APPEARANCE AND STYLE from first glance, it's obvious what archetype of kpop idol mmc wants jimin to be. although her features might have been surgically enhanced to cutesy perfection, she's usually styled in classic or preppy styles. although she might not be a dancer, she's been chosen to be the "black swan" type member: the elegant one who doesn't talk too much. jimin doesn't really mind since it's pretty close to her personal style. although she might not be the most stylish/trendy member, she's always well-dressed. her airport photos eventually get a decent amount of attention because of how effortlessly good she looks.

a shy girl who grew into a lone wolf, jimin is not what most would consider friendly. she prefers to keep to herself, hiding her opinions and emotions behind a meticulously maintained poker face.
most people who have met jimin are a little surprised to find out that she wants to be a celebrity. they expect wannabe idols to be.. something more. someone who is charismatic and entertaining, who naturally gets and keeps the attention of everyone in the room. or someone with an undeniable penchant for music. people don't expect the girl diligently using her lunch breaks to study quietly all on her own, in her own world, to be someone who wants to live in the public eye. although to that, jimin would argue, try staying up all night to practice and then see how much time you have to do your homework and studying at home instead of school, and how much time you have to make friends.
but the exchange has always seemed worth it to jimin. yes, the nights and days are long and some days she doesn't think she can take the pressure one more day. but jimin can be ridiculously stubborn when she wants to be. her drive to be an idol is almost more habit than passion, but the fact still remains that she wants to be special and loved, and mmc was the first place where she actually felt like she was those things. she plays the role of cool girl rather well, someone who can let insults and harsh criticism roll off her back easily. although that might have been true once upon a time or in another universe, the truth is that she grew up in mmc, where somebody else always decided your worth. jimin craves validation just as much as her peers, wants to be acknowledged for her hard work. that's something she's always been ashamed of. she doesn't want to give people another reason to pity her or to see her as weak. for someone who seems to be such a lone wolf, jimin actually cares a lot about what other people think about her.
although jimin likes to pretend that she's a logical person (it adds to the whole cool girl thing), saying that she manipulates logic to explain and defend her stubbornness and emotions is more accurate. she is someone who makes quick judgments, which allows her to prioritize things easily. jimin is very flexible about things that she doesn't consider important, but extremely stubborn and loyal when she cares. it takes a lot for jimin to change her mind.
nevermind the fact that the longer she stays at the company, especially under sol ai, the more resentful and angry she becomes. part of jimin is scared by the person she's become and scared that she'll lose more and more of the only redeeming qualities about her.

average family & childhood. was scouted at the age of 14 and joined mmc after serious begging. her parents mostly agreed because they thought jimin would give up after a few months. they largely disagree with her potential/future career because they don't think it's a safe/stable choice. she finishes high school because of them. in senior year, they start pressuring her to apply for university. it starts a big fight because jimin doesn't want to train and go to uni, but she still hasn't debuted yet and her parents think she needs to move on.

they were not friends as trainees. jimin respects seojin a lot because of the latter's talent and dedication to the craft. sure, there are some rumors about seojin but jimin prefers actually getting to know someone and making her judgment on her own.
unfortunately, the longer that she's in sol ai, the less she likes seojin. it doesn't feel like seojin is protecting or advocating for her, as a leader. although every aspect of their lives is controlled by mmc management, a part of her still resents seojin for "taking away" her lines and her chances to succeed.

when she first entered mmc, jimin had no rhythm to speak of. her earlier monthly evaluations were hell, and she was constantly threatened with being kicked out of the program. eventually, over the years, jimin has become a better dancer. she doesn't have any issues keeping up with choreos, but she doesn't stand out. not unless she has a high note part, which she usually gets unless some other trainee wants to prove themselves. jimin isn't the type to fight for a part or engage in sabotage, which makes her seem like easy prey to the more aggressive trainees. if you press hard enough, she'll give in without much of a fight. she just wants to do her parts well, and feels like if she works hard enough then the staff has to see that. right?
she has been a consistently mid-tier trainee since her third year at mmc. that's probably why she didn't initially make it into sol ai. the former main vocalist was just more well-rounded (and more charming). jimin did start looking into other companies after the lineup announcement and had been auditioning elsewhere when she was offered a spot in sol ai. she accepted because she didn't really want to leave mmc. jimin had already spent 5 years of her life at the company, and she didn't want to tell her parents that she had failed after how hard they had tried to dissuade her from joining mmc in the first place and the pressure that they had put on her to quit over the years.

it is very hard to see hyeonsu as more than just a

although they've both been at mmc for many years, hyeonsu and jimin did not run in the same circles. largely because hyeonsu has always been an arrogant was a popular trainee who pretty much only talked to other popular trainees, whereas jimin was a bit of a loner who didn't have much friends at all. debuting seems to break down a wall though. jimin suspects it's because hyeonsu thinks they're part of some exclusive club at mmc now that they've debuted, something to make him feel better and more special since he isn't finding it in his career. it has to be, since he's approaching mion and some of the other members now too. if you asked hyeonsu, he'll spit out the same vitriol that he always uses: that he's here to gloat about how sol ai is flopping. although that is true, some part of him is also looking for a companion in jimin. he relates to her, to being talented but always overlooked, and he's intrigued by how well she seems to hold all of it in so well.

"i've actually never been so turned off by someone in my life." jimin and hyeonsu tend to bicker banter a lot. hyeonsu is very good at annoying people, and jimin is feeling very spiteful and lost, and is very happy about having someone to take it out on. although she believes that she hates him, it's also true that she hasn't been this open with someone in ages.
