PERSONALITY

width must be 300; height can be 100 or more

TRAITS

[+] amiable, idealistic, incisive [/] gentle, socially awkward, eccentric [-] insecure, airy, weak-willed

[aquarius] zodiacs are not always an accurate representation of people, but certain aquarius traits ring true in soyi, such as being eccentric and preferring deep connections rather than shallow pleasantries.

[infj-t] while soyi could fit other personality types slightly, three majortraits have solidified her being infj: creative, insightful, and sensitive to criticism.

[true neutral] people misunderstand this alignment as balance when really those with this alignment, including soyi, are unpredictable.

[ravenclaw] the people best suited for this house think logically while also thinking outside of the box. they're different, but they're brilliant. and this best fits soyi.

ELABORATION

naturally, ri soyi is a mild-mannered being. not having much interaction with people throughout her life, if someone looked at her too long, she might fade away. she is kind, but she tends to become something of a doormat if someone wanted to use her, make fun of her, make her do something, etc. being gentle is the good part of her personality, but it becomes negative when her weak will comes into play. people will be able to persuade her easily because she's spineless. she'd be too afraid to speak up for herself or talk back to someone who was being mean. so, she'd sit there, take the abuse, and do what the person tells her to.

she's pleasant to be around, for the most part. she's friendly, and she would accept friendship if it was offered to her. it's hard for her to reach out on her own, but others will be greeted with a warm smile and a companion if they approach soyi. this isn't always long-lived, as people can be put off by how awkward she behaves socially. she doesn't do well reading social clues or reading the room, so she will either talk too much, too little, or just generally act weirder than most are used to. this increases when she's excited or uncomfortable.

soyi isn't the most convential, from her family life to her behaviors to her interests. she isn't really aware of this, but it's something people usually notice quickly after meeting her. how they take it is up to them, but so far in her life, others haven't responded well to soyi. her airy presence doesn't really help either, as it makes her come across as stuck up. her light way of speaking and the delicate way she moves makes people think she's sticking her nose up at them, when this is really just something that she's developed since she was younger. it comes across like she's not taking things seriously, even if she is.

the truth is, soyi has crippling insecurities. even if someone gives her praise, she doesn't have the confidence to assure herself that she's doing well. while it makes her work hard (whether it be working hard at practice or at not eating or at looking good), it pushes her too her breaking points. her negative thoughts about herself eat at her constantly until she can't take it anymore.

when it comes to her mind, soyi is a logical person. she's smart, and she knows how to think clearly. this is part of the reason why she can stay calm in stressful situaitons or come across seeming unserious about things. because she's usually just thinking it over. that being said, soyi also has a wanderous mind that consistently combats her incisiveness. she's idealisitic, and she likes to think outside of things in a way that people haven't before. it makes her seem unrealistic, but to her, it's very possible.

BACKGROUND

width must be 300; height can be 100 or more

usually, when a married couple is happy and completely in love with each other, the news of a baby would make them even happier. ri soyi's parents, however, just didn't really care. they ignored the pregnancy, continuing to travel and be adventurous and even drink. they were much more interested in having a good time with each other than being responsible. and that didn't change even after soyi was born.

the girl was ignored since she was a child. of course, her parents acknowledged her, fed her, and clothed her. but that was about it. soyi had to figure everything else out on her own. from the time she was in kindergarten, soyi was making her own breakfast, lunch, and dinner. she was walking herself to and from school. her parents gave her praise every once in a while for being such a good girl, being so sweet and pretty and kind. they got quickly accustomed to not having to do very much for their daughter.

the only thing soyi's parents ever truly gave her was her love of music. they were loud and enthusiastic people who played their music loud and danced spontaneously in the middle of the night. soyi would get out of bed and watch them from the darkness of the hallway, humming to whatever song they'd chosen that time. eventually, when they left soyi to herself, she go to the record player or the radio and pick songs for herself. she'd sing along with them loudly, and she'd dance to herself just as she'd seen her parents doing.

