akira is a genius to put it simply. he's keen on following the rules and any instructions given to him. if he rebels in anyway it's because he found a loophole in the rules but it's rare.
akira a quiet person, he doesn't like being around a lot of people since he's awkward and dislikes small talk. in a party he would rather be reading a book on the side then socializing. he acts like he isn't listening but he's a really nosy person and his ears are open even if it seems like he's not listening. he will most likely know the latest gossip and connect the dots because of his analytical ways and good memory. he takes a lot of pride in his knowledge and would interrupt a conversation to correct someone's grammar or their facts. this makes him argumentative because he likes to be right all the time and know everything. sometimes when he interrupts others he thinks he's being helpful and doesn't realize that it's actually a bother. he looks down on people that aren't as smart as him and brags about his achievements. he doesn't do it around his mom since she always told him not to but when she's not there he does. he won't outwardly call you stupid but if you ask for his opinion he'll give you an intricate description of why your idea is completely idiotic and would never work while also subliminally dissing your mental capacity. when talking to someone older he'd ask if they want the truth or the simplified version with the simplified version being so kid friendly that it's almost insulting.

the traveler will most likely be annoyed with akira most of the time. constantly wondering how they got him on his their team and why they’re forced to drag him along. his father thinks he isn’t strong enough to explore the world and honestly the traveler gets it because his actions don’t really show otherwise. he’s constant paranoid and scared of everything. just breaking the rules and leaving campus would fill him with anxiety the whole time. they would also bicker because of akira’s stubborn personality too. but in the end they still help each other. akira has no idea that his mom put the traveler on and they have no intention telling him because of the deal they made with his mom.

safa is the nonjudgmental mom to a very judgmental son who took after his father. she spoils akira so much, even cuts his meat into cubes for him that he doesn’t know how to do it himself. she’s so in love with akira and can’t help but coo at her baby whenever she sees him. even though he lives on campus now he goes to see her often or she goes to see him. she knows her husband puts a lot of pressure on him and is proud that he’s dealing with it all so well. whenever he has a problem he goes to her and she can read him like a book. actually before akira met the traveler she did first, she heard about their adventures and secretly asked them to find her son at sumeru akademiya and take him along with the good intention of helping him find a thesis and seeing the world. the only reason the traveler agreed is because she helped them with a big task and they owed her. she doesn’t know the repercussions he could face from the academy for not following the rules but it can’t be that bad, his father is a sage for god sakes. – emi handa of barakamon

akeem is a serious man. very intimidating from first meeting and always on the go. his life as a sage is busy, he doesn’t talk much about his work with his family. they don’t know the inner dealings of what he does and is away from home very often. he’s cold and strict and the only person in his family that really gets that side of him is akira because he’s the only son. to his daughter and wife he’s more gentle, might lighten up on akira when they’re around but when it’s just them two he completely flips. akira is terrified of his father, he’s called him a disgrace many times for not passing his thesis and sometimes doesn’t even look at akira in the hallway unless he’s achieved something. akeem sees himself in akira a lot that’s why he’s so hard on him. he wants him to succeed to be like him and keep the legacy going. it’s hard work which is why he’s so hard on him. all akira wants to do is impress his dad and finally hear him say he’s proud of him.
