　 daeun, the name her mother had originally wanted for her. her mother still sometimes calls her it, even though she's come around to pulip.
　 piplup / paengdori, international fans call her piplup as it sounds similar to pulip. their korean fans caught on eventually and began calling her by the korean version of piplup, paengdori.

　kim pulip is overall a very cute girl. she's got big eyes, full lips, everything people aspire for. she's fuller-faced, and a bit curvier than your average kpop idol. she's still growing into her new, "woman" frame, so she's not quite used to all the new curves. she has one set of ear piercings and no tattoos. pulip is really into nail art so she always sports long, extravagant nails. she tends to keep makeup to a minimum for day to day practices, but she loves to experiment with fun colors and graphic liners when she has the chance to play around with it.

　up until her teenage years, kim pulip had a pretty normal childhood. she lived on jeju island with her parents and helped her grandmother at her flower shop after school and on the weekends. mostly because she liked spending time with her, but also her parents needed a babysitter while they went off-island for their work as producers. pulip was very close with her grandmother growing up, and part of the reason her family stayed so long on jeju island was due to their relationship. she was 13 when her grandmother passed, and even though it hurt to lose that connection, pulip knew in her soul that it was her time to go. a few months after they sold her grandmother's flower shop and house so they'd have enough to buy an apartment in seoul. instantly when they moved, she hated it. everything felt overwhelming, and she missed being able to lay in the grass and lose herself in the crystal clear night sky.
 
　her new comfort turned to food. at first, it started out small, just treating herself to a snack or fancy drink after school if she had a lonely or bad day. eventually, she was relying on food to improve her mood or fill her boredom. eventually, she found herself unable to improve her mood without relying on snacks or sugary drinks. it was only when her classmates started whispering insults and laughing at her that pulip noticed how out of control her habits had gotten. her clothes weren't fitting as well and she tried many times to diet or exercise crazily to get back in shape. she even signed up for dance lessons as a way to force herself into seeing exercise as having fun, but she couldn't overcome her addiction to food. it felt like an evil demon whispering in her ear, trying to stray her off her path and towards her own self detriment. when her parents finally noticed all the diet supplements, how she would avoid mirrors and only eat small portions of her meals they tried to convince her she was beautiful the way she was, but little could be done to convince her. pulip didn't believe it herself.   　as another result of the move, pulip gained a newfound interest in songwriting and producing, just like her parents. she would join them on late-night brainstorming sessions, at first just to see how their creative process worked, but eventually as a contributor to their songs. just before she turned 15, she fully produced her first song, young luv. it took around a week and her parents were so impressed that they immediately stormed into their good friend jaewoong's office with pulip in tow, demanding he listen to it and the rest of her drafts. her parents knew that pulip's style would appeal to jaewoong and sure enough he liked her works. however, there wasn't much more he could do for pulip after that, as brian had already banned jaewoong from having another "apprentice" after the last one turned out to be another college buddy's kid that just wanted to flirt with the trainees. her parents then convinced pulip to audition during bm's summer round of auditions. they both saw her passion and dedication to her song-making craft, but didn't want her to feel like she didn't earn her place in the industry by riding off their coattails. even though she was 100% sure she wouldn't get in without mentioning their names, pulip agreed with their reasonings and to her surprise, her likeable behavior and rap skills gave her an edge over her competition and she made it into bm's trainee program.

　 pulip didn't sleep in her own bed until after they moved to seoul. she'd either sleep in the same bed as her grandmother or mother. she still has trouble sleeping but she'll sometimes succeed in getting one of the other members to share beds with her which makes her fall asleep almost instantly. 
　 when the idol life has run its course for her, she plans to continue producing and songwriting and maybe open up a flower shop just like her grandmother had. at the very least she'll have a garden.

though she definitely has had crushes on people, pulip is far too shy to actually admit it to them or try to pursue a relationship. she also struggles too much with trying to choose between all the people that she does like and eventually anything that was there fizzles out before she can make a decision. the girl has too much love to give. as of now she knows she needs to focus on loving herself, as she wants to be able to show her best self if she ever does get into a realtionship.
