► happily ever after — han mari.

❥ hey to you, to you, to you babe
username: apathy.

profile link: [x]

name: le elle / pedobear / whatever.

❥ oh, i'm curious
name: han, mari 한마리.

nicknames: tanaka, mari - japanese name; marie, mary - other variations of her name (english).

age: twenty.

cake-day: 12/28/1991.

height: 171.

weight: 54 kg.

ethnicity: halfjapanese/halfkorean.

birth place: seoul, southkorea.

hometown: tokyo, japan.

language(s): korean - fluent; japanese - moderate (use to be fluent, by as time progressed, she forgot); english - basic.

personality: Frank, honest, humble. These are the labels that Mari's long familiar with, with praise from her relatives every wedding or whatever mass family congregation event she's made to attend. Mari denies it all as flattery: she's loud, blunt, and too lazy to really make full use of her capabilities. Mari will also be the first to acknowledge how selfish she is by nature. It isn't the limelight and public adoration that she desires, but she's very possessive of affection from personal relationships, and it takes a concerted effort for her to shove her jealousy issues into a corner.

Persistent and driven, Mari is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to things she cares about. She's passionate about what she does and never relents when she has a goal in mind. While she's not what most people would consider to be a normal girl, she accepts the fact that she's one of the few people that would risk everything for one thing.

Around most people, she's a very private individual. She often appears aloof and self-centered but it's not really the truth. Mari has only child tendencies but it's never to a point where she would pitch a fit if something didn't go her way. Her quiet and private nature leads others to believe that she's haughty and thinks too much of herself but it's pretty far from the truth. She believes that everyone is a little selfish and a little vain and she has no problem with expressing that.

Around her friends, those who have fully earned her trust, Mari can truly and fully be himself. Rude at times, too emotionally open at others, she has a wacky sense of humor and will do almost anything to cheer up someone who is feeling down. The chance to see this side of Mari is rare, given how careful she is to trust people fully.

She's fiercely loyal though she does tend to put her needs before anyone else. Her sense of space is something lacking and her regard for other people's feelings is something she needs to work on at times. She's pretty competitive when it comes down to the wire and would do a lot of things to ensure that she gets what she wants when the time comes for it.

On the inside, she's a pretty insecure individual though she carries herself as confident and always absolutely sure of herself in all situations. She's still pretty much a little girl but she really doesn't want anyone to see it. Mari is exceptionally good at keeping her feelings hidden from people and will always tell everyone that she's 'just fine' and 'don't worry about it' even if she's about to break.

family:
• tanaka, ryuu | jan. 4th | 39 | marine/business person | alive | reserved; private; childish; impeccable. those are the words to describe ryuu. he has fatherly senses, able to figure out when something was wrong with his daughter. a smooth talker, a witty person, a busy, busy man. he loves his daughter to heart, and even if he was busy, he'll make sure he has time for her.  | he played her father, but also, her mother. they're close. close to the point where she would even tell him who her crush was or who was talking about her. whenever mari has something to say, but is too shy to tell her friends, guess who she comes to? him. he's her structure. did i mention they have a remarkable father/daughter relationship?

• han, minyoung | apr. 4th | 38 | baker | dead | minyoung was a frivilous, flirty, and demanding woman. oftenly entitled a material girl — though, she really wasn't. just a woman with high standards, really. she was sweet, bubbly even, in her teenage years and that still stuck. inside, she was a classy woman. | birth was mari's first and last memory of her mother. she has heard stories from her aunt and let's say, she doesn't like them. everything is really hush hush and she doesn't talk about her mother a lot.

