huiwon  as gyuha is not good at remembering names, he completely registered wonhui as huiwon in his mind and contacts. as long as he remembers me, wonhui thought. she gets back at him by calling me hagyu tho.

lee hyewon's daughter  as someone who has a well-known mother, wonhui is not a stranger to public attention as she was exposed young. this is what people call her everytime they recognize her. she doesn't like this nickname.

APPEARANCE if she'd be given money everytime someone tells her she looks like her mom, wonhui would be rich. the only difference they have is she always kept her hair short. wonhui is also on the petite side, standing at 5"3 feet. but now she's out of her mother's grasp, she's trying to explore hair colors that she wasn't permitted to try. her hair's still short but the inner part of her hair is bleached. (kind of winter's hair from next level but with bangs)

STYLE wonhui doesn't really take her time dressing up. her aesthetic mostly sports street fashion with baggy shirts and all. on good days, she wears slightly different clothing from her usual one which includes pastel/macaron palette. wonhui is also always seen with her airpods max and ipad pro everywhere.

BACKGROUND

spring of '01 born to lee hyewon, a best-selling author and yeong wonjae, a neurosurgeon. hyewon cannot handle the disappointment from her mother-in-law when she gave birth to a daughter. 

"i accepted you, a writer, to marry my son. but to give birth to a daughter? you really will ruin this family, hyewon."

she swore that her daughter will follow her dad's footstep as the director and head neurosurgeon of yeong medical centre, one of the biggest hospitals in seoul that is owned by yeong wonjae's family.

wonhui is also not a stranger to the public media; she was brought by her mother to her book signing events and even parties.

at a young age of 4, wonhui  always took interest with arts. she was always seen scribbling everywhere; on the floor, the walls. but everytime her mother would see her, wonhui would be stopped and will instead be given a medical toy box.

summer of '15 at age 14, wonhui's clinically diagnosed with anxiety due to the immense pressure that she always felt. the public that is always waiting for her downfall, her mother that doesn't take any failures, and her grandmother's disappointment every time she sees her. this made wonhui become obsessed with her grades.

her health started to deteriorate too and developed an eating disorder which caused for her parents to fight almost everyday. the public media did not help after spreading rumors that caused more argument within the household. but after coming to an agreement, they've decided to send wonhui to her mother's younger sister who lives in jeju for the summer break. although wonhui did not want to because she'd rather study over the break, she did not have a choice. it was for her mental and physical health after all. 

✦ wonhui did not expect the break to be healing for her overall health and recovered from her eating disorder; that was thankfully a minor issue. she got close to her aunt, lee hyejeong, who was an artist and has established an art school for kids at jeju city. wonhui was 'hired' as her assistant and enjoyed her work with kids. observing her aunt made her think how fun it is to have a carefree and have a career that you actually enjoy. 

spring of '16 wonhui was an incoming freshman in high school when she realized that she doesn't want to be a doctor like her dad. she started to secretly take art workshops as her grades start to drop. her mom knew and they fought heavily to the point her mom passed out. wonhui was traumatized and promised to her that she will be a doctor for her. her mental health started to get worse here and was even more obsessed with her grades.

fall of '19 as soon as she gained sense of how the world works, wonhui was preparing for seoul national university. she did not have a fun childhood; it was always books and her desk that's in front of her for as long as she can recall. she did her best; graduated top of her class, had extracurricular activities, sacrificed her sleep. but why did she fail the college entrance exams? korea university and yonsei weren't in her choice. it has to be snu. her father's father graduated here, her father graduated here. wonhui felt her life crumble. she fell into depression and locked herself to everyone. it only got worse when the press got into it and articles everywhere were posted.

she was irrelevant for years; and it was top secret so how'd they got into this? wonhui became terrified of the public press and for weeks, she won't come out of her room and completely isolated herself. not until her aunt came for her and she was brought to jeju once again.

