ahreum's positive traits can benefit both herself and the people around her, which is a balance she has always liked. for starters, she's clear-headed and can always be relied on for coherent ideas. even amidst chaos, ahreum can think logically and analyse the situation which is helpful for a group full of women, most of which are still youthful and full of bad decisions. ahreum's happy to be one of the girls that keeps everyone safe even if it can be overwhelming at times. the pressure only serves to remind her of her importance within the group. alongside this, is her her insightful mind. ahreum is often the one that sixteen turns to for some raw, neutral advice. ahreum simply understands the world around her and as a result, is usually the best option for questions about the world. you can count on her to answer anything, no matter how stupid it may sound - usually, the answer will make a lot of sense. it also helps that ahreum is a naturally nurturing person, so she's always found helping others and caring for the less fortunate. it's likely that this stemmed from being the oldest of four siblings and always being the one to take care of them. the girls of sixteen see her as a mother figure due to this trait. lastly, ahreum is a stickler for punctuality. she values being on time more than most features of life, and you will rarely ever see her late for anything on her own accord. whenever something out of her control messes with her schedule, it ruins the rest of her day and tends to put her in a bad mood. she follows a strict routine, planned down to the very last detail and deviating from it is the last thing she wants.

although ahreum comes across as a gentle person, especially when taking care of others - she's actually pretty strict. to fully take care of the sixteen girls, it's important that she have a balance of affection and responsibility thus, she is not so easily fooled by puppy dog eyes and begging. ahreum is constantly scolding both her family and her friends, making sure that they don't do anything dangerous and get themselves in trouble. this can be annoying whenever she won't budge on her decisions, but it's all in good nature and comes from a pure place in her heart. her heart, which is kept private from outsiders. although ahreum is incredibly involved in the lives of others, her own life is kept hidden and mostly to herself. her difficult childhood certainly plays a part in her hesitance, but ahreum also just prefers for her own business to stay just that: her own.

the downside to ahreum's personality is that she tends to be heavily obnoxious, despite not meaning to. her nurturing nature doesn't always come across as sweety as she intends, and often with some of the older trainees - is just more annoying than comforting. the line seperating comfort and boundary is often dull to ahreum, resulting in her crossing it more often than not. ahreum simply forgets herself and her common sense at times, pushing people further than they're willing to go and thus she bares the consequences of such things. she always promises to be more considerate but the saying is true, you cannot teach an old dog new tricks. such is the same with ahreum's pedantic behaviour, nitpicking and zoning in on little things to the point of bothering others. it's one thing to be astutely aware of small mistakes, but it's a compeltely different thing to speak up about it every time. ahreum is unfortunately the type of woman who physically cannot stop herself from correcting small errors and placing too much importance on the little things. this doesn't mean she ignores her own faults, as she tends to turn her pedantic eye towards herself too. similarly, ahreum can be considered presumptous in the way she behaves and she's only a few steps away from being considered rude. it is almost second nature for the woman to jump the gun and make assumptions about topics she isn't fully aware of, or to act totally at home in places that aren't. most of the time, ahreum isn't even aware of her own disrespect and yet when confronted, fails to see the error in her ways. though ahreum doesn't mean any harm, harm does seem to follow her when she isn't actively trying to be on her best behaviour. it is partially due to her own actions along with her mothers that she developed a cynical trait. though wanting the best for others, ahreum often makes mistakes and comes across in a disrespectful way. this would result in a deep mistrust in other peoples intentions, since even her own aren't positive at times. ahreum simply cannot bring herself to trust the good in people, and can be far too wary of genuinely innocent persons. it takes a lot to shake this lack of trust and most people wont have the pleasure of ahreum's full trust, as it is so hard to come by. this doesn't stop her from helping others and overall being a nagging mother hen, it only withholds her from allowing herself to be taken care of.