• byun, baekhyun | may 6th | 20 | student | alive | they're cousins (mari's mother's side — her aunt han jiyoung is his mother) and also happen to be very close. baekhyun's the one that goes to her for advice or he goes to her, vice versa. he's the younger brother she never had. she's all smiles and sunshine when she's with him. and, that also occurs to baekhyun as well.

family backgroundOn the 28th of December, 1991, Han Minyoung gave birth to a beautiful, shrieking baby that weighed 4kg, who had her dad's nose and her mother's eyes. She didn't come out of her mother's womb crying out profanities, wailing like it was the end of the world, no, that was her mother — and that might possibly be the only memory she has of her. Krystal couldn't blame her, or wanted to in the first place; Tanaka Ryuu was difficult and childish and irresponsible in every sense of the word but he loved his baby girl to his wits' end. He may not have been the best parent in the world but he was there for her every step of the way; something she was sure her own mother wouldn't have been able to do.

After turning five months old, they moved back to Ryuu's hometown in Tokyo where she spent most of her life growing up. He had a good job, made enough money to support himself and his daughter with the help of his dear sister, Ai who helped raise Mari like she was her own. At one, she learned how to walk. At two, she learned how to talk. At three, she could open doors on her own. At five, she realized her mom wasn't ever going to come back.

Mari was a naive girl but she wasn't stupid. She was aware that asking about her actual mother's whereabouts would turn her into a mess and that after a few mishaps, it was best to keep most things to herself. Ignorance is bliss, Ryuu would often tell her and those were the words that she lived by. If you saw something, just pretend you saw nothing and walk away — but there were certain times where such things were difficult for Mari to do. She's hardheaded and sympathetic, the worst combination of traits, and usually did do the opposite of what her family told her not to do. Including talking to strangers, but that's only because she believed that they were just lonely.

Elementary school was a breeze for her, except for the times when boys would pull her pigtails and she would accidentally kick them where it hurt most because that was what her father taught her! That got her into a lot of trouble so she learned how to defend herself emotionally, to put mental barriers around every corner of her mind because letting people in, she thought, was a weakness, a vulnerability, but she hardly defended herself physically due to her tiny frame. (Her favorite word was "dummy". She called everyone that pulled her hair dummies and that made them cry.) But even being as tiny as she was, it didn't stop her from playing in mud, running around, playing hide-and-go-seek in the dark.

The rest of her life from that point was, rather, bland. Her father was in and out of the house, leaving her alone. School was boring; but she made a few friends along the way. Her aunt Ai moved to Canada — leaving her with nobody to depend on for "girl" advice. And now, she's in Seoul because of her dad's job's relocation. Which happened three years ago, at the age of seventeen. Now, she uses her mother's surname instead of her father's just to fit into the environment around her.

friends:
• best friend | nam woohyun | feb. 8th | 20 | waiter/student | greasy, greasy, greasy. what more can i say? he cracks jokes, says compliments as if they're vowels, and tries to hook up with any dashing girl he sees. he's loud and cranky — some people do wonder how he and mari are best friends, even. but he's a romantic. he has feelings, too. and he treasures his group of friends deeply. hurt them, and you'll have to deal with him. | people find girl and boy friends weird. but they don't. they're close, really close. you'll often see them talking, pranking other people together, or even, tickling each other if they're that bored. like a true brother and sister.

• best friend | hwang "tiffany" miyoung | aug. 1st | 23 | manager at p-ink, a clothing store | calls herself a happy virus, still, because she loves to make people around her feel happy. or precisely, just her friends or some people she knows (but then, she has a tendency to befriend with anyone). a great cook, although not a really great one. somehow, she can make kimchi jjigae perfectly by herself. and she's always longing for her mom's homemade dishes, all the time. she's the motherly one of the group. scolding them if they do something wrong or giving them a pat on the head if they did something right. | along with woohyun, they make the three best buds and are close enough, they get called "family". though, tiffany and mari are more close to each other than with woohyun. secrets are told and lies are barely spoken. tiffany is the one mari goes to for some girl time; shopping, eating, etc.

rival(s): jung "krystal" soojung | oct. 24th | 18 | student | it's not all rainbows and sunshine with her. she's cold and will do what she wants; not caring what other thinks of her. she speaks her mind and surely won't stop there. you'll get rude comments from krystal and maybe a slap in the face if you annoy her. but, after all, she's just a teenager developing. you can't blame her. | what if she's younger by a few years? that doesn't change anything. it all started somewhere in the past few years. some racism jokes (about the japanese culture) were said and that's when things got rocky. to get straight to the point — they never got along. and the jokes, teasing, etc., still continues today. except mari spits the replies krystal makes right back to her.

