** This is not for my fellow AFF members; this is for others who will be reading my stories and do not understand Hangul (Korean). **



Yeh/Neh:  yes

Ani/Aniyo:  no

Andwae: Also means 'no', but can also be taken as "I/you can't"

Hyung:  Means "older brother". How a boy respectfully/affectionately calls a boy older than him.

Oppa:  Means "older brother". How a girl does what's above.

Dongsaeng:  Means "younger brother/sister", see above.

Mianhe:  A slightly formal way of saying "i'm sorry"

Ah/Ya:  Added after the name of someone your age or younger for respect/affection

Kenchana/Kwenchana/Kwenchanayo:  It's ok / I'm ok / Are you ok?

Komowa:  Thank you (komowayo and kamsahamnida are more formal ways of saying it)

Umma:  Mom

Appa:  Dad

Yah:  Hey (or just an attention-getter)

Wae/Waeyo:  Why

Bwo:  What

Kyeopta:  Cute/ t's cute/ that's cute/ how cute/ you're cute

Joahe: A very personal, intimate way to say "I like you".

Saranghe:  I love you.

Yeobo:  Honey/Dear

Soju:  Korean rice-liquor. Usually comes in bottles about the size of a beer bottle.

Pabo:  Idiot/fool/moron

Aish:  A korean exclamation in certain situations.

Sonsaeng-nim:  Teacher

Sajang-nim:  Manager

Sunbae:  Upper-classman or someone who has more experience in something than you do.

Hoobae:  Under-classman

Ssi:  An honorific attached to someone's name.

Imnida:  I am

Arasso:  I understand, or Do you understand?
