angel banished because of a crime will be forced to live on earth, their white wings will become black. An angel who possess a human parent and an angel parent  they can choose to live on earth or heaven after getting their guardian badge. Angel’s live off of their essences, if the essence is stolen they become lifeless and left in a doll like state until it is returned. They will die if it isn’t returned within three days of it being taken.”

She looked at Lu Han and smiled. “We have a lot of rules to follow by and a lot of guidelines.”

“That is a lot…. “ Looking at her he smiled. “So how about you?”

“What do you mean?”

“Tell me more about you.”

“But you already know everything.” She said as she continued eating. “I mean you know about my mother, Mei and Li. Not much else to know about me.”

“What were you like as a little girl?”

“I guess I was the same. I’ve always wanted to help others out, I mean I was always clumsy but I never let that stop me from trying to help the others out.” She said as she looked at him with a smile. “There was this one time me and Li snuck through the gates and came here to explore. We snuck into a fair and got to ride that big spinning circle.”

“The Ferris wheel?”

“Yeah, it was all Li’s idea, he said he wanted to do something to cheer me up. It was after I was told my mother was gone. Lady Aphrodite sent her personal Guardian to get us and we made him run around for hours to catch us. We were going to get a week’s worth of punishment for the stunt, Li excelled in all of our training so he was accepted as an Angel who could shadow a Guardian and see how things get done when it comes to protecting the humans. He was so disappointed when she took that away, I told her it was all my fault. I said that I was upset over the loss of my mother and took all the blame.

Back then I didn’t have half as much guts as I do now though. I used to get bullied a lot by the others, and sometimes I would even get into fights. Li always told me to fight back but I just couldn’t the thought of hurting an ally over something so trivial.” Laughing she looked at him. “So I guess to sum it up I was a chicken as a kid, I had good intentions though.”

“Really?” Lu Han said as he smiled. “I think it’s cool that you’ve had that mindset since you were young. I think I’m the same as when I was a kid as well. I mean I used to get into trouble more than thought because I had a thing for playing pranks but I was always a good kid.” Laughing he looked at her. “Things seemed so easy when I was young. For some odd reason being with you makes me feel the same happiness I felt back then. I forget all the work I have to do and how bored I am.” He said seriously.

“Really?” She said as she smiled. “Then I’m glad to be around Master Lu Han. You’re my best friend.”

“Watch it.” He said in a joking manner. “Li might be watching us as you speak, wouldn’t it hurt his feelings to hear such a thing?”

“I can have more than one best friend.” She said as she stood up. “Let’s head back now, I bet Kris already has dinner ready and is beyond upset.”

“Who cares?”

“You do.” She said as she smiled. “After all he is the father between you and your friends.” She stuck her tongue out and ran off.

“He is not the father!” Lu Han shouted with a chuckle as he chased after her. “Wait up Fang! Run any faster and you’re bound to fall!”

 

Chapter 18

::She’s Engaged?!?!::

Lu Han and Xue Fang walked up to the door of their apartment. Lu Han went to unlock the door but froze when he realized it was unlocked. Xue Fang looked at him and blinked a few times in confusion. After a few minutes she poked him in the cheek. Lu Han looked at her.

“Is something wrong master Lu Han?”

“We never leave our door unlocked.”

“Really? I do it all the time.” She said as she blinked innocently.

“That’s because you aren’t the sharpest tool in the shed. Plus you have us next door to protect you.” He said as he slowly opened the door. “Xiumin, Kris?”

“In the living room.” Kris called.

Xue Fang smiled as she ran into the living room. “What did you cook this time----“ She froze at the sight before her.

Lu Han slowly walked behind her. “What are you stopping for?” He asked as he followed her gaze, a tall male around Kris’s height. He had long black hair and brown eyes, he looked familiar. “Who are you?”

“Bao Be!!” He shouted as he rushed over to Xue Fang and pulled her into a hug, her arms hung limply to her side as she stared at ahead at the wall. “When Mei told me about you fighting a demon I couldn’t believe her. Lady Aphrodite confirmed it and I had to request for a position close by so I could keep an eye on you.” He said as he pulled away from her and looked at her face. “You seem okay, so which human was the one you were trying to protect.”

