Cha Dara Ni is not Korean, but a Hmong American from San Francisco, California; she spent her childhood with her best friend Krystal Jung, and learned Korean little by little, until the age of 17, where Darani is currently fluent. She is very smart, and can converse in 4 languages fluently. She possesses the talents of playing various instruments, and her beautiful singing voice. Darani has an AB personality, she’s compatiable with anyone: Personality type AB: Darani is passionate about singing, although one of her weaknesses is dancing; she is determined to do things correctly. She is very emotional, friendly, trusting and empathetic. Her patience, concentration, and intelligence are admirable. At times she may be shy and outgoing, and hesitant and confident. She is a person who has the leadership skills to draw everyone’s attention to her. No, she’s not a snobby person, more like a young woman at the age of 17, who maintains a certainly high level of maturity. She will speak in a serious manner…up until she gets really mad!! When she first debuted with Tropical Fruits, it was really hard on her to adjust to the real world, but now with all the unnies and dongsaeng that she had, she finally felt like she belonged there. She was afraid to go alone to South Korea, but with Krystal there, she feels relieved. She can befriend anyone easily, a nice and easy going person. She didn’t expect her popularity to rise so fast. Due to her flawless beauty, she got the name ‘Beautiful Girl Darani”>>Blood Types AB are known to be very charming and popular. She’s never been in a relationship before, but liked Taemin since running into him.
History:
As noted before, Darani is not Korean, but a Hmong American. She is the youngest of two, and has loving, parents. As the daughter of the rich Cha family, Darani has never had a dull moment in her life. Growing up in the states, she attended an art academy for early starters. She’s been involved with learning various instruments and acting in plays.
At the age of 8, she was diagnosed with asthma and chronic laryngitis which led to her parents’ restriction of letting her sing, because they will strain her vocal chords. When she was hospitalized for her frequent illnesses, she avoided talking to her parents for two weeks if this is what it takes to get her parents to understand her. Her dad, Mr. Cha loved Darani so much, and is willing to make a deal with her, he is willing to let her continue with singing and performing arts, if only, she will promise to attend Stanford University when she graduates. This meant the world to her, as an 8 year old, why worry about college life, it’s too far into the future, and Darani made her promise. After the long months of being hospitalized, she has been treated for her illness, and it has gone vacant, she was allowed to go to school and participate in the academy performances again. She’s always done things that will please her parents, but there are other desires that she wants to accomplish in her life.
Nine years later at the age of 17 now, Darani is expected to graduate from high school and attend Stanford University in California like she had promised her parents at the age of 8. But she doesn’t want to; she’d rather graduate high school and continue with performing arts. When she revealed her college plans to her parents, her dad was against it. He didn’t want her illness to come back, despite the asthma that she has. Darani, the determined girl that she is, convinced her parents to let her continue singing by secretly signing for a talent show, to prove that singing was her passion, and she is willing to do anything to acquire it. Her brother Cha Jae Din, or Ayden, has always encouraged her to strive towards what she wants to be. And Ayden, knowing of his sister’s plan, helps her to get her parents to attend the talent show by saying that Darani is participating in the play, but was not announced the lead because she was aware of the many singing lines and didn’t want to strain her vocal chords. But, Darani was going to do her solo stage, to prove to her parents that singing is the only things she desires.
Her parents finally gave in, and let her audition for the International SM Entertainment Auditions in San Francisco. And now, guess what? She proved to her parents that despite her illness, she’s willing to follow her dreams, and moves to South Korea under SM Entertainment, and start as a trainee. Now, she accomplished her dream of landing the spot as one of the main vocalist and image of the new girl group Tropical Fruits debuting under SM Entertainment.

Naming Darani: Chuan is a well known architect, and when he traveled around the world visiting different architectural galleries, and when doing a project in South Africa, came across the name Dara, which means “the beautiful one” in the language Swahili. While on his honeymoon with his beautiful wife, Cha Kalida, in Indonesia/Singapore, he found out that Dara means “girl” in the Indonesian language Bahasa. He promised himself that when in the near future when his life is blessed with a daughter, he will call her Darani, his “Beautiful Girl”.

She’s very smart, other than culinary school; she earned her PhD in Psychology from Stanford University. It’s really hard for her to let her little girl go out into the world, however she has faith and believes in her daughter to make good choices. She is really supportive of her daughter, and will do anything to defend. [One thing she will do is to embarrass Ayden, her son, when he goes out on dates… for Darani…. Sulli, dubbed as the ‘One Million Dollar Smile’ and ‘Pretty Courtesan’, becomes aware of the new girl group’s image Darani, the foreigner who will soon eventually take over her ‘Pretty girl’ image to the public. But while Tropical Fruits are practicing their choreography for their debut ______, Darani has a hard time getting the dance routines straight. Taemin, as the dance machine in SHINee has liked her ever since day 1 of running into her, and wanted to get to know her better, and agreed to help Darani improve on her dancing skills. Starts out as daily “ENCOURAGEMENT” texts, which leads onto dance practices, chatting, daily meeting in the SM Building…. Basically starts out as friends, and then the CONFESSION of their true feelings for each other… and a CUTE love story to follow!

“It’s ok. I haven’t seen you before, you’re new here right?” He asks her.

“Nice getting to know you too Taemin-ssi. I’m afraid I have to go, Krystal must be waiting for me. See you around” I said quickly, bowed again, and hurried over to meet Krystal. [They’ve been best friends growing up together in San Francisco, California since the age of 6.]
“Krystal, I kinda ran into some one here. I’m coming now.” I said and embarrassingly walked away to the dance room.
