Almost Died

So yesterday I spent the day at the beach. I also learned to correctly use a boogie board. Now as I was boogie boarding I went out a little to far, to about my chest. I was doing okay until a wave crashed over me and a rip current started to form. Now I am not one to panic, but in this situation I freaked out. I started swimming sideways, but I was not stronger than the current. I got pulled under for a few second, now when my head popped up out of the water a young women noticed me, she tapped her boyfriend on the shoulder and pointed towards me. However before he came to grab the boogie board, which was keeping me afloat after I came up from the water. I kicked my legs and was able to escape the mini rip current. I managed, with diminishing strength to get to about waist deep in water, however the ocean wanted me to stay and the current was pulling me still. I took the strap off my wrist and gave the boogie board to my little sister who had stayed knee deep in water. And before I could even process what my body was doing I was able to walk back to my beach chair, lay down, dry off and have some of the food we had. Not five minutes later did the life guards say that people on boogie boards or just swimming past knee deep due to a strong rip current. This was the first time ever that I was afraid for my life, or afraid of dying. And today my legs, hips, and ankles hurt so badly from pushing myself through the strong current.
