 16. Family Background: Born in the city of Los Angeles, Hayley and her big sister, Tiffany, have always had a passion for the arts. While her sister's was in singing, she was more of a dancer. Her family, consisting of her, Tiffany, her mother, Jiyoung Hwang and her father, Chansook Hwang, lived an upper-middle class life. At the young age of seven, her family grieved at the loss of their mother to a horrendous cancer. Chansook, their father, told them to live their lives as if they were to die that same day, just like their mother did; this triggered Hayley and Tiffany to follow their dreams. When Hayley was thirteen, she followed the footsteps of her sister, Tiffany, and flew to Seoul, South Korea when she got accepted after auditioning at the SM Entertainment Starlight System.
 
17.  Personalities: After her mother's death, Hayley wasn't her lively self anymore. She started to act a little too mature for her age. Lady-like manners come naturally to her and if she doesn't do them, she actually feels awkward. She's very meticulous and picky, adding up to her being a perfectionist. The slightest flaws irks her, thus, making her work hard in order to meet her demands, which, by the way, are quite high. In addition, she's also a neat freak and a fast learner. People would often describe her as "cold" and "mysterious" because of the lack of smiles. Despite this, she's actually really girly and talkative, surprisingly, quite mischievous, as well.
