Description of Personality: Gong Mai is a bright, peppy and very upbeat girl. Mai is almost always seen with a beaming smile plastered across her face. She is a very positive girl and is rarely ever in a bad mood. Her optimism accompanied with her happy go lucky demeanour makes her very approachable. She loves to be with others, whether it be people or animals. Mai is known to lift a tense/silent atmosphere with ease due to her comical actions and uplifting mood.

Mai enjoys spending her time looking after her pets, mainly her dog Keen. This may be by going for walks, obedience training or just simply cuddling with him. If she’s not with Keen, she will often be enjoying tea at a corner café or improving her vocal range.

Mai enjoys goofing around and playing practical jokes on those who are close to her. This includes taking their possessions and hiding them somewhere or simply imitating their facial expressions and actions for an amusing response. She enjoys skinship to an extent that others may find slightly annoying. She has a habit of poking people’s cheeks and playing with their clothes. Mai has a 4D personality and is always up on her feet. She loves to dance despite being a poor dancer.

Mai is very honest with people. She will openly speak her mind and may say things without fully thinking it through first. Fortunately for her and those around her, Mai, most of the time only has nice things to say.

Mai comes off as an immature girl, however, she is extremely hard working and passionate about her dream of becoming a singer. Her “on stage” and “off stage” character are almost complete opposites. When performing, Mai overflows with charisma and stage presence in contrast to her childish behaviour off stage. She takes singing very seriously and will always give her best to deliver a successful performance. Unfortunately, this mature manner doesn’t extend to dance practices and Mai will usually be found messing around which often leads to her being scolded by her unnies. This lack of concentration in the training room may contribute to her poor dancing skills. However, Mai is not a stubborn person and will follow instructions given by her seniors.

Background: Mai comes from an average household consisting of her mother, father and brother. All the members of her family share a close relationship and are very supporting of Mai’s decision of becoming an idol.

As a child, Mai was always very vocal. She would sing along to songs that came on the radio and even dance whenever music videos appeared on the television. As she grew older, Mai would always tell her parents of how she wanted to become an idol. Her parents were not fond of her decision and felt that she wasn’t choosing the right career path. Her father in particular, opposed to the idea of his daughter joining the music industry. Her parents forced her to give up her dream of becoming a singer to follow a more stable career. Her father opted for her to be involved in the medical department.

When Mai was 11, her family took a trip to Thailand to visit her mother’s relatives. Staying in the outskirts of the city of Bangkok, Mai realised the large numbers of strays around the area. She would often feed the friendlier ones any leftover scraps. One stray in particular became interested in Mai. As the two bonded, Mai would constantly beg her parents to bring the dog back with them when they return to Korea. Her parents continued to deny her requests until Mai dragged them to meet the stray. The poor condition of the dog tugged at their heartstrings and before they knew it, the dog returned with them to Korea as part of the family and was named Keen.

The decision to take Keen resulted in a change of career for both Mai’s mother and father. Mai’s parents quit their previous job to do what they were passionate about, which is helping those who need it. Mai’s mother works alongside her father in a family run Veterinary practice. Although the pay for this job isn’t enough to live the life of luxury, they both enjoy what they do as the satisfaction of helping animals is greater than any pay check. Both Mai and her brother would often help run the practice alongside their academic life.

After their experience in Thailand, Mai’s parents changed their minds and urged her to do what she was most passionate about, which was singing. They supported her decision of becoming an idol.

Family And Friends

Father: Gong Sang Min – 46 – Head of Gong Veterinary Clinic – To Mai, Sang Min is the most respected man on Earth. He is regarded highly by both of his children. Despite his authority, he is very much a playful father who likes to joke around every now and then. It is easy to tell where Mai gets her fun-loving personality from. A typical father, Sang Min only wants what is best for his children.

Mother: Boonliang Kyung Mi (parents are not married) – 43 – Veterinary Nurse – Mai and her mother share a very close relationship. They will speak about any problems openly with each other and Mai thinks more of her mother as the sister she never had. Regardless, Mai respects her mother immensely and will do anything to keep her happy.

