(Background)
Hwang Ilsung is a proudly born and purebred Busan man. He was raised by his father to always live by the famous western, manly, “Busan-like” phrase, “Actions speak louder than words.” Ilsung naturally followed his father’s instructions as any good son would. The two took the expression literally rather than metaphorically, becoming sooner to start a brawl with a ten man gang than discuss a problem calmly. The duo was known for their cold, unapproachable nature and easily ignited temper. They were a pair of rash, hotheaded idiots that were out to prove to the world that their small builds meant nothing in respect to their competence. Practically inseparable, the father and son were each other’s best friends from Ilsung’s childhood through most of his high school career.

Ilsung always had a passion and talent that he regrettably hid from his father- singing. His interest began when he instructed to recite a proverb of his choice as punishment for starting a fight at school. Having in mind that a man does everything wholeheartedly, Ilsung decided to research the topic thoroughly, stumbling across the world of poetry in the process. No matter how much effort he applied, the young boy was simply unable to memorize any proverbs properly. Eventually after multiple failed attempts at delivering the presentation, a teacher suggested that he perform a musical adaptation instead. A new option within reach, Ilsung channeled all of his energy into perfecting the song- which was noticeably simpler to remember due to its tune. Finally, nearly two weeks after the original assignment, Ilsung successfully sang what turned out to be a ballad to the class. Almost immediately, he was praised for his fine delivery and unexpectedly powerful voice.

That day he witnessed the immense impact a song could have on its receivers. Touched by what an endowment his voice had shown to be, Ilsung desperately wished to simply become the best singer there was. Unfortunately, his father called the lyrics of songs flowery and indirect- things that a true man should never be associated with. Ilsung’s dream was childish, of course, but it had planted a seed that continued to grow and flourish, not even his father could stop its development.

As he matured, Ilsung realized that a truly talented artist could not only hit the right notes, but he or she could also express his or her emotions clearly to the audience. To achieve this, Ilsung would have to change his whole demeanor. Under the assumption that knowledge would make him more understanding and communicable, he immersed himself in literature. He read everything he could get his hands on while still avoiding the suspicion of his father. During this period of self-reflection, Ilsung’s developed a strong sense of empathy for others; he also acknowledged that he was a homoual.

Perpetually afraid that his actions might be viewed as a form of opposition or betrayal of his father, for much of his younger years Ilsung kept his interests clandestine and only practiced when he was sure he was alone. It wasn’t until he was casted for MSP3L that he made his skills known.

(Personality)
Old habits die hard. This old saying almost perfectly describes Hwang Ilsung.

Ilsung lived as the perfect Busan man for nearly seventeen years of his life, only straying from the strong appearance in private. Needless to say, an aloof air is something that has been engraved into his nature. Though he is small in height and build, the young man emits the sort of aura that you would expect from a large, uncultured thug. To add onto this effect, Ilsung has an extremely violent disposition. He is usually a man of few words and, unless spoken to, keeps to himself. Once prompted to speak, however, he can get quickly annoyed- something that he curses himself for. He’s managed to keep his old habit of immediately throwing fists under check, but once provoked, there’s no stopping the little devil.

Ilsung is and has always been a perfectionist. He was the best thoughtless man a man could be, and now he is striving to become the exact opposite. He is, quite honestly, tired of being a loner and wishes to be spoken to, but his cold atmosphere and fiery attitude scare most people away. Below his unapproachable demeanor, he has an intricate and extremely intelligent network of ideas constantly running through his mind. He knows exactly what he wishes to do and say, he just hasn’t quite yet figured out how to cast off his old tendencies and execute his desired actions. This oftentimes results in him confusing himself and others.

For example, Ilsung still has not conquered the Seoul dialect, so when he speaks he is acutely aware of whether or not he is revealing his Busan accent. He focuses on it so much, in fact, that he stutters- only resulting in him making himself look like a fool, upsetting himself, igniting his own anger, and unintentionally chasing off the person who had initiated the conversation. In a sense, Ilsung is consistently working against himself without realizing it. The harder he tries to cover up his self-proclaimed imperfections, the more bewildered he becomes.

One thing Ilsung is completely sure about is his vehemence for understanding music and for bettering his singing ability. Trying to figure out even more emotions he can convey to his audience, he always has his nose stuck in a book- adding even more to the “don’t you dare talk to me” ambience he seems to radiate. Due to his compulsion to read, Ilsung has grown extremely empathetic. He feels guilty easily- causing him to be almost excessively upset when he does lose his temper and hurt someone.

If one manages to reach below the offputting appearance, one would find a extremely caring, protective, and witty character just waiting to shine. Ilsung treats those who he considers his friends with in a sort of fatherly or motherly manner. He watches over them and is nearly as excited about their achievements as his own. He feels comfortable around them and freely speaks in his native accent, allowing him to properly convey his humor that is so often stifled by his stutter. This shows, unbeknownst to him, that some of his true charms lie within the Busan man he tries to hide.

