To the child we love, Ryeowook.

Firstly, dad and mom wrote this letter sincerely from the bottom of our hearts. We hope you’ll understand. Because we couldn’t give our Ryeowook a wealthy environment growing up, we are always thinking about how sorry and thankful we are. Since you were young you loved music and always played the piano. You were a musical genius in the music industry, having an ear for music.

The shadow of you using your small, short hands, playing the national anthem and nursery songs, made mom and dad so amazed. However as parents, the fact that we couldn’t help you pursue your talent, makes our heart ache. You would need more training when you grew older, according to your piano teacher and to mom and dad, it was too much of a financial burden. Therefore, the fact that we had to stop your dreams and talent, even to this day, made us sorry even to this day.

However, if you look back at it, it seems that the things you couldn’t do back then had eventually led you to become the Hallyu shining star Super Junior. This makes us feel so relieved. After that, the you that had been leading an ordinary middle school student life, at the third year of junior high, suddenly, “I want to pursue music” and you said that you wanted to go to an arts school. Dad and mom were very surprised. The reason is, before that moment you seemed to have forgotten about music and been living a model student life… Even we forgot about your musical talent.

But we believed in that talent of yours, and as parents we thought that it was time to let you accomplish what you wanted. Your effort made happiness come by. On 2005 November 6, through broadcast you had debuted with Super Junior. That day, dad and mom saw your first stage, and felt nervous. But seeing your look on your first stage, made our hearts break and made us sad. Our hearts were in pain… the tears covered our faces.

The chubby, lovable you had disappeared. Instead it was a much too skinny you. We thought, how much tears and blood did you shed to train that hard? Even now, our hearts still hurt. Since your debut, even to now, you have never allowed yourself to relax and continued working hard to move forward… You probably don’t know how grateful we are. We also believe that the fans’ never changing sincerity and love is your motivation to continue to work hard. So now, Super Junior has made it not just in Korea, but internationally. We can also feel that you are proud of it.

Ryeowook, we hope that you will become a person with a broad chest (symbol of generosity), share this love with the fans, and hope that you will become a mature and optimistic adult. You are able to be sincere with your members. You are an upright child, which mom and dad are hoping you have become. For you becoming a radio DJ we sincerely congratulate you, and also we congratulate you from our hearts.

Also congratulations to Sungmin. We hope that you both will always be healthy, host the program sincerely, and become true idols. The way that we feel from our hearts; we believe that Sungmin’s parents will also feel. Although we know that you and Sungmin are doing well in being filial children and having kind hearts, we hope that you won’t forget about about being humble and continue with the mind of a beginner. This is kind advice from us.
