Relay for Life

Whoo! Relay for Life! :D

you guys are probably wondering what it is huh? well, i'll tell you guys. hehe. (:

Relay for Life is basically an event where you raise money to help fight against cancer. All the money, or shall i say most, of the money from the event goes to the American Cancer Society. it helps pay for cancer treatments, new research for cancer, etc.

it's a really good cause! XD

well, i just finished my 3rd year of participating in this event! whoo! hehe.

i'll explain what you do.

first of all, you have to make a team up to 15 people. yeah, that's a lot of people, i know. lol. then you and your team starts fundraising money. it's easy and simple just like that. ^^

also, the event is all night long. NO SLEEPING! so, i didn't sleep at all. i stayed up all night long. gosh, it was tiring. lol. 23 hours of being awake is a pain in the behind, i'll tell you that.

then the event comes and boom, you and your team goes to wherever the event is and hang out. it's more like a hang out/sleep over at school. well, for me it was. (X

it's really cool. i love participating in Relay for Life. it makes me feel like i not only helped myself but others who are suffering from cancer. it's a really touching event also. many people who participate in this event, has usually lost a loved one from cancer.

as for me, i haven't lost anyone for cancer but that doesn't mean i can't help them. i can fundraise money and have those money help researchers look for a cure or medicine to help slow down the process of cancer, right? right.

while, at the event i met a survivor. it was amazing. let me tell you why. she's been a survivor for 9 years. like i mean 9 years. that's a long time once you think about it. God bless her so been a survivor for so long. i know for a fact that she's thankful she's a survivor and so is her husband. it's a miracle. it was just amazing to know that she's been a survivor for so long.

the event touches your heart. it makes you feel lucky because there are people out there suffering come cancer and there are times when they aren't able to do anything about it anymore and they lose the fight.

my best friend had just lost her mom due to cancer. it was so heart breaking when i found out. she wasn't emotionally or spiritually prepared for it. before her mom passed, she was planning on doing Relay for Life, but after the passing. she couldn't do it anymore. she didn't know if she had the strength in her to not cry at the event so she didn't participate this year. right now, she's still coping with her mom's death but she's getting a little better. it may not be much but hey, she's working at it so that's what counts, right?

i'm so very thankful to those who went to the Relay for Life event yesterday at my school. it was amazing to know how many people are there to support the fight for cancer. there's no other words to say but it was amazing. i was touched from the bottom of my heart.

though it's been my 3rd year participating, the feeling of having so many people there support the fight against cancer is just amazing. i love Relay for Life. it's one of the best events i love participating in. (:
