Authors and their stories

I am going to utilize broken English in this post.

I have been away from AFF for a while until my 'comeback' recently. There were many changes I noticed (story feed) and a flood of fanfiction under the Infinite tag. And I still remember the days when Infinite did not even make the Most Popular tags. In other words, I am so happy for them. The new fans brought their popularity to a whole new level and the boys definitely deserve all that attention after working so hard and dedicatedly for their Inspirits.

One of the early Infinite fanfiction I read was a story titled 'Star-Crossed' written by baroxas (or known by some as Chasley before she changed her username). Although written from a 'You' narrative, it was very well-written with beautiful prose and effective sentence structure. Her words made me experience the characters and their emotions in a whole new way, to feel something deep as hurt and sacrifice and not just a fleeting moment of 'aww...that's so cute' or 'omg, he's so sweet'.

I vaguely remember that in her foreword, she wrote that the story was something she drew inspiration from 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' and 'Romeo and Juliet'. It was a Myungsoo-centered fic, in which 'You' are a fire-bender, and Myungsoo a water-bender. The two clans has been at feud since ancient times and through the course of the story, there was the revelation of history, discovery of the reincarnation concept, power and sacrifice and a realistic love-at-first-sight moment. The story had over  100 subscibers and many positive and meaningful comments left by enthusiastic readers.

I subscribed to her newer Infinite fanfiction titled 'Euphoria' (if I could recall properly, the title is Euphoria), which was of the sci-fi/dystopian action genre. And just like Star-Crossed, I was hooked.

Today, when I searched her name on AFF, I found that she has deleted all of her fanfics, along with a shoutout that she was probably going to close her AFF account soon.

I was devastated.

I regret not making acquaintances with such a wonderful author.

I really enjoy reading Infinite-related fanfiction. She wrote one of the best, so did ErisChaotica and Katsunotsubasa. I also enjoy fics from omo904 and gardinia_love93.

They are the authors I would go to first if I want to read a good Infinite fanfiction.

I don't know what are the standards of a good Infinite fanfiction, or the standards of a good fanfiction in general. I see so many good authors that are unappreciated, underrated and underexposed. I tried reading so many of the latest Infinite fanfiction everyday, and very little captured my attention and heart like theirs do. The more I read, the more I grow to love the previous stories that I have read from the above authors.

I don't know. Is it me not looking hard enough? Is it me not looking at the right places? Maybe I could do with some help from someone recommending me satisfying good reads.

I admit that my writing is not perfection (proof is I have been losing subscribers).  I'm not criticizing the community or anything. I just want to experience again the dedication excellent authors put into their works to create a secret world.

Also, I doubt anyone is reading whatever it is I'm ranting here. However, if you are reading, feel free to share you opinions and comments in the comment box below.

Peace :)
