Personality :
Off-cam : It is very difficult to define the characteristics of Nam Jieun exactly. When you first met her, you’ll be thinking, ‘hey this girl is cold. Better stay away from her.’ She has this cold look set on her face which makes her look like she’s just another . But when you look inside, Jieun is a very friendly girl. She is often highly cautious or analytical when making friends because she doesn’t want to be hurt and mainly because she is very shy.

Although Jieun looks completely calm, composed and balanced, don’t think she doesn’t have mood swing. She can be from quiet to witty in a second. She can be really depressed if she thinks someone misjudged her or ill-treated her. In such a case, she may broad for months at a time. This stems for the fact that she does not feel secure as she seems to be and fear being ridiculed or laughed at. She will appear to be extremely confident but inside, she is unsure about her appearance.

Jieun is very aggressive towards what she wants. She lives by the motto, “I want you, and I’ll get you!” It doesn’t matter where or from what position she starts and how slowly she walks, she will still be at the top much before those, who were running in front of her. She will do it with such subtly that you won’t even know when she crossed all the milestones. She is just like a tortoise —she moves slowly but she will always win the race. She knows where to go and persistently move towards her goal no matter what it takes.

Jieun is short-tempered. If there is anything in the world she hates the most that is waiting — because mainly, she will always be on time. It is also advisable not to because she may take it too seriously. Though she may pretend otherwise, she seeks as much as compliment as the other girls, maybe even more although she doesn’t show it. Also, don’t ever make her mad — it’s a side of her that you will never like. When she’s mad, she will simply gave you the silent treatment and will treat you like that until you finally realized. Although she looks all calm and okay after you apologized, however, Jieun is the type who holds grudges and will always remember a single thing that you said or do that’ll hurt her. She likes making friends but the problem is she has trouble in opening up to new people for she’s afraid of being laughed at or being hurt. Show her that you appreciate her and make her feel secure; it will help her in opening up. She’s afraid of being useless to the others and always bottled up her feelings — she’d rather let you see her happy side rather than the depressed side of her. She can be careless at times. Sometimes, she would speak without thinking but would apologize quickly if she made a mistake.

When Jieun finally opens up to you, it’s like entering Narnia — only with rainbows and unicorns. With that look of hers, you wouldn’t expect that she is very athletic. Jieun is very caring and loyal, so no matter what happens, she will still be by your side although everybody leaves. She can be innocent and clueless at times. You won’t expect her to be so childish — her maturity depends on who she is with. She also likes doing skin ship to her unnies (she’s an extremely unnie-). She’s very bright and has a dry sense of humor – only those who are close to her understand. She’s a very great secret keeper; so all of your secrets are safe with her. She’s willing to do anything to the loved ones, just not everything.

Jieun hates relying on others. She rather the others relying on her. Whenever she’s hurt or depressed, she wouldn’t let others know for she thinks she is independent and mainly because she doesn’t like others to pity her. Her personality doesn’t include the trait of wishful thinking. She sees only these dreams that can be converted into reality. In other words, she only enters the boat only when she knows the water is safe.

On-cam : She's not like the real Jieun. Instead, she'll act goofy and all childish. Mainly because some said her appearance doesn't fit her personality. It's true though. She has a baby face but her personality is way mature. At interviews, she usually doesn't talk a lot for she afraid a nasty word will slip right after . Because if it's with the other members and fans, she will always be happy.

Likes :
★ Anything related to strawberry —  buy her one and you’ll be her BFF.
★Doraemon, hello kitty & shinchan — she is ultimate biased and collect any figurines or merchandise of these.
★Music — especially hip-hop & RnB.
★Electronics — she claimed that she can’t live without technology. She would bring her phone and laptop everywhere.

★ Being teased — especially being called “shorty” or even worse, “useless”
★Conceited people — she doesn’t like being near to them because she’s ‘allergic’ to them.

★Horror movies — she’s okay with horror movies but the surprising scene that made her scream is what she hates the most for she afraid she’s being laughed at. (Although most of the time she would only act like she’s okay with it when she’s actually scared inside)
★Mirror — because of her insecurities, she doesn’t like to look in the mirror.
★Discouragement — she thinks it’s stupid when people try to bring her down because she is passionate in her goal.

