warlocks come from strict bloodlines and these bloodlines tend to be the most elite and wealthy in society. power begets power like wealth begets wealth. only the male line inherits, much like their female counterpart witches where in a family only the females inherit the magic. a union between a witch and a warlock is possible but extremely taboo as it often results in incredibly unstable offspring.
each bloodline has slightly different specialties and knowledge from magical study that is guarded. the genetic bloodlines are incredibly guarded and often there will be intermarriage between different warlock bloodlines to keep them pure.
