my issue with kpop these days

this post isnt to drag kpop artists, just sharing my thoughts hehe.
i understand music is always going to, and supposed to evolve but i feel like kpop headed in a bad direction.

back when bigbang and 2ne1 were running the scene, i remember sort of rooting against them making it big in the west because i didnt want kpop to explode like how it is today. and this isnt because i didnt want them to be successful, but i felt like it would have a bad influence on kpop since most kpop companies copy and regime past successful formulas on new groups. and this has resulted in kpop being repetitive these days, and honestly the past few years.

im not saying modern groups are bad, untalented, or their songs and dances arent good. theres a lot of new artists i like. its just everything is so predictable nowadays because they cater to the west.

i miss the authenticity of kpop. the silly songs, and cute songs, the sad songs, the ballads, etc. every girl group has to be girl crush, rebellious, being strong and powerful. can i just see them be vulnerable every now and then? same for boy groups, and its just one big giant dance competition between everybody. you dont need to have the hardest routines for people to appreciate your talents.

and the visuals. the beauty standards as of late are insane! and can we go back to each member excelling at their own thing (singing, dancing, etc) instead of everyone being perfect at everything? it adds a lot of dimension to the group.

again im not ripping on new artists, i think its more so the companies than the artists themselves.

well this is the end of my tangent. feel free to share your thoughts too!

Oh I feel you... nothing excites me more than the good news of older generation making a comeback with the hope that they wouldn't miss the authenticity of kpop
