Can you embrace me and laugh together?

“Sehun ah, I don’t know what to do.” Kim Joonmyun wasn’t one to complain, but he really was at a loss at the moment.

He still remembers when he first met her. It was during his fifth year, and her second.

Kim Joonmyun was a trainee for seven years. He had to go through seven long years of disappointment, harsh training, and nonstop practice. In all honesty, Joonmyun was ready to give up at around year five. It was obvious that he wasn’t getting any younger (GRANDPA SUHO), and the thought of never debuting ate away at him constantly.

Of course, that all changed when he heard a sweet and bright, “Hi! My name is Han Saehyun! Please take good care of me!”

And then almost magically, practices were no longer such a drag, training was just a tad bit easier, and he had newfound hope. Through a lot of laughter and random hugs, he somehow made it through everything. He was set to debut in April of 2012. (But of course, it hurt him a little, when she got the chance to debut before he did.)

But having such a bright and cheerful (and dorky) noona around him made things better. Much, much better. So much better, in fact, that he quietly but sincerely thinks that fans are wrong to call him the one with an angelic smile.

He thinks that all those people just haven’t had the privilege of having Han Saehyun smile at them. He is sure that no one would think his smile is angelic after seeing hers.

And because of her smile, Kim Joonmyun finds himself in quite the predicament (with a bored Oh Sehun in front of him).

The maknae of EXO stared at his leader blankly, not even bothering to move at all. “You don’t know what to do about what?”

Joonmyun bit his lip nervously before beginning to pace around the living room (and around the maknae. Sehun had no chance of escaping). “That’s just it, Sehun ah! I just don’t know what to do!”

“But…about what, hyung?”

Joonmyun continues to pace about, clearly ignoring the question his maknae has asked. “I mean, I want to tell her and all, but what if it makes things awkward? Oh god, what if she flat out rejects me?” He pauses all movement for a moment before continuing to pace (but at an even faster rate). “I mean, I can understand if she does, but I hope she does it nicely. Maybe something like ‘Joonmyun ah, I’m sorry, but I just can’t date anyone right now’. Omo, I would die if she says ‘Mianhae Joonmyun ah, I just can’t see you in that way’. Omo.” He stops again, right in front of the maknae.

And it is at this time that Sehun realizes that his leader is very good at coming up with dialogue for fake situations. “Sehun ah, what if she tells me that she just can’t see me in that way?” Joonmyun all but whines at his dongsaeng.

Without his expression ever changing, Sehun asks, “Are we talking about the same Saehyun noona?”

Joonmyun gapes and asks, “How did you know I was talking about Saehyun noona?” There is a pointed glare in his direction, and he takes the hint with a sheepish laugh. “Right.”

“Can’t you just confess already, hyung? Saehyun noona is probably as into you as you are her." comes the flat reply. Sehun finds some amusement in watching his hyung turn red and defensive.

“I’ll do that once you confess to Hyorin noona.” retorts Joonmyun.

“I’ll do that after Kyungsoo hyung stops calling her his genie. It’s weird going after someone’s genie.” grumbles Sehun.

Joonmyun just looks at his dongsaeng with a confused expression on his face. Sehun ends up coughing awkwardly and calling for Baekhyun. “Baekhyun hyung! Tell Joonmyun hyung that he should confess and get it over with!”

“Can’t, Sehunnie! Busy complaining with Yixing about Jongdae! Ask me later!” is the yell that he gets in return.

Sehun is undeterred. “Chanyeol hyung! Joonmyun hyung needs help confessing to Saehyun noona!”

“Wait, Sehunnie! I’m talking to Hyunjae~” he hears the rapper say. And then he hears a door opening and it is clear that Jongin is not happy.

“Chanyeol hyung, let me talk to her!”

Sehun is still undeterred. “Kyungsoo hyung! Tell Joonmyun hyung that he should confess to Saehyun noona!”

“Sorry baby, I’m on the phone with Hyorin noona~” the main vocal croons.

It is at this point that Sehun gets up and Joonmyun sighs in defeat. “You’re on the phone with WHO?”

“My stupid kids…” he mutters, flopping onto a couch in an ungraceful (but still hot looking) heap. Joonmyun is still a little hopeful though; he is, after all, seeing her tonight. They are both attending M! Countdown.

He thinks that a confession is out of the question. But he thinks he can handle taking things slow. He can handle asking for a hug, at the very least.

Joonmyun has steeled himself; he has gotten plenty of hugs in the past, but he has never gone to her with the intention of asking for one.

But because he has steeled himself for asking for one, he finds himself completely surprised when he opens the door to ETERNITY’s dressing room and immediately has his arms full of Han Saehyun.

He looks a little to the side and he sees a guilty looking maknae. He idly wonders if Sehun called and told her to push her husband towards him.

But those are thoughts for another time, as in his arms is the one and only Han Saehyun.

He thinks that this counts as a hug.

“Hi Joonmyun ah~” she says, hugging him for a moment (briefly, too quickly in his opinion) before letting go and smiling brightly at him. He smiles back at her and they are left smiling at each other.

(He is all too aware of the teasing noises that his Hyorin noona, Aejung noona, and Hyunjae make in the background.)

“Hi Saehyun noona~” he says. That is all he can say. Thoughts of confessing are clouding up his mind, and if he isn’t careful, he’ll shout those words for the whole world to hear.

She is about to reply to him when he hears saddening words. “ETERNITY ON IN FIVE.” He pouts slightly as the members getting moving. She flashes him a quick smile and a promise to text him before moving towards the door. The other three members are already gone.

“Saehyun noona, can you tell me if you love me?” he wonders. Too bad he wonders out loud.

“What was that?” Saehyun asks, turning to face him almost as she is out the door.

“Himnae, noona!” he says, smiling brightly and raising a fist in a form of a cheer. She laughs at the cheer and raises her first in return. And then she is out the door.

He finds himself singing, “Can you tell me that you love me? Can you embrace me and laugh together?” as he starts to walk out of the dressing room.

“What was that?” he hears once more. She pokes her head back in the room and he almost swears that she is doing this in purpose to him. His cheeks turn a bright red; he wasn’t expecting her to still be able to hear him.

All Joonmyun can do is smile in embarrassment. “Nothing, noona!” He walks out the door with her and waits until she is out of sight before he mumbles quietly, “Saranghamnida~”

When he gets back to his own dressing room, he is greeted with a blank faced Sehun. “You chickened out, didn’t you, hyung?”

“Shut up, Sehunnie.”

So...yeah. ;D I think I like hopeless Joonmyun and helpful but not really Sehun. xD