winter of '20 wonhui's stay at jeju became longer than she expected. her anxiety after the incident only got worse but her family made sure that there are no public media following her all the way to jeju. she was afraid to go out; fortunately, hyejeong was there for her. she had a talk with her father and was advised to take a gap year and was recommended to a therapist. it was a blur for wonhui, the whole winter of her nineteen year old self. hyejeong did not force her to work at the workshop and made sure that she was eating well, and her surrounding was public media free. until one day, wonhui showed up at the workshop and asked her to be her assistant. wonhui started to be better and made a decision that she wanted to be an artist and to study fine arts.

spring of '22 wonhui stayed for a whole year in jeju since her failure from the exam. she did not have the heart to return to seoul as she was reminded of everything. instead, she focused on her work as her aunt's assistant and earned the courage to talk to her mother. of course it did not end well but hyejeong stood up fo wonhui. wonjae was happy for her daughter and gave permission for her to live with her aunt. wonhui and her mom are still not in good terms but hyewon was starting to accept that this is what her daughter wants.

✦ although wonhui did not get the chance to be herself for most of her life; she's pretty good at exploring on her own and very much observant with her surroundings before doing something.
✦ passionate with everything she does. wonhui doesn't settle for a mediocre work and will do her best to make things perfect. and when things doesn't go her way, she's prone to exhaust herself to the point she'll get sick.
✦ wonhui is not much of an open book and of a talker. she can spend the whole day listening but not talking about herself. but if she's with someone she's comfortable with, she can get pretty talkative. 
✦ she sees herself as someone whose problems doesn't concern you or thinks she is a burden. but if you stay by her side and be patient, she will, most likely, open her heart to you.
✦ wonhui doesn't enjoy seeing others in pain or hardships and will help everyone as long as she can (and i meant that she won't stop until stopped). a little push over, actually!! but it is fine for her since she takes pleasure in helping people (it's not pls help my bb)
✦ she is a great listener! a perceptive person that you can easily tell your stories or worries but can also be pretty judgmental lmao. her words will hurt you but also holds the truth. she doesn't really know how to sugarcoat her words.
✦ as someone who's pretty new to socializing, wonhui can come off as an awkward bean who stutters and turns red easily when talked to suddenly.
✦ wonhui doesn't take feedback in a good way and easily offended. she can be pretty dismissive if criticized but works on it since she's in a career path that will have a lot of criticisms. ps. she cries silently if her work is criticized in class.

hyejeong is like a mother that wonhui never had. she makes sure that she eats properly, her needs are always attended, always talk to wonhui whenever she feels that she's sliding out to the world. although hyejeong wanted to hate hyewon for "damaging" her niece, she just had to understand why she was like that. and she's sorry for the kid and tries to make up for all the love that wonhui missed. ^{fc: taeyeon} 

LEE HYEWON, MOTHER, 50.
hyewon and wonhui had a good relationship before. she pretty much grew up as mommy's girl as wonjae is not home all the time. but as wonhui grow up, they became distant without any reason. probably because of how wonhui became busy and pressured all the time. after the incident and wonhui deciding that she'd study in jeju until now, their relationship stayed the same; not good and not bad either. 

YEONG WONJAE, FATHER, 53.
wonjae feels guilty most of the time she thinks of his daughter. guilty that he did not give him the time as a father and letting it all happen. their relationship is kind of awkward and most of their conversations are small talks. but wonhui kind of feel comfortable with her father and she likes his random visits knowing that he's busy.