Siblings: Gong Tae Hyun – 15 – Student – Mai and Tae Hyun share a good relationship. Tae Hyun is the mature one of the two. Tae Hyun lives more by “work, work, work” in comparison to Mai who lives by “play, play, play”. Despite the two’s opposite personalities, they get along well and care for each other. Mai enjoys playing pranks on Tae Hyun.

Pet: Gong Keen – 7 – Pet dog – Keen is Mai’s beloved pet dog. Mai found Keen as a puppy whilst visiting Thailand. Ever since then, Mai and Keen have been inseparable. Keen is a pure bred Samoyed. Keen is very affectionate but stubborn. However, he is very food motivated and will do anything for a treat! He was featured in EXO’s Teaser 19. {x}

Best Friends:

Byun Baekhyun – 19 – Member of EXO – Baekhyun and Mai became very good friends when SM were looking for a dog to star in one of EXO’s teasers. Mai auditioned Keen who landed the role. As Keen was going to be working with Baekhyun, Mai had to make sure that the two would get along with each other. Baekhyun and Mai quickly became friends due to their easy going nature. They are both playful and like to “annoy” the other EXO members.

Park Ho Sook – 18 – Student and part time Waitress – Mai and Ho Sook’s friendship dates back to their childhood. Both have grown up attending the same shools and the same classes. Ho Sook now works part time at a Chinese restaurant which Mai likes to visit whenever she has the time to. Ho Sook is mature and takes it upon herself to look after Mai. They are both extremely close to one another. {x}

Park Jae Hyun – 21 – Pledis Ent. Trainee – Jae Hyun is known for his pretty face but he also has a personality to match. He is honest and considerate and is always looking out for Mai. They both met when Jae Hyun auditioned for SM at the same time Mai did. Although he passed, Jae Hyun transferred to a smaller company. He and Mai both keep in contact. They have a sort of sibling relationship. Mai likes to annoy Jae Hyun but she never gets a response from him as he is so laid back. {x}

Kim Soo Min – 19 – SM Trainee – Although Mai and Soo Min haven’t known each other for long, they get along very well. Soo Min is immature like Mai is so they are often dubbed as the “Troublesome duo”. {x}

Bang Jin Ae – 15 – Student – An aspiring Vet, Jin Ae looked for advice with animals from Mai. Both share a passionate love for animals. Jin Ae is the only person Mai acts more mature around. Jin Ae is a sweet but shy girl. {x}

How did you meet?: During trainee period Baekhyun asked Mai to join him to practice singing. It was then that Mai first met Kyungsoo who was also practicing. They all attend regular sessions together to improve their vocal skills.

Personality description: Kyungsoo is quiet around people he doesn’t know, however, he is not shy. He likes to stay to himself most of the time and just observe those around him. Kyungsoo is passionate and devoted to singing and will often be practicing in the booth with Baekhyun. He also loves to cook for his fellow members and clean up after them. He is polite and very considerate of other’s feelings. Kyungsoo enjoys skinship with his close friends (Kai, Suho and Baekhyun) but feels awkward and uncomfortable when it’s someone else. He has the tendency to look confused all the time. Once Kyungsoo opens up, he can be quite dorky and playful.

Scene Request: Baekhyun, Mai and Kyungsoo are practicing their singing together when Baekhyun decides to step out to get some snacks/ drinks leaving Kyungsoo and Mai. Since their relationship is not quite at the "friends" stage yet, there is an awkward silence in the room. Mai tries to lift the atmosphere but Kyungsoo is unreponsive and continues learning lines to himself. Eventually (after many attempts to start a conversation with him), Kyungsoo begins to open up to her and the two are left on fiendly terms by the time Baekhyun returns.

Why should I pick you?: I think that the idea of an apply fic to be in a new group is a really good idea. I also like the style that the group will be debuting as, it's edgy. I haven't really applied to fics much before so I would be really happy if I were to get chosen ;u; I'd also love to read how you would interpret my character in your writing style~ ^^