BACKGROUND

song ahreum is the oldest of four siblings, all born to different fathers who didn't care enough to stick around. her mother, song jiyoon's, carelessness started with ahreum's father leaving as soon as she was born, claiming that he was not ready for a family. in her mothers desperate attempt to make the family whole, she fell into the habit of trusting and sleeping with men who weren't going to support the family and actually stay. still, her grandparents were fully supportive and with jiyoon being their only child - they threw everything into funding the song family, even after four children were born to absent fathers. despite her mothers shortcomings, she loved her children dearly and worked hard to prvide at least a little income so that the burden on her own parents was less. it was due to this joint effort that the song family was able to live somewhat comfortably, albeit not too lavishly - just enough to lack the worry of where the next meal would come from.

for the majority of ahreum's childhood, she was taking care of her siblings while her mother worked. when her grandparents had other affairs and couldn't babysit, it was down to the oldest song sibling to watch over the others. as a result, ahreum did not have much freedom as a child and certainly didn't live regularly like her peers. her grandparents could only babysit so many times, with their declining health and other matters to attend to. the guilt she felt towards her grandparents pushed her to step up as the big sister and make sure her siblings were happy and healthy. whenever her mother was at home, ahreum usually wasn't as she had picked up a small, low-paying job as a papergirl. after taking care of her siblings for so long, she wanted them to have all the best things life had to offer and by getting a small amount of money, she could afford to help make birthdays magical for her family. still, ahreum had another intention. it was no secret that ahreum could sing as the girl was far from shy. from joining the church choir to singing her siblings to sleep, it would seem that very little could make her as happy as singing did. every weeks pay would be split between her siblings and a small fund to eventually pay for proper vocal lessons. even at her age, ahreum felt a sense of responsibility and refused to ask for the money, opting to work for it instead. the choir offered some experience but ahreum was set on furthering it, and didn't want to bother anyone else with the small seed of her dream. 

a few months before she turned 18, she had seen an advertisement from pledis entertainment - asking for new female trainees that could take part in a new tv show. ahreum couldn't help but be curious, despite not ever having considered the idol life before. though as she thought about it, school wasn't her strong point and her grades were average - she didn't have much but her voice. so, on a whim, she applied without ever believing she'd be accepted or even thinking of the future had she gotten in. for starters, she didn't even know how to dance and only had the macarena under her belt as far as choreography went; surely they woulnd't want her? all she had was her raw talent for vocals, and even then her technique wasn't great. so when she received word that she was accepted at the start of november, she couldn't summarise the shock. briefly, she considered dropping out and taking her application back. after all, who would look after her siblings? they were still young and impressionable. yet when they foudn out about their big sisters opportunity, they refused to let her quiet and her mother cut back hours at work, determined to give her oldest the best chance to shine. with much hesitance, ahreum agreed but made it clear to pledis that her family would always take priority, no matter what.

- the oldest of four siblings, born to a multiple different fathers, all of which didn't stick around. still, her mother had the full support of her parents and most of the song children were funded by their grandparents. still, her mother worked hard to prvode at least a little for her children, working a normal office job.
- ahreum picked up her first job as a papergirl at 14, to make some more money so that her siblings could live a little more comfortably but also so she could finally afford vocal lessons - to further work on her natural talent for singing. the choir she was part of offered some experience, but ahreum wanted to pursue it further.
- a few months before she turned 18, she had seen pledis advertising for new female trainees with the idea of a new training tv show. ahreum applied with no expectations and without ever thinking about the future if she did make it. for starters, she couldn't dance. all she had was her natural talent for singing, and her technique wasnt great either. so when she was accepted into the program at the start of november, she was afraid and considered backing out.
- her siblings worked to convince her to give a shot, that it could be a great chance for her to make something out of her vocals. begrudgingly, ahreum agreed but made it clear with pledis that her family would always take priority.
- ahreum turned 18 during the start of the show and yet was quite a bit maturer than a lot of the other contestants, especially the younger ones. even if she lacked skill in most areas, ahreum was constantly helping wherever she could and it was due to her kind nature that viewers took a liking to her.

side note that although her family is important to understand her motivations and loyalty, that it isn't too important for them to actually be mentioned often or named. it's because of this that i chose not to add the siblings into the relationship section however if you'd like me to, i absolutely can!

APPEARANCE ahreum is considered rather standard when it comes to her appearancem, opting not to dye her hair or undergo any plastic surgery. she remains to be natural, mostly due to insufficient funds but partially due to her promise to remain the same girl that she has always been and that being an idol wouldn't change her. still, a few differences were bound to appear but they simply come in the form of ahreum growing into her features. her nose that was once a little too big, now fits perfectly on her face or the big ears that she was always mocked for, now looking entirely normal. ahreum has and continues to age gracefully, preferring to leave unchanged what she was already born with.

