Spiral (9.29.10)

I wrote this today in class~ Happy birthday to my friend! (CrystalQueen4Ev) She's sixteen now. (She's old! XD) I wrote this for you, so I hope you like it. XD

"Spiral"

There she was--the most perfect girl anyone could ask for. She was beautiful, she was kind, she was generous, smart, modest, athletic, and helpful. The words to describe her could go on forever. Her eyes shone brighter than the stars. When she smiled it was as if time had stopped. And her soft voice was like a sweet melody to sore ears. Yun-Ho couldn't stop staring at her. He was mesmerized. There she was--his best friend, Kim Myo-Un.

"Yun-Ho-yah!" There it was, that remedial voice that could bring him to life--her voice. Beautiful, graceful, serene...

"Yun-Ho-yah? Hello..? Yun-Ho-ah!"

"O-oh. hey, Myo-Un-ah," Yun-Ho finally replied, realizing he'd been staring at her. 'How embarrassing...'

"Are you all right? Your face is a little red," Myo-Un inquired, concerned about the other.

"I'm fine," he dismissed, laughing. 'She's so nice...worrying about me...'

She giggled softly. That laugh. Oh, that laugh. If Yun-Ho's heart had just stopped beating, it wasn't unexpected. Myo-Un always had that effect on him, as if he'd just died and gone to Heaven. But that was fine with him, because he at least got to hear her laugh. Her sweet, sweet laugh...

"Yun-Ho-yah, did you hear me?"

"Huh? S-sorry, what was that?" That was twice in a row. 'Smooth Yun-Ho. Very smooth.'

"I asked if you were ready for the test today," she stated, smiling.

Oh that smile that transcended the boundaries of time, that smile that--Wait. What? Test? There was a test today? How could he have forgotten? This test would be worth seventy percent of his final grade, and he didn't study. Now his spot at second-best in the class would be in danger. That spot next to Myo-Un. Myo-Un, number one in the class. The only spot next to her was going to be taken by someone else. And it wasn't going to be Jung Yun-Ho, that was for sure.

But before Yun-Ho could spiral into eternal depression, Myo-Un handed him her spiral full of detailed notes and neatly drawn diagrams.

"Thank you so much, Myo-Un-ah!" Yun-Ho gratefully accepted the notebook and smiled sheepishly. Myo-Un laughed (oh, that wonderful laugh) and turned back to her desk, probably to work on tomorrow's homework, Yun-Ho guessed, which he found very cute.

The next day started off as usual, but it wasn't going to be the same. No, today was a special day. Everything was going to go perfectly, and Jung Yun-Ho was not going to be humiliated. Not one bit. He was not going to mess up, because Jung Yun-Ho had something to say, and he was going to make sure he was heard. Determination was his strength, and it was stronger than ever today. Nothing was going to bring him down today. Not him. Not Jung Yun-Ho.

Or so he thought.

He had everything planned. Every possible situation was taken under consideration. But nothing was going the way it was supposed to. He tried to talk to Myo-Un in the morning, but for some reason, she came in the classroom right before the bell rang, and class had then started. He was even the first one to class. He even arrived before the teacher, so that the teacher had to open the classroom doors for him. He waited. He waited for Myo-Un.

After homeroom, Myo-Un ran out of the classroom in such a hurry that Yun-Ho couldn't even say 'hey' to her. At lunchtime, Yun-Ho sat at their usual table, but Myo-Un didn't show. She wasn't even in the cafeteria. Never had Yun-Ho felt so alone as he did now. There were so many other students crammed at the same table, but he felt like he was the only one there. He felt so empty--so lost.

Yunh-Ho was the first one to English class, the only other class he shared with Myo-Un. But just as in homeroom, she didn't appear until right before the bell.

Why was today so messed up? This wasn't how it was supposed to be. Today was supposed to be perfect. So why wasn't it?

The end of the day had come, and Yun-Ho spotted Myo-Un in the hallway. This was it. It was now or never. Gathering all the strength he had left, Yun-Ho pushed his way through the sea of students, closer and closer to Myo-Un. Just a few more feet... Almost...almost...

"Myo-Un-ah!"

She turned around and faced him, smiling brightly. "Oh! Hi, Yun-Ho-yah."

"Um...er..." Yun-Ho stumbled over his words, and his face began to redden from embarrassment. He looked at her face, and he saw her smiling. With a newfound strength, Yun-Ho finally was able to say, "I...I have something for you, Myo-Un-ah."

She was about to respond when a third party entered, a boy by the name of Park Yoo-Chun.

"Hey, Myo-Un-ah," Yoochun gently kissed her cheek and wrapped an arm around her waist. "Ready to go?"

"Just a minute. Yun-Ho-yah was saying something." She curiously looked at Yun-Ho, patiently waiting.

"Um..."

What could he say? He couldn't even look at the two before him, much less say what was on his mind. That terrible feeling was taking over again, weighing down his heart to the pit of his stomach. Without even knowing it, the words came out of his mouth.

"Happy birthday..."

From his school bag, he took out a poorly-sewn teddy bear with a red bow around its neck and handed it to Myo-Un.

"It's your birthday today?" Yoo-Chun asked, oblivious as to how horrible Yun-Ho was feeling at the moment.

"Thank you, Yun-Ho-ah. It's very cute." She held the teddy bear to her heart and smiled, but Yun-Ho didn't see it.

"You're welcome. I'll see you later," Yun-Ho mumbled so quickly that the words sounded like a different language to him. And without another word, he turned and left the other two.

He wanted to get away from there--far, far away from that place. He wanted to forget what just happened--everything he had seen.

He wanted to cry.

haha! no, it's fine. i could wait for that one shot.
but this article you wrote...LOVE IT!

except that i noticed one thing. =]
if a syllable in a korean name ends in a vowel..
the next syllable for that would be -yah.

example. yunho-yah. junsu-yah.

but it's fine. =] i just noticed that, though.
no matter what the error.... I STILL LOVE IT!

even though it's not meant for me, i love it. =]
write more!