He looked at Lu Han and let her go. “Oh, I didn’t see you there. I’m Li.”

“Li?” *No wonder he looks so familiar.* Lu Han starred at him before looking at Kris. “What is he doing in our place? I didn’t know we let strangers in.”

“Be nice.” Kris said as he laughed a little. “He came all this way worried about Xue Fang. I thought it would only be polite to give him some food and let him wait here for her.” He said as he sat down. “Besides he’ll be here for a while.”

“What does that mean?” Xue Fang asked as she backed away from Li, she stood by Lu Han. “I thought you were on break?”

“I was.” He said as he rubbed the back of his neck. “I just couldn’t stand to be away from you longer so I decided to cut it short and come here to be with you while you work on getting your badge. I want you to hurry and get it so we can have assignments together.” He said as he smiled. “I bought you something.” He picked up a rose from the couch and handed it to her. “It’s from Lady Aphrodite’s garden.”

He grinned. “I remember that there your favorite.”

“Because they last longer than the ones on Earth.”  She said quietly as she excepted the rose and bowed. “Thank you for thinking about me, it’s nice to see you after such a long time.” She said as she looked at Lu Han. “Um…Master Lu Han, he’s the one in the picture that I told you about.”

“I can see that.” Lu Han said as he examined Li, he was skinny yet fit.”

“Master?”

“Yeah, he helped me out when I first got here so I promised to be his Guardian during my stay.” She explained.

Li nodded as he ruffled Lu Han’s hair. “Thank you for looking after my Bao Be! It means a lot to me to know she has made such loyal friends here. She wasn’t really liked in Heaven by the others.” Li said.

“Yeah, don’t thank me.” Lu Han said as he pushed his hand away. “I’m a good friend to her because I like her, not for you.” He said growing a bit defensive. “Were keeping her safe here, so why don’t you go back?”

“Lu Han!” Kris shouted in a scolding manner. “Don’t talk to meimei’s friend like that.”

“This is getting good.” Xiumin said as he sat up and watched in interest. “Too bad I don’t have popcorn.”

“It’s no big deal.” Li said to Kris as he smiled. “It would seem as though your friend has grown a bit attached to my Bao Be. If it would mean helping out a human I would love to follow your wish but I can’t. I want to make sure my fiancé is well.”

“Fiancé?” Lu Han asked with a raised brow, he looked at Xue Fang. “You never told me you were engaged.”

Xue Fang hung her head low. “I…”

“It’s not her fault really.” Li said as he stepped in front of her, he didn’t like the look Lu Han gave her. “Xue Fang has always been confused about things. We’ve been engaged since we were born, Lady Aphrodite chose us for each other. When she came here though she stated getting used to human customs and wanted to change it. Please don’t be mad at her.”

“I didn’t ask you.” Lu Han said, his voice slightly rising. “I was talking to Xue Fang, so speak to me Xue Fang. That’s an order.” He ordered.

Shocked by the oder she slowly stepped into view, it was his first time ordering her. “I didn’t tell you because you didn’t ask.”

“Didn’t ask?” He chuckled sarcastically. “You’re kidding right? You’ve been hanging around three guys but you haven’t once mentioned to them you were married.”

“I’m not married yet!” She slightly shouted, realizing she yelled at him she bowed. “Forgive me.”

Lu Han rolled his eyes. “Like I care about any of this. Now that your husband is here why don’t you spend time with him and leave us alone.” He said as he looked at her. “I’m going to my room.” He said walking away.

“Master Lu Han wait!” Xue Fang shouted as she ran past Li and the others, grabbing his arm he stopped walking. “You aren’t mad are you? I mean you should let me explain things first.”

Lu Han looked at her, her eyes were teary. *She’s married Lu Han…and you almost kissed her.* He pulled away. “Just leave me alone.” He sighed before leaving.

Xue Fang stood their stunned. “Master Lu Han.”

“Lu Lu!” Xiumin said, as a door slammed he walked over to Xue Fang. “I’ve never seen him like that before. Maybe it would be best you give him some time to cool off.”

She nodded as he led her to the couch, she sat down and sighed. Looking at the rose and then at the ring on her finger. Kris looked between the two.

“So who wants to speak?”

“Angels are given the ones they will marry at birth, Lady Aphrodite chooses. Because our parents where close they felt we were born to be together. She agreed and it was set in stone. After I came here though and met you guys I started seeing do many things. I tried to call off the marriage but Li put it back on. Until I get the okay from Lady Aphrodite and the higher up I can’t officially call it off. We can’t get married until I pass though.”

She explained as she looked at Kris, her eyes getting teary again. “I swear I didn’t lie to Master Lu Han though! I mean he didn’t ask and I didn’t want to bring it up since I was trying to stop it! You guys have your laws to follow and we have ours!” She said as she grabbed Kris’s shirt. “I would never do anything to hurt you, Xiumin or Master Lu Han. Were a family.”

Kris smiled as he gave her head a pat. “Don’t worry meimei, it take a lot more to upset me then Lu Han. Keep getting worked up like this and you’re going to stain your pretty little face with tears.”

“Go home and go to sleep. We’ll handle Lu Han.” Xiumin said as he smiled. “So leave it all to us meimei, we’ll still be a family no matter what.”

She smiled as she nodded. “Thank you both.” She said as she bowed.

Li looked down at her, his eyes looked a bit hurt. “Let’s go.”

She nodded and followed him out the door.

Kris sighed as he messed up his hair. “This is drama I didn’t see coming. Lu Han’s heart is probably broken.”

“Yeah but she didn’t seem too happy to see her fiancé.” Xiumin said as he looked at him. “I don’t think any of this is fair, she’s being forced to marry someone. Hey Kris do you really think those two are telling the truth about everything?”

Kris smiled as he looked at him. “I believe every single word of it. Don’t let them know though.” He said as he put his finger to his lips. “It’ll be our little secret.”

Li watched Xue Fang sleep, standing in her doorway he scratched his head. She slowly rolled over.

“I’ve been in heaven going crazy about her since she left to come here and she didn’t even smile at the sight of me.” He noticed the photo of her, Lu Han, Kris, and Xiumin. “Those three…it’s like they’ve brainwashed her or something…and that kid.” His eyes landed on Lu Han’s face. “I can see how much he means to her, yet he turned his back on her. My poor Xue Fang was so hurt back there.”

He sighed as he shook his head. “Even as kids she didn’t really want me around much.”

“Oh Xue Fang!” Li shouted as he pushed his short hair behind his ear. “Where are you this time?” He came up to the garden and smiled when he spotted her by the fountain, in her hand was a rose. “There you are!” He shouted running over to her.

“Go away!” She said as she looked away from him. “I don’t want you here, stop crowding around me!”

“What do you mean? We’re going to be married one day.” He said as he grabbed her hand. “Were best friends.”

“Stop getting in my business.” She said softly as she turned to look at him. “Those kids…you beat them up…why?”

“Because they bullied you----“

“I ASKED YOU TO TURN YOUR CHEEK AND LEAVE THEM ALONE! YOU HURT THEM LI! We’re not supposed to hurt people. Were Guardians in training? Our job is to help and protect.”

Li laughed. “What do you mean? If a boy hits a girl he deserves to get hurt! If someone hurts you then you hurt them back, if not I’ll do it for you! That’s my job, were connected. Your pain is my pain, your sadness is mines.”

“That’s stupid! I don’t want to talk about this anymore.” She said as she walked away. “This time try not to follow me! I want to be alone.”

He looked down at the rose she dropped and sighed. She left him standing there alone.

“Why don’t you love me like I love you Xue Fang.”

“Come to think of it after a while she still didn’t really like the idea of marrying me. When we got older she just sort of accepted it. All my gifts, and my efforts to change her thoughts. She never thought of me as anything more than a friend.”

He sighed as he closed his eyes.

“Why don’t you love me Xue Fang…I’d give anything to see you smile. All I ask for in return is your love.” He grabbed the door knob and smiled softly. “Sweet dreams Bao Be.” He whispered as he shut the door.