when soyi turned eleven, her parents were itching to get back to their travels. they'd had enough of being trapped in seoul with their child. they left her money, told her that she was a good girl, and took off on their adventure. it was much different than just being left home alone for a day or a night. soyi was deeply saddened by her lonliness that she didn't eat. after a few days of her not eating, she ended up passing out at school. her teacher took her to the hospital, where her parents were called. when they returned to seoul, they doted on soyi and apologized for leaving her the way they did. and things changed.

for a while. only a month or two after soyi recovered, her parents decided to leave again. this time, they went and got her groceries themselves. they left her money, called her a good girl, and left. soyi didn't bother eating still, wanting her parents to feel guilty and return like they did last time. but her lonliness got the better of her, and she turned to the internet. using one of her parents' laptop, she found YouTube, chat rooms, and more. being young, soyi didn't know much about what she should or shouldn't do on the internet. so, she shared her picture and made live videos of herself dancing and singing to music, she talked to strangers and shared her information online. she was told she was so skinny and pretty, so talented at singing, such a good dancer, such a pretty girl.

and from then on, soyi would turn to the internet whenever her parents left, which was often once they knew she would be fine by herself. and one day, soyi got a peculiar message: come to this address tomorrow at noon. finally, a friend! someone who actually wanted to be around her. and being a mere twelve at the time, soyi went, not realizing the dangers of meeting up with strangers online. fortunately, this stranger had her best interest at heart. he was a scout for jyp, and he was inviting her to audition for the company. soyi hadn't thought about being famous, but the idea of being able to meet and be around so many people intrigued her. so she auditioned and got accepted.

TRIVIA

LIKES

- winx club (an american cartoon about fairies)

- the ocean (seeing it, swimming in it, sea life, etc.)

- hiking/walking (her favorite form of exercise)

- being online (posting pictures and videos, talking to 'friends', etc.)

- reading (books have always been an easy way to pass the time for her)

- getting attention from her parents (in any way)

- receiving praise (of any kind)

- arranging and organizing things (especially food)

- halloween (the concept of dressing up for fun)

- coffee (it curbs her appetite)

DISLIKES

- dirt/dirty things (she loves cleaning, but she hates when things are dirty)

- eating (she's scared that if she eats too much or even as much as people regularly do, she'll stop receiving attention and praise)

- bullies (she was bullied at jyp for years as a trainee)

- sharing drinks (because of germs)

- shaking hands (because of germs)

- skinship (she isn't used to it, and it makes her feel uncomfortable)

- small talk (she thinks it's pointless, and it makes her feel uncomfortable)

- jyp (trainers and staff saw how she was treated by the other trainees and did nothing to stop it)

HABITS

- she speaks in a light, airy voice that differs from her singing voice. even when she's raising her voice to yell, it comes out light and soft. the only time it changes is when she sings.

- if asked a question, she'll answer honestly, no matter how harsh the truth is. she won't relay her opinions unless someone asks her. however, it's free game if she's asked.

- she has a tendency to babble whenever she's uncomfortable, trying to express her thoughts, or passing along information. she goes on and on and on until someone stops her.

- she often gets light-headed, especially when practicing for long periods of time or even just getting up too quickly. if someone shows concern, she'll wave them away and says, "i'm fine, guys."

HOBBIES

- counting calories (for obvious reasons)

- memorizing quotes (something that she did since she was a child)

- instagram (she loves posting pictures, videos, and going live. she's actually gotten pretty popular online)

TRIVIA

- favorite food: honey chestnuts

- favorite movie: swing kids

- favorite tv show: winx club

- favorite song: breathe by lee hi

- favorite season: summer

- favorite drink: coffee

- despite her moderate presence online, nobody knew soyi was a trainee at jyp. she didn't get any opportunities because of her frequent hospitalization. she didn't get a chance to join the survival show sixteen. she wasn't allowed to join any of the previous produce shows. and she was passed over for the formation of itzy.

- she was diagnosed with anorexia nervosa at the age of 13.

- jyp dismissed her from her trainee contract after her last visit to the inpatient hospital.

- one day after she left the hospital and collected her belongings from the jyp trainee dorm, she signed up for produce angel.

- she's germaphobic. she'll never share food or drinks. she doesn't like being touched or touching others. she will obsessively clean something until it's to her liking.

