he doesnt particularly like action or getting into fights but it was something he was used to from his younger years therefore he may come off as a troublemaker but def seeks a type of validation from others

in the end when he would go from town to town he met cain n admired him for how he treated the people of his town (unlike those from his own) esp children n valdis begged cain to take him in as an apprentice (he called himself a "servant" but cain doesnt take in servants)
he used the bow as his choice of weapon as its close to cains catalyst but he had an eye for aim. he then became a vision holder resembling that of his master for his ambition on becoming a stronger man
currently an apprentice under cain running variously mild errands such as gathering ingredients or shopping in town. other times he would be brought with cain on short adventures or go on his own but is always told not to stray too far

tl;dr valdis views traveler as an older sibling much like he views cain