SATO HIMARI, ROOMMATE, 21.
himari is half-korean, half-japanese and roommate of wonhui. she's a freshman and is studying pre-veterinary medicine. grew up in japan but left the country to pursue her pre-med here in korea to be independent. wonhui, at the beginning, was anxious that she won't be friends with her roommate but thank the heavens that himari was good with strangers. himari respected wonhui's boundaries and eventually became friends. although their schedules are opposites, they somehow find the time to hang out. ^{fc: giselle} 

KIM SAETBYEOL, FRIEND, 21.
wonhui did not imagine her and saetbyeol to be best of friends. she was insecure of her, being good friends with gyuha and seeing him laugh when he was with her. but when they became friends, they're much closer and hang out more often than saetbyeol and gyuha. they spend the time talking about gyuha and saetbyeol gives information that helps wonhui with gyuha. number one supporter of the gyuwon/wonha ship !! ^{fc: stayc isa}

MORE ABOUT WONHUI

✦ as a child, wonhui's brought by her mother to book signing events and parties. but when wonhui got busy with schoolworks, she wasn't brought anymore.
✦ she's pretty good at online games and is eyeing to join the e-sports team. plays valorant and lol! she's duelist main & plays ahri in lol
✦ as much as she wants to be able to take care of plants like her roommate, she's pretty unlucky so she collects lego plants to make her side of the room kinda lively.
✦  at driving cars but good in driving motorycles. hyejeong gifted her a vespa primera scooter. she has a license btw.

✦ wonhui and her mom aren't still in good terms but they talk through letters for at least once a month or every other month. her dad sends her money though and sometimes visits her.

DIRECTION as much as wonhui wanted to sleep in, her brain doesn't want to. everyday, she gets up as early as 6:30 in the morning to cook breakfast for her and her roommate, himari. as soon as they finish their breakfast, wonhui prepares for her classes and stops by at one world to order her coffee or a fruit tea if she's on caffeine limit. during mondays, wednesdays and fridays, wonhui makes sure she's in her korean history class early because the professor's kind of strict.

after her classes ends, she'll most likely go straight to the dormitories and continue her work there or stop by at one world again. wonhui is still deciding if she'd join the e-sports team (and i'd love her to!). wonhui is pretty much new to having fun so she'd explore a lot! she also avoids drinking as much as possible as she's aware of how low her tolerance on alcohol. (i'd love to see her drunk tho)

"i'm yeong wonhui... 21 years old and i major in fine arts." she stared at the interviewer, hesitating if she should say more. "..i took a gap year because of some personal reasons..." she smiled awkwardly.

out of all the colleges in korea, why did you pick jeju university and why your major?

"well, my aunt lives here in jeju and because of personal reasons... i chose to study here; since seoul is too... crowded?"

where do you see yourself in 10 years?

wonhui takes a deep breath, "10 years..." she trailed off as she bit her lower lip subtly. "an artist who held her 10th exhibit?" she giggled.

what would you say are your biggest strengths and weaknesses?

"i'd say that my passionate characteristic is both my biggest strength and weakness?" wonhui pursed her lip before talking, "since i tend to work at my very best, i forget to take care of myself." she nodded as she finished her sentence. "ah, i'm also not good at opening myself with strangers..."

as a freshman you will reside in chungsam hall, what do you look for in a roommate? any lifestyle habits that you find intolerable?

"it's better if we can find middle ground? someone who can be good with rules?" wonhui stared at the wall,  thinking of other things that she'd hate if she were to live with someone. "someone who respects my space?"

"everything?" wonhui smiled genuinely. "i lived my school years studying only... and i am excited of how university life will treat me. i hope i can make a lot of good memories."

LOVE STORY

summer star wonhui first met gyuha during the first weeks of her as a freshman at jeju university. she's exploring the vicinity of the university with the hopes of finding another cafe as happy bean is too crowded for her. and at the right moment, one world cafe and lounge appeared in front of her. as wonhui entered the lounge, a tall guy whose face is kind of covered with his hair greeted her. she took a glance on his name tag and remembered the name, gyuha.

✦ her first impression on him was, he's totally an exhausted person. wonhui always caught him sighing or brush his hair like he's tired. but she won't deny the fact that she find him attractive; which led her to be a regular at one world (the food was totally a bonus point as she likes the menu). and since then, wonhui always catch herself observing gyuha.

