Soyeon was born in Seoul, South Korea and attended kindergarten when she was 5. After a year later her and her family moved to New York and Soyeon continued her education there. Soyeon had a hard time learning English and was often made fun of by her classmates, however that didn't stop her from working hard. When Soyeon was 10 she officially passed all the ESL exams and was considered a fluent speaker from then on.
After years Soyeon still kept practicing her English and went to the advanced level. She had very good grades in school which made her parents very proud. Soyeon's previuos dream was to be a doctor, she knew she had a talent for rapping but she only rapped for fun, she never thought she would ever pursue music as a career. However, when Soyeon started to compose songs/raps just because she was bored, she realized it was something she loved to do and realized that music is really the road she wants to take.
At first her parents were against it but when Soyeon's younger brother wanted to pursue music as a career as well they reluctantly allowed them to go back to Korea by themselves since Soyeon was responsible to take care of the both of them.
