for someone who didn't know na youngsook, they would first get hit with her charm upon meeting her. it isn't that she lays it on thick, yet the trait is second nature for her. this comes across from short first meetings to stage performances to long standing friendships. as someone who didn't have many nice people around her growing up, youngsook tried to distance herself from that behavior by becoming the polar opposite. the other thing that strangers would notice about youngsook is her intelligence. some may wonder how that could come across in a first meeting, but let it be known that this girl knows a lot of things. she had nothing but books and music to keep her comfort as a child, and she's learned a lot from all that she's read. in fact, youngsook quite enjoys learning, and she's one of those people that thinks nobody is too old to learn something new. if she were to pick up a new fact to add to her mental collection, it would probably be the best part of her day.

some of her traits would make people think she was raised by loving and kid people. however, she learned to be responsible and respectful on her own. nobody ever had to force youngsook to do chores, arrive to class on time, or clean up after herself. if she has an obligation, she'll take care of it happily. this fuels her in any instance, from practices to keeping promises. when it comes to respect, expect this girl to bow a full 90 degrees, especially to seniors and elders. though she has her pride (see paragraph below), youngsook isn't above humbling herself. and she expects the same in return of her juniors.

speaking of her pride, youngsook's ego doesn't usually exceed any further than a slight conceit. she isn't arrogant, but she does see herself as a worthy person. she's intolerant of disrespect in any shape or form. this trait also doesn't allow her to do certain things such as: leaving the house without feeling like she looks presentable or humiliating herself. though to be fair, youngsook honestly doesn't think situations like that will even happen to her. she has a high sense of optimism, sometimes bordering unrealistic. maybe it's because she holds herself to such a high standard, but youngsook genuinely doesn't think that bad things will happen to her. in her mind, there's always going to be a good outcome. there's always a silver lining, and any problem can be flipped into something that will work out in her favor.

because of this lack of fear of getting the short stick in life, youngsook never has a problem extending her presumed good fortune to others. she's quite selfless in that she will probably never mind helping others. she would give her last of something if she thought it might help someone else. maybe it's because she didn't have anyone like this in her childhood other than her adopted mother, but youngsook wants to be this for others.

though this concern for others can cause youngsook to meddle in others' business. this girl is nosy as hell, and she's always sticking her nose in someone else's life. what's that? a secret? well, tell youngsook. who are you dating? you did what last night? she thrives on this information, and she has no problem telling people what she thinks they should do about any and every situation. honetly, if youngsook can do it herself, she'll simply handle it herself. oh, she wasn't asked to do that? she doesn't care. she's doing it regardless. and good luck trying to stop her because she's stubborn as a mule. once her mind is made up, people might as well be trying to talk to a brick wall. she ain't budging.

unfortunately though, this is one of the reasons youngsook is a hypocrite. she loves meddling, but she loves keeping her own business to herself. she would be livid if someone poked their nose in her own situations. her pride makes another appearance through this trait because her hypocrisy is solely based on the fact that she holds herself higher than the standards she sets for others. youngsook may want to do something, but others can't do that same thing. the only sure thing she won't do this with is respect. other than that, any of her beliefs are fair game.

one of the main examples is her aggression. youngsook can be viewed as a violent person despite her childhood and her dislike of others being violent. she claims to be a pacifist, but if someone pushes her to the point of making her mad, she's blacking out. and it's bad. she'll throw things, she'll slap someone, and she won't stop until she's basically tired herself out or someone calls one of the few people that can actually calm her down.

unfortunately, na youngsook's parents knew they didn't want her from the moment they were aware of her conception. she was given up as soon as she was born, not being held by her mother or father even once before her fate was left in the hands of strangers. and she was passed from stranger to stranger, as her social worker was unable to find a family who would take her permanently until the age of sixteen.

during the passing game that foster families played with youngsook, she didn't have any consistency. she moved to different cities, enrolled in different schools, was forced to make new friends, and had to get used to new houses and rules over and over again. by the time she was ten, she didn't even bother unpacking her bags any longer.

despite some of the truly horrid people youngsook was placed with, her social worker was actually a decent person. whenever she found youngsook hiding bruises, she would immediately relocate the young girl to get her to safety. at the age of eight, youngsook revealed to her social worker that her current foster family would berate her daily, her social worker gifted her with an mp3 player. she couldn't yet prove verbal abuse to her supervisor to get youngsook relocated, but she wanted the girl to have an escape of some kind.

with that mp3 player, youngsook would download any popular songs she would hear other kids playing, heard on the radio, or saw on television. her love of music grew, and she would begin hiding out in any spot she deemed safe and perform for herself. at the age of ten, her social worker enrolled her in some after school dance programs to keep her from having to go back to her foster homes right away.

when she was sixteen, her social worker presented her with an adoption form. the name of the parent at the top was revealed to be the social worker's, telling youngsook that she was finally financially stable enough to adopt her and give her a better life. things were looking up for youngsook, and she started to believe that she could have more from life.

she joined her church choir, school choir, and her school's singing club in an attempt to learn more about singing and music. a year later, she was going out to audition for different entertainment companies in the hopes of becoming a performer. when arthouse media accepted her, it seemed like her dreams were going to come true.

having met when youngsook was only five years old and mihee was a new social worker, this is the person who has been in her life the longest. mihee was the first person to ever show love and care towards her. youngsook would and has trust this woman with her life. when mihee presented her with the adoption papers, the sixteen-year-old youngsook had no hesitation in accepting the woman as her mother. it comes very naturally to the both of them, and others would assume they are actually blood related because of their close bond. mihee worries about youngsook being famous and having to share everything about her life with people who don't know her, but she is youngsook's biggest supporter and fan. youngsook calls mihee mom in english, and mihee calls her sooks.

ziggy — park sejong

despite the several year age difference, youngsook found a comfort in befriending arthouse media's resident producer. cygnus and youngsook are similar in that they both take pride in what they do and who they are as people. despite having different skillsets and talents, she has an admiration for him that exceeds her other seniors, even though he isn't an idol any longer. they don't hang out outside of arthouse often, but she doesn't really care. she loves how much he puts into his music, how seriously he makes the elysium take their music, and she appreciates the blunt way in which he talks. genuinely, youngsook considers cygnus an older brother figure. she will sit in the studio all day with him if she could. he calls her zook, and she calls him ziggy.

noodle — kim hanoong

kim hanoong is the first real friend that youngsook has ever had. anyone else that's been close to her has been older and people she looks up to. hanoong is genuinely her friend, and she truly appreciates him for that. it was easy to get close with them being the same age and being in the same company. his quiet nature never bothered her, and she basically willed herself into his life by simply being there. and he accepted her fairly easily. they have a deep bond, having inside jokes, hanging out with each other without saying a word to each other, sending each other support always, and even telling each other about themselves when they need to. he calls her sushi, and  she calls him noodle.

supervisor shim — shim jojeong

if ever there was a father figure in youngsook's life, it would be shim jojeong. whether or not he sees himself as such is none of youngsook's business. they are not necessarily close nor do they act any way other than professional. however, she observes jojeong as a good person who does their job well. she looks up to him, and she pictures him as the type of person she would have wanted in a father if she had one. he is the main reason she will usually not resist against the company's wishes. because of how cooperative she is, jojeong tends to show slight favoritism towards her. he calls her youngsook-ssi, and she calls him supervisor shim.