In short, Ilsung is trying to become an individual who is patient, sophisticated, and well-loved. Though Ilsung has equipped himself with all that he needs to become that person, one cannot simply toss his life’s mannerisms away. He is caught in the awkward stage of mid-transformation where the perfect result is ready to be seen but is hidden under multiple layers of mud that may just contain jewels in themselves. Ilsung just needs that special someone to reach far enough within him to discover who he really is and to search the muck long enough to find the hidden gems.

♫ Most of Ilsung's fans are his fans because of how flustered he always looks when he's asked to speak during interviews or shows.

(Family Members)
♫ Hwang Jaesuk | Father | 43 | Jaesuk and Ilsung were extremely intimate until Ilsung decided to pursue singing. Their relationship has been extremely strained since Ilsung became a trainee. Though he is disappointed that his son did not stay on the manly path, jaesuk is secretly proud of Ilsung's accomplishments. Never under any circumstances would he admit that to Ilsung, though.
♫ Hwang Mieun | Mother | 42 | Mieun was the sort of mother that proves all the typical stereotypes as true. She never worked a day in her life, but she never rested a sing day either. She was constantly in the laundry room or kitchen. Ilsung was noteably closer with his father than hsi mother throughout his childhood. As of late, however, mother and son have grown closer due to Mieun's open support of his dream.

(First Friend)
♫ Jang Dongwoo | Infinite | Dongwoo is known for his infectious laugh and laid back nature. At first he may seem dumb and oblivious, but its been acknowledged that he's a genius beneath the unintelligent facade. He is open-minded an accepting, a perfect match for Ilsung. Unsurprisingly the two "clicked" upon their first conversation. The two met after The Archetypes's debut performance. Dongwoo had approached Ilsung despite his dark appearance, congratulated him on his debut, and commented on his powerful voice. When Ilsung had responded with a shaky Seoul accent and a stutter, Dongwoo had laughed and told him to talk comfortably in his native accent. They warmed up to each other quickly.

(Love Interest 1)
♫ Lee Junghwan (Sandeul) | B1A4 | Sandeul is practically Ilsung's better half. He is bubbly, enthusiastic, gullible, and extremely hyper. Well-loved and accepted for his random, dorky train of thought and actions, Sandeul has a quirky character that one cannot sismply find anywhere in Korea. Like Ilsung, he is Busan born and is considered the power-vocal of his group. In fact, that is what got Ilsung's attention. A fan since B1A4's debut, Ilsung idolizes the way Sandeul is just as passionate about singing as he is. He is amazed at how quickly Sandeul's cutesy nature drastically changes to something more charismatic as soon as he has the microphone in front of him. To Ilsung's delight, the two actually met on a show soon after the Archetypes's debut- both of the vocalists being recruited for their strong voices. Completely oblivious to-or perhaps intentionally ignoring- the atmosphere that Ilsung naturally gives off, Sandeul had taken a liking to rambling to him inbetween, and occasionally during, the performances of the other guests. The two had exchanged numbers after the show and now text frequently. Though they were initially only admirers of each other as artists, as the two grow closer, a questionable bond is forming between them. Sandeul finds himself wanting to spend more time with the unexpectedly cute and witty rookie- meanwhile Ilsung begins to wonder if he is starting to develop feelings past the safe net of friendship.

(Love Interest 2)
♫ Lee Sungyeol | Infinite | Lee Sungyeol is a childish prankster who is always laughing. He's persistent in his affection even after being rejected and will not stop short of body gags to earn another's love. Only slightly concerned with his image, Sungyeol says and does what he wants- oftentimes giving others the opinion that he's weird or, more kindly put, 4d. Ilsung and Sungyeol have a love-hate relationship, though on each side there is either more hate than love or love than hate. Sungyeol finds Ilsung a cute and interesting individual, drawn to him initially by intrigue that eventually grows into a strong fondness for the unique rookie. Ilsung sees Sungyeol as annoying and charmless, undedicated even to improving his skills in his line of work. Even so, Ilsung finds himself gradually forming an endearment for the choding. The two probably would be on much better terms if their first meeting had been more pleasant. Dongwoo had invited Ilsung to join him and his bandmate, Sungyeol, for a cup of coffee. Though Ilsung was not fond of the drink, he accepted the invitation to spend some rarely found time with his friend. Everything went well upon arriving, the three ordered coffee, and two of them drank it. Sungyeol, a known fanatic of the drink, would not let Ilsung live down the fact that he was wasting a perfectly good cup of iced pure heaven. Ilsung lost his temper and tossed the whole cup into his sunbae's face, stating that it wasn't wasted while being used like that. Immediately he grew embarrassed, bowed, apologized, and fled the scene. Ilsung couldn't stand to look Sungyeol in the eye since then.

I sort of fell into a llittle bit of a fangirl while I was writing Sandeul. (I apologize. D=) Please enjoy Ilsungie <3 I can't wait for this to play out! *whispers- I'm curious to see how in the world a guy can get both loves. ;D
I tried to pick the most bad-, still pretty picture of Chihoon that I could. I figured it would represent Ilsung better if the picture gave off a cold-ish look? I hope you decide to use Chi Hoon as the uzzlang fo Ilsungie <3 I wrote the application with Chihoon in mind =) (Well derp Whisk, everyone wants them to use their first ulzzang.)