❥ lemme see you shake it and shake it for me
desired story: five.

backup: one.

love interest: xiluhan | apr. 20 | 21 | student/whatever job to make ends meet.

love interest's personality: Above everything else, Luhan loves to have a good time. It fits well with his easygoing, fun loving nature. Raised alongside three girls, he has the tendency to be more dramatic than your typical male and is overtly passionate about the most insignificant things, while generally being lazy and indifferent about subjects that should actually matter.

But, don't let his face fool — he's a strong judge of character. A first meeting with sour tones is bound to be an only meeting with Luhan. He is an advocate for the underdog, should he ever become aware of bullying situations. He's incredibly private about his past, and anyone who delves too deep or bothers him too a point will find nothing more than an ice cold shoulder. There is no clear gender bias to any of his sudden detestments, as his original bullies were both male and female.

As a side-note, he has a very strong sweet tooth. In case, you know, anyone wanted to try and get close to him or apologize to him or perhaps just surprise him with a bit of special happiness.

relationship with personality: they're not as close as they were before, so to say. he's dating someone currently and she's at the other side, feeling pangs of jealousy. the other girl's sweet, kind, friendly — everything luhan sees in a girl. they speak, but ever-so rarely these days. mari misses him, but somewhere inside her, she knows that that can never be. he's over their relationship, but all she's doing now, is trying. but, building up the courage to confess to him might take longer than she expected.  and all she can do now, is go on those blind dates her friends set up, and hope someone could fill his spot — like those dates work anyway.

history with love interest: they were assigned a class project together and she liked him, he liked her. three years they've been together, but things can change. he was tired of their relationship — it wasn't her, of course not, but he wanted to seek out "new" things. "maybe we should start seeing other people," he said. and that was their end point. new beginnings started, the couple wh owas envied all across campus was no longer alive.

backup love interest: kevinwu/wuyifan/kris | nov. 6th | 20 | student/whatever job to make ends meet.

backup love interest's personality: It’s hard to tell whether or not Kris’s as cool as he acts. The boy walks like he’s got nothing on his mind and smiles very little, making him sometimes appear aloof. His seemingly cold outward appearance and mannerism probably don’t make for the best first impressions, a factor that Kris tries to rectify by taking the initiative to speak to others. Despite his average Korean skills, he’ll work hard to make himself an approachable person. This hardly makes him any less clueless about social interactions, however.

Since language is such a barrier to communication, Kris tries his best to speak positively whenever possible. This way, even if what he says makes little to no sense, he’ll at least have a chance to make someone smile (or laugh).

relationship with backup love interest: it's not all lovey dovey anymore, isn't it? he's moved on and dating other girls as if they were people without feelings. but on the other side of the line, mari isn't doing so well. dates she had with other boys are a blunder — nothing could compare to him. but, she doesn't have the courage to speak up. what if he says no? what if? one day, maybe. but she has to do it quick. it might be too late already, if you gather up all the details.

history with backup love interest: it all started with their parents. "oh, wufan, that girl's cute for you! you should go ask her out." "mari, he's a good guy for you. just go on a date with him once, please? for your dad?" their parents were friends — old time friends, to be precise. and, they both went on a date just to please their parents. it was surprising that it hit off well. and barely a few weeks later, they're dating. and a year later, they've brokened up. reasons are still unknown and both do not want to talk about it.

❥ baby, i'm not a monster
requests: not much loveydovey stuff, y'know? otherwise than that, i'm completely okay with what you throw at mari.