Habits :
★ When she’s nervous, she prefers everybody to keep quiet and only her babbling like there’s no tomorrow. She will keep on saying nonsense and act like she’s happy just to hide her nervousness.

History :
Growing up in Seoul and moved to California at the age 11, she is fluent in English and British accent. Her father is a businessman and her mother is a housewife (who doesn’t cook and spend money on doing spa and some rich stuffs). She have 2 older brothers and both of them are a pain in the especially Dohyun (the oldest). Jieun started writing songs when she first discovered Eminem when she was still 13 years old, all thanks goes to Dohyun. Life in California sure is boring and she only got a few friends because of her personality that is hard to open up for people. She is always teased and bullied back then, because she is the only girl in class that got “weird” eyes and speak “ching chong chong”. Because of this, she started to write songs to express her feelings. That hobby of hers is what make her want to join the Music Industry and show the people who look down on her wrong. She also enjoys singing and once joins the choir — which explains why she can reach the high notes.

At the age of 15, she and her family returned to Korea. She discovered that her second brother (Nam Hyunshik) were one of the members at the underground. He invited her to come to watch his performance and she was immediately interested in the kind of lifestyle at the underground. Since then, she joined the underground and was known as “Lil J”. The name Lil J weren’t her idea but her brother’s. Her first rap battle was her worst performance ever — she lost and she feels humiliated after the crowd laughed at her. Since then, she swore that she would win every battle and proves the crowd wrong. The next battles, she wins more than she loses. This explains why she is very good at free style rapping. Not just she’s good at free style rapping, she is also very good in speed rapping with the help of her brother’s girlfriend — E.Via.

Jieun comes from a wealthy family — explaining why she loves to wear branded stuffs (especially Adidas). However, she never brags about it and instead she kind of dislikes it. Her father wasn’t always at home to spend his time with them. But now that Jieun spend almost her time at the underground, she feels less lonely.

How you got in the group :
Even before debut, Jieun have already written a few songs and decided to do her own mix tape by her brother’s help. She posted some of her songs online and to her surprise, some of the netizens like it. She was originally suggested to be a trainee under Stardom Entertainment (with Hyunshik) but Stardom Entertainment was at that time not accepting trainees anymore and plus, her mother was against Jieun joining any entertainment. However, her hopes & dreams didn't die just like that. She found an advertisement about Scribbles Entertainment looking for trainees and she auditioned for Scribbles Entertainment without her mother knowing. Thankfully, she got in. Her mother couldn’t do anything about it but she’s okay with it at last.

Jeongwoo has a very special relationship with Jieun. To him, Jieun is the apple of his eyes. He always wanted a daughter and it turns out to be the youngest child — which is why he always spoiled Jieun. Jieun immediately go back to 9 whenever he’s home. However, due to his busy works, most of the time he won’t be home.

☞ Mother | Choi Minsook | 49 years old | Not an ordinary housewife.

Minsook and Jieun aren’t that close mainly because both of them has different interests. Minsook likes to spend money on jewelry and face treatments etc. While Jieun likes to collect money. Unlike any other mother & daughter, they never shared each-others’ secrets and Minsook often against what Jieun wants. But still, Jieun really loves her and she believes Minsook loves her too.

If there is anybody Jieun wants to push off the cliff, her number one on the list is Dohyun. He loves to tease Jieun, which cause Jieun to be mad at him. He would easily carry Jieun with one hand like she’s a sack of potato whenever Jieun’s mad. Dohyun is a clever man — whenever Jieun is sulking or giving him the silent treatment, he would buy her strawberry and act like nothing ever happen. However, Dohyun is protective towards Jieun and wouldn’t let her go anywhere strange looking guys.

☞ Second Brother | Nam Hyunshik | 21 years old | Trainee under Stardom Entertainment.

In the Nam family, Hyunshik is the closest to Jieun mainly because their “underground secret.” Hyunshik is the one who drag Jieun to the underground and the one who gives her his full support. He also inspires Jieun a lot. Although Hyunshik can be annoying sometimes, Jieun still respects him the most. Jieun just couldn’t get mad at him and disobey him. (Because he wouldn’t bring Jieun with him if Jieun doesn’t obey him)