Chapter 19

::Mother::

Xue Fang sighed as she slowly walked out of her apartment door, she glanced at the guys door. Li followed behind her, looking at her he smiled and grabbed her hand. Just then Lu Han was leaving, he froze when he spotted the two holding hands, Xue Fang meekly waved. Lu Han locked the door and walked away, she put her hand down and watched him leave.

“I don’t know what that kids problem is.” Li said happily as he swung their hands back and forth. “Come on, if we don’t get a move on it you’re going to be late.” He said as he pulled her along. “Bao Be can’t afford to be late to class, human rules.”

“Yeah.” She said as she sighed once more. “Don’t you have Guardian duty? What if something happens to your human?”

“She’ll be fine, I’ve never failed before.” He said as he grinned. “If you really are worried about me messing up though I’ll go on ahead, do your best today!” He said as he blew her a kiss and ran off.

Pouting Xue Fang kicked at the imaginary dirt. “Lady Aphrodite didn’t warn me he was coming and now she’s too busy to talk. What if Master Lu Han never wants to speak to me again?” She set her book bag down by the door and walked off. “I’ll skip classes today, Master Lu Han probably wants to avoid me so this will make it easier for him.”

Kris, Lu Han, and Xiumin were working on an assignment together by the school’s fountain. One of the students ran over and smiled at them.

“Have you guys seen Xue Fang around, the club is getting together for lunch and I can’t find her anywhere.”

“No, we haven’t seen her all day.” Kris said as he looked at Xiumin. “Come to think of it meimei left her bag by her apartment today, her teacher said she didn’t show up yet so we just left it with him.”

“Did she not come to school?” Xiumin said as he put his finger to his face in thought. “Why would she skip though.” Slowly they looked at Lu Han.

“Don’t look at me! I haven’t talked to her any today.”

“You’re her cousin aren’t you?”

“Doesn’t mean I know where she is all the time.”

“But I was told she was always around you, so you two have to be close.”

“Look I don’t know where my cousin is okay?” He said annoyed as he stood up. “You want her you find her.”

“Whoa.” Xiumin said shocked. “I’d say he isn’t over last night yet.”

Kris laughed nervously as he looked at the girl. “Please excuse him, him and Xue Fang aren’t really on speaking terms at the moment. I’ll let her know you were looking for her if I see her around here.”

“Thank you!” She said with a bow before running off.

Lu Han left the University grounds and sighed. “What the hell is she thinking skipping classes? *I mean she forgets to mention she’s engaged, causes problems at work, and makes me feel this way just so she can do this. Does she even realize how much I care about her?* “How is she supposed to learn things if she isn’t around? Li comes and she loses sight of her goals, typical.” He stood still and shook his head. “I’ll find her and talk some sense into her. After all that’s what friends do.”

Up a head Lu Han spotted her wandering around, he head held low. “There she is…” Heading her way he frowned. “Xue Fang, are you trying to fail your test?!” He shouted out to her.

Xue Fang heard his voice and looked up, as a lady bumped into her Xue Fang’s bag of sweets dropped. Her eyes widened as she looked at the woman. She smiled at Xue Fang and bowed as she picked up her candy.

“Sorry.” She said as she held out the bag. “I hope I didn’t ruin any.” Xue Fang didn’t budge, she looked at the bag and then Xue Fang confused. “Do you not want it anymore?”

“She does.” Lu Han said as he rushed over and took the bag with a bow. “Thank you for helping her.”

The lady nodded and walked away. Lu Han faced Xue Fang annoyed. “What are you doing? First you skip classes and then your rude to someone who helped you. Wow, Li comes and you do a full one eighty don’t you? Would you stop starring at people.”

“Mother…” Xue Fang said as she leaned over and looked at the lady once more.

“What?”

“She’s…my mother.” She said as she tilted her head confused. “I would know he anywhere. My mom…”

Lu Han looked back but she was already gone. “Hm, she left fast. I think you’re imagining things. Maybe she looks like her. You said your mother died.”

“That’s what I was told…” She said softly. “So how is it that she’s alive?”