✦ it surprised her when she found out that they were classmates for two of her classes during mondays, wednesdays and fridays. every now and then, wonhui will find herself looking at gyuha and vice versa. which will cause wonhui to panic internally because there's no way that he won't recognize her. she tried to play it off but gyuha just found her kind of weird.

feelings of forever  they became partners for a paper in sketch design and as they spend more time together, wonhui develops feelings for gyuha. she thought it's normal to feel your heart race when meeting someone and maybe it was the coffee. until it was getting weird for wonhui because it's almost everyday whenever she sees gyuha. wonhui thought that it's not normal anymore; and after seeking for help from the internet and the roommate, she has a crush! but what do you do when you have a crush? himari said, "of course you confess!" 

✦ how the hell do you confess? wonhui was pressured of what himari said and after days of thinking, she's determined to tell gyuha of what she feels. and of course it did not go smooth. wonhui blurted out and stuttered "i like you" and... gyuha was more weirded out. she avoided him for days but gyuha did not have any of it. he wanted to pass the subject. and since then, they acted like it never happened. the awkwardness dissipated, but it was still there. and wonhui liked it.

✦ it was a great day for wonhui, the fruit tea was served by gyuha, she nailed her english essay, gyuha greeted her a good morning. she was headed for the library where she and gyuha will meet for their paper, when she saw him with a girl. wonhui stopped on her tracks when she saw a whole different lee gyuha; at ease and smiling. wonhui felt another new feeling that day. does having a crush on someone hurt like this?

forever your summer star  wonhui and gyuha's story developed throughout them being partners in sketch design. she also get to meet saetbyeol, the girl she saw together with gyuha that day and became good friends with her. they all grow as good friends with saetbyeol as their middle man/cupid. gyuha is slowly learning to be vulnerable and open his heart to wonhui, as well as wonhui.

basically, their story is about how two damaged people take slowly the process of getting into a relationship. a painful slow burn that will develop insecurities, comfort, vulnerability.

INTERACTIONS
✦ wonhui teaching gyuha to ride her scooter !! 
✦ wonhui packing lunch/breakfast for gyuha and giving it to him when she goes at one world. or maybe during their paper, wonhui "asks" gyuha if she wants some of her food since she packed "too many" but she really just wants him to eat on time.

ENDING although far from what's happening now, they end up together! even though it'll be the slowest of slow burns, there'd be process within their friendship and realizing their feelings and understanding/exploring each other as individuals. 

MORE ABOUT WONHUI & GYUHA
✦ gyuha's personality at first, comes off harsh to wonhui as she's sensitive and takes everything to heart. but the more time they spent together, wonhui gets the hang of his character and finds him as someone who's only misunderstood and the world was harsh on him so she tries to understand him a lot and lets gyuha take his time to open.
✦ the moment wonhui learned gyuha's background, she almost cried of how cruel his life was. no words came out of and she just stared at him, wanted to hug gyuha and tell him that it's all gonna be okay. but instead, the day after she knew that, wonhui gave her a sunflower lego that she built together with a packed breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
✦ far from what they are now, gyuha lets himself be vulnerable around wonhui. a safe haven, if he's asked what she is to him. gyuha is not comfortable with touching but he knows when wonhui wants to hold his hands, when she needs a hug. 
✦ the fact that wonhui will always be awkward from gyuha's perspective and him loving every bit of it.
✦ they both cook so they exchange recipes from time to time and when they get together, they have cooking dates awww
✦ one world becomes their special place and wonhui waits for him after his shift before they go to their class.

COMMENTS this is the first time i finished an app in years! i was so motivated with my collab with thomato and wonhui + gyuha's story just made me tell myself that i need to finish this app T_T i hope you understand wonhui's personality and background since i think that i did not elaborate it that much?

overall, i enjoyed writing again and applying for apps were always my escape from my schoolworks lolol.