FASHION sahreum's style is most easily described as popular and trendy - though she often shops at thrift stores to save money. she isn't in the business of starting new trends or dressing any less like a basic student with mom jeans, crop tops and cardigans. her wardrobe is standard for any woman her age that both cannot afford more and prefers the simplicity.

OTHER while ahreum doesn't have her ears pierccedm she likes to wear clip-ons in place of the real thing. piercings and tattoos just don't fall in line with her budget until a little later in life, so perhaps she'll go for it then.

TRAINEE YEARS 
　♮ ahreum did not train for long at pledis, considering she auditioned simply because they were looking to fill a more spots in 16tv. officially, ahreum joined pledis entertainment on november 19th, 2015 before 16tv began shortly afterwards in january of 2016. she trained for 48 days in total, so that the producers could get a feel of her talents and the areas that she needed to work on - which turned out to be, as expected, quite a lot. though her choir experience and talent put her in a good spot for vocals, the glaring issue was the fact that she'd never learned to dance, or even tried to. alongside that, she didn't know how to perform - facial expressions and fanservice felt foreign to her and left a lot of doubt in her mind - of whether she could truly perform like an idol. some of her biggest inspirations had outrageously talented voices and yet danced like their lives depended on it and when ahreum truly thought about it, she just wasn't certain she could match that.

in those months leading up to 16tv, ahreum struggled tragically with choreography, and keeping enough energy to last her a single dance, let alone multiple. there were many times where she simply thought that it wasn't worth the trouble, that she could just give up her dream and leave before she became too committed. still, with encouragement from other trainees, ahreum perservered and made some progress before the show officially started. overall, her training was hard and impacted her confidence a great deal - especially while spending hours in the studio just to fail each time. it was exhausting for her and yet she so desperately wanted to sing and share her voice with others that she pushed on regardless of her wavering confidence. although with many hardships, ahreum would continue to progress alongside her fellow trainees and with a little magic, some good company and a dream - ahreum was becoming worthy of an idol title.

HEADLINES

PREDEBUT
　♮ 16TV︰ the show was no easy ride for ahreum, given she was surrounded by talented girls who had been with pledis for much, much longer than she had. it was easy to get caught up in the chaos of it all and during the first few episodes, ahreum struggled to find her place. it wasn't until she became closer to some of the other girls, that her personality started to shine and take its course - allowing the viewers to see the nurturing tiger in its transformation. ahreum started by finding her spot in the group as a person, and from there it was only defining herself as an idol. her vocals seperated her from the other girls but her dancing had the same effectm only negatively instead of postively. viewers would often witness the mess and embarrassment that came from ahreum's dancing abiltiies, or rather lack of - and it was certainly cringeworthy to watch at first. still, they also witnessed her perserverance and her sheer determination to make right out of what she had failed to do. by the halfway point, ahreum was dearly loved by the girls and was making her way into the hearts of the viewers too. it was clear to anyone that ahreum was genuine and had a passion for bettering herself. then as the show came to an end, ahreum had grown even more into her personality and was full of a difference confidence that she never would've had before. though her dancing was not impeccable by any means, she could follow and keep up with the girls, whilst also showcasing her daringly sweet vocals. the viewers had watched a cub turn into a tiger, and they knew her hardwork was ready to blossom into something more.  :  2016-2018.  

FUTURE ACTIVITIES
　♮ duets with jeonghan︰ as a nod to the previous mentor-student relationship between them, ahreum and jeonghan will duet a couple times a year, releasing songs such as dream, some and hello tutorial. : 2021 - present.
　♮  going solo︰ eventually, ahreum would decide to debut solo to really showcase her vocals, and to give herself a break from dancing. she debuts with only and would release a couple things a year - whether it be mini-albums, single tracks or whatever else she had her heart set on. ︰ 2021 - present.

HEADLINES

　♮ seventeen's jeonghan involved with sixteen wishes contestant ahreum? ︰ jeonghan and ahreum grew a genuine friendship rather fast, despite their original starting point as mentor and student. whenever ahreum was active on socials, she could always be seen interacting with jeonghan and this, paired with their behaviour on the show, lead fans to believe they were involved with each other. this was not even remotely true and they both laugh about the rumour to this day, even if the article brought some hate upon ahreum's head.︰ 2018.

