BREAKING SOONYEE: The Breaking Point

If anyone was curious as to why exactly this fan fiction exists, it’s rather simple:

Anti-fans.

Yes, anti-fans.

I’m not positive how everyone defines an ‘anti.’ However, my definition of an ‘anti’ may be different than the norm. Not only do I consider people in anti-groups anti-fans, I consider the dangerously obsessed to be anti’s as well, when they are crazy about an idol to the point where it’s disturbing. We all know them, or almost all of us. The blood letters, unhealthy obsessions. They get mad when they aren’t contacted after they send letters, when their ‘bias’ has a girlfriend or when any girl is remotely close them, with no thoughts of the idol’s happiness or how they themselves affect those around them in their personal lives.

Well, one day I read an article on anti-fans: http://www.soompi.com/news/anti-fans-and-their-power-in-the-music-industry

This article stemmed what is now ‘Breaking Soonyee.’ Soonyee is the product of my minds thoughts on how one may be treated after such interaction with an idol, how they may react to finding terroristic threatening on the internet, especially directed towards her sister. What may occur physically (^ examples towards the end of the article above—though those things happened to actual idols and not people whom happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time), mental effects, how it may change her attitude.

The Breaking Series, in essence, is about two people of completely different personalities, Soonyee and Eunhee, dealing with the same problems: stalking, physical threats, bullying, internet infamy, how it changes their family, their new life, their mental health. How it changes Eunhee’s school life, just how people act around them (which hopefully explains why there are two different versions). And these kinds of things do happen to people related to idols. A lot.

For example, I was talking with a friend and I was talking about ‘anti-fans.’ Sure, she thought it was insane, when directed at the idols, but when I was talking about all the hate and threatening Jonghyun’s previous girlfriend must have received, she mentioned something about how she’d be pissed it Taemin had a girlfriend, and how she’d want to kill her, all kinds of insanity. Needless to say, I lost all respect for her.

However, though with her it was an exaggerated reaction, if Taemin did begin dating someone, his significant other would get a lot of hate, if not violence, directed towards them. Even if the fan reaction does seem exaggerated, in reality, it’s not. It happens all the time.
