The event dates back about ten days, but users still talk about it.

"The member of BEAST, Gikwang Lee has disguised himself as African American, that we had a good laugh. In the episode of Hot Brothers July 25, the BEAST have to undergo a test "does not get excited regardless of the situation" in which they found themselves in extreme situations that were supposed to make them "flipping out" .

Lee has filmed an advertisement Gikwang imagination in which he was disguised as an African-American. He had to do a series of ridiculous things, which broke the cool image that people have of filming commercials. Gikwang was thus transformed into an African-American and was embarrassed to have to wear disguises more pathetic as each other and find themselves in extreme situations.

When turning a false advertising for watermelons, Gikwang showed us all his acting skills and almost successful. [...] "

Many websites that talk about the news from the world of K-pop did not bother to talk about this story for fear that people react disproportionately and there are arguments between fans of k- pop. But this story has still several Daum Cafes and forums, and MBC (chain producing Hot Brother) has removed the photos of the emissions on Twitter and removed several videos on YouTube.

I have not been very surprised by falling on the story by chance on the internet, but I admit I was disappointed. I know that Koreans have a lot of misconceptions about "Outsiders", be they black, white, or even Southeast Asians (Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia ...) and we can understand why: Korea South is a country whose population is very mixed, over three-quarters of them have never seen a Black or White with their own eyes. This kind of isolation, lack of interbreeding, creates fear, misunderstanding and often racism. I remember an episode of "We Got Married" with JoKwon and Ga-In, they had to go take classes in English and Ga-In would not enter the cabin to talk with his teacher because he was white, blond with blue eyes. It took JoKwon behind with all his might to the cabin for her to enter!

The best example of racism, refusing to mix in South Korea is the "case Drunken Tiger." In case you do not know, the wife of rapper Drunken Tiger Korean origins of Afro-American and a lot of Korean Internet users have treated Drunken Tiger all the names after it has passed in a program with her son, Jordan . These users have worked hard on the boy in their comments by saying he should go back where he came "with his curly hair."

These reactions have shocked me because I'm sure the authors of these messages have songs from Beyonce, Usher and Snoop Dog on their iPod. I do not blame all Koreans, only those inspired many African Americans and their culture and then spit in their face by calling them dirty black. Strange, no?

Returning to the case Kwang Gi, some say this whole thing was a joke, the second degree. When you see all the facial expressions more humiliating than another that has made Kwang Gi, we can not claim that it is only the second degree. Although South Korea is a country where people do not mix, they know the stereotypes, they can not claim they did not know that some people might take it badly.

Many racist allusions are present in dramas like "Shining Inheritance" where the characters speak of blacks as barbarians and I'm sure you already came across references like watching dramas or other emissions.

Regarding Kwang Gi, I do not think it is racist. In comments that were made on this story, they forgot to clear that it is an idol and therefore he should do what its producers call him. It's not really an excuse, but I think it is not 100% responsible for what happened on this show, the real culprits are the producers of the show.

People are also suspicious of racist jokes about Asians, I do not say otherwise. But it is time for the Koreans, especially the K-Pop artists, realize they have fans from all backgrounds and it is certainly not only due to the Koreans that their music on. We give them love and respect and this is what we expect in return.

In France (and elsewhere), people have many misconceptions about Asians and called all Chinese. We, the fans of k-pop, dramas and Asian culture, we fight to ensure that people respect a little more Korean artists (and others), we are interested in their culture, their way of life ... and this is how we are thanked by the racist humor that is only the "second degree" for them.

South Koreans say their country is modern and open, but this kind of behavior is proving otherwise ... This is not staying closed for "Outsiders" that South Korea will come to give a modern and open, quite the contrary ...