- she is diagnosed with ocd, but it isn't severe. she has an intense urge to straighten, organize, and arrange things. and if something is out of place, it will irritate her until she fixes it. this heightens when she's around food, even arranging the food on her plate without eating it.

- she pushes food around and puts it up to without actually eating to make anyone around think she's eating.

- she's quite calm in chaotic situations, usually stating when someone asks, "I do some of my best work under intense stress".

- she's been asked before why she drives herself to the point of passing out and having to be held at the inpatient mental hospital, and she always answers, "I don't know why I am the way I am".

- she's very independent, able to clean and take care of herself. even at her young age.

- her evaluations at jyp usually went very well.

- because she wants to do well during produce angel, she is trying her best to eat. it's a struggle for her, and it's hard for her to eat all of anything. though she'll try at least once a day. she'll also drink water much more than she did before, which wasn't ever really.

RELATIONSHIPS

NO RELATIONS

unfortunately, soyi has had a rough time making friends. she talks to people online casually, but she never really had the opportunity to get closer to any of them. she knows nurses, doctors, and other patients from the hospital she was in and out of for six years, but she isn't particularly close to any of them. as for her seven years at jyp, she met plenty of trainees that would alter become idols. however, she was the most unpopular trainee there, due to her frequent hospitalization and her being bullied. she isn't close with her parents either because the two of them are usually not even in seoul to begin with. she stays at home with them, but she barely sees or talks to them. they've stopped coming back to seoul for her 'little trips to the looney bin' as well.

ELABORATION

ri soyi began training at jyp in the summer of 2015, when she was a mere 12 years old. she dropped out of school and began studying herself as a homeschooled student. because of her young age, jyp offered her a tutor, which she took advantage of. between not going to school and having a tutor, she was able to focus more of her day on either training or being online. even though she was initially very excited to train to make friends, it didn't come very easily to her.

it wasn't for a lack of trying, but her attempts were in vain. her fellow trainees didn't take well to her differences. they avoided her like the plague, so soyi didn't get much interaction outside of her trainers. they praised her for her talent, called her pretty, and always used her as an example when other trainees weighed more than the average. this only made the other trainees dislike her more, but soyi enjoyed the praise from the trainers and she made sure to keep doing what she was doing. she practiced hard and rarely ate.

when she was 13 years old, she made it a full week without eating, and she ended up passing out doing her trainee evaluation. soyi was sent to the hospital. as usual, her parents were out of the country. without any guardians to claim her or speak on her behalf, the doctors took it upon themselves to send her to the inpatient mental hospital. this first time, she stayed for two weeks after showing that she could make a change to her eating habits.

from then, it was a constant cycle in her trainee life: she'd practice, study, resist eating, get praised, pass out, get sent back to the inpatient facilities, return to jyp. it only worsened when she moved from her parents house to a trainee dorm. the other trainees bullied her from the moment she returned the first time until the day she left jyp. they tormented her with names, left nasty comments on her social media accounts, and trashed her room in the dorm before she came back from the hospital.

INTERVIEW

IF YOU WERE A MEMBER OF A K-POP GROUP, WHAT WOULD YOUR POSITION BE?

"I'm a singer, so...I'd be a vocalist. I'm not really sure if I'd be a main or lead. I don't think I'd be a sub-vocalist. I've been trained for seven years. but it really just depends on the other members' skills too, right? so then, I'll just say vocalist for now because I wouldn't know— oh," she chirped when she was stopped by someone off-screen. "a vocalist...and probably a dancer. I'm a dancer, too."

OUT OF 10 HOW TALENTED WOULD YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF?

this question made soyi sigh, biting her bottom lip as she tried to keep herself from rambling once again. "seven, maybe?"

WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE A KPOP IDOL?

"because I was told I'd be good at it. and I love music. some idols get to do music for a very long time."

DO YOU HAVE GOOD STAGE PRESENCE AND CHARISMA? WHAT ABOUT STAR QUALITY?

she brightened up at this question, and she grinned. "I've been told I'm good! I practice a lot, so I'll be as good as possible. I don't know about my charisma though..." her voice trailed off as she thought about it.

WOULD YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF A TEAM PLAYER?

"I would help my team, yes."