FIRST MEETING jeonghan and ahreum met properly for the first time when being introduced as mentor-student.. though ahreum wa aware of his existence, she had never had the pleasure of meeting him before that moment and so for their first meeting, she was reserved and a little frightened. it didn't take long for her to warm to jeonghan, however, as the man barely has room for a bad bone in his body. before working with her on her vocals, jeonghan worked to make sure they had a trusting relationship and for that, ahreum is extremely grateful. his understanding and warm personality made teaching ahreum a lot easier.
INTERACTIONS after winning each others trust, you can compare their relationship to a couple of old high school friends, depsite their age difference. there is respect and understanding there, but not so much that you could consider them best friends. jeonghan is a good friend to ahreum, since he was determined to breach the teacher-student relation after the show ended.

TRIVIA
　♮ they have similar taste in music and often share playlists with one another, or even get together to cover songs they like.
　♮ despite not being very active on socials, ahreum tries to make a habit of commenting on jeonghan's posts.

OCCUPATION trainee.

PERSONALITY quyen's most defining trait is her charisma, something that drew ahreum to the female in the first place. she's one of few members in sixteen that can command any room she walks into, full of such confidence and joy that it's hard not to become enchanted with her. it helps that she's incredibly observant and makes for a great conversation partner. since quyen picks up on the little things, she can use this to her advantage to make sure those she cares about are always aware of her presence and love. still, quyen has a lot of bite to her personality too - especially with her competitiveness. second to her charisma, ahreum was drawn to her hardworking nature and to watch the younger woman go to incredible lengths just to better herself, is one of the greater joys of ahreum's life. despite being a little on the insensitive side and having a rather blunt reaction to others emotions - quyen still makes for an excellent friend and really, who is ahreum to judge? quyen could be the rudest person alive and ahreum would probably still have a crush on her.

HISTORY the day that ahreum met quyen is not one the female will forget quickly, especially with how unique the experience was. the two women were introduced in the weeks coming up to the debut of 16tv and almost immediately, ahreum was curious about the latter girl. at this time, quyen was extremely shy and reserved - only a fragment of the confident woman she eventually became. it was actually quyen that the company pushed ahreum towards for tips in choreography and ahreum will never forget the hours spent in the studio, embarrassing herself in front of quyen's talent. though quiet, quyen had a different aura when she danced - one that commanded attention, one that kept ahreum's eyes focused on her, unable to look away. during these practices, it wasn't just ahreum's lack of skills that resulted in her making mistakes, it was partially due to her focus never being able to stray from the younger female. 

now that she looks back on it, the seed of interest had been sowed in these very moments - not that ahreum had been aware back then. it was only as 16tv began and quyen blossomed beautiful, like a wild lily - that ahreum began to realise she felt a little differently about her than the other girls. to watch quyen become more confident in herself and to open up more, tugged at her heartstrings and tugged at an unfamiliar territory in her heart. for quyen, it took a longer amount of time before they realised their feelings for ahreum. it was only after 16tv concluded and sixteen wishes was taking spotlight, that she confronted her emotions. until that point, quyen saw ahreum as everyone else did and therefore, the latter never made any moves - only pined from afar, clinging to what little she could have of quyen. 

the moment quyen realised she felt more for ahreum was in one of their impromptu dance sessions. though ahreum had improved from the 16tv days, she still struggled and continued to seek quyen out for advice and help. they remember it being a normal day full of playful banter and familiarity - nothing out of the usual. ahreum was mimicking the choreography, eyebrows drawn together in such intense focus that the thought of it makes quyen laugh. quyen remembers watching ahreum through the mirror and swallowing a lump, eyes focused on the older female and for the first time, truly seeing her. as cliche and cringey as it may be, quyen was like a blind person seeing for the first time. the dynamic changed a little from that day onwards, with both women juggling with so-called unrequited feelings for one another. what might've previously been harmless brushes of hands, felt like sparks of electricity covering their bodies. something was different and yet everything was as it had always been, as familiar as the day their bond sprouted and yet there was room for something....more? all it would take is one move, one brave motion and perhaps they could learn what its like to love someone in an industry so hellbent on the dying light.
