Ki Heejin is the younger child of two in the Ki household. As the younger daughter, Heejin grew up spoiled rotten. With both parents, surgeons at Seoul National University Hospital, Heejin and her older beta sister, Jia were spare limitless amounts of money and lots of unsupervised attention. Heejin's parents worked long and irregular hours as two top surgeons in different wards and tended to be too busy to spend time with their kids, leaving the girls in the hands of nannies, housekeepers, and butlers. The two girls found themselves being compared to each other a lot, especially Heejin to Jia.
Even though they have a several year age difference, Heejin was expected to follow in her older sister's footsteps. Repeatedly, her 'smarter, kinder, charismatic' sister took much of the attention away from Heejin, and she hated it. It was always "you failed another math test? why can't you study more like Jia?" This whole stigma served as a motivator to nurture Heejin's inferiority complex. It turned into a 'superiority complex,' to the point she tried to do anything and everything to outdo her sister. Despite not having a normal childhood, Heejin rarely minded her parents' absence in her life. Instead, she relished the endless attention from housekeepers and staff, mostly when she did something noteworthy that pulled eyes away from her sister.
To keep the spoiled and bratty Heejin out of their hair, she could take pretty much whatever lessons and after-school programs she wanted. Due to the spotlight being something she cherished from her family's staff, Heejin enjoyed doing things that garnered any kind of attention, which initially drew her to take vocal lessons for years, despite not being the best vocalist around and dance, which she was rather gifted at. After practically screaming and throwing a tantrum, her parents easily gave in to lessons. But Heejin wanted more. She had to be the very best and take it a step higher. And the only way for her to outdo the other girls in her classes and her sister was to also numerous other lessons. Taekwondo because her dad actually suggested it so Heejin could learn to protect herself, music composition lessons, soccer, etc. Heejin continued this trek through childhood and her teenage years to adult years. She dropped most lessons except for dance which she found to be really fun. Her dance studio was open to various styles, and proved to be a good outlet for her energy. And, as a plus, Jia couldn't dance, so Hah!
Of course, as any other teenager does, she explored different types of music. Something she found herself drawn to was rapping, though. After seeing Jessi and even Cheetah on tv, she started going to rap concerts with her school friends. She loved their strong image and just related to the aggression and energy in their rap. Jia, on the other hand, liked kpop. Heejin wasn't opposed to kpop, she enjoyed some of it, but the idol rappers were a ing joke to her.
When Jia starting showing interest in acting, well, Heejin stepped her game up and decided she would be an idol and become even more popular than her sister. Rather than being a vocalist, she wanted to pursue a rap and dance position, considering she thought most idol rappers lacked. She wanted to overcome this reputation and show she could be good as an idol rapper. Heejin could show them all up, could prove she was amazing.
Jia landed a small role in what became a successful action movie, jumpstarted her career, and launched Jia to stardom after numerous role offers. Well, Heejin couldn't have that, so she told her parents to sign off permission for her to audition for entertainment agencies. Of course, they relented, and she was on the fast track to becoming a star. Though, Heejin's bad attitude is what really did her in. She was still young and learning. now that the group has disbanded, heejin is living back at home with her parents in their Gangnam residence, and is debating whether to get her own place, but the whole change has been admittedly, rather difficult to handle. trainee experience
trainee life was very similar to what Heejin had to do at the dance club studio she was apart of from a young age, up through high school. She was already used to how lessons went there and working with a trainer in general, so it wasn't a huge leap to becoming an idol trainee. Especially since the company was so small, Heejin was able to still get away with some of her usual , like hooking up with other trainees or random people she met out and about. She slacked off when she could to do 'fun stuff' but considering she was one of the best female rappers they had developed and a skilled dancer, quick on picking up choreography, she didn't get in trouble much at first. When it came closer to time to finally debut a group though, sunrise clamped down on the rules and heejin started to get in more trouble for slacking off, so she had to get it together in order to be considered for debuting.

Heejin's less than lovely attitude towards other members at times were also a huge red flag for fans and slowly, towards the end of Eclipse's disbandment, Heejin's favoritism had definitely lowered within their fandom - most of everyone labeling her as too much of a troublemaker, as a possible bully. this was all because she and another member were having a small fight behind the scenes and heejin was her usual blunt self and was taking verbal shots at the other. although, it was just a dumb fight that would happen all the time with various members, since they're around each other 24/7 and occasionally have squabbles (like siblings really). heejin and the member didn't think anything about it but the fans and media has a completely different opinion.
Heejin thinks of her group as family and even when they do fight and argue, have stupid drama and mood swings with one another, at the end of the day she loves them all and they know she doesn't mean half of the brutal she says. although, the public doesn't know this because they only see the filtered version of the idols and not the real people. they don't see all the behind the scenes , the living with each other and arguing over who drank the rest of the milk, telling each other off, and all the petty dumb stuff of being siblings. this is the part that no one sees so they don't understand. When Heejin sounds brutal and mean in front of the public, like her usual self, in a normal banter, that shatters the image they've created.

🎤 sister / Ki Jia / 1992 / actress /(FC: actress Shin Sekyung.) Jia is very kind, charismatic, warm and outgoing. She has much more nicer qualities that her younger sister. But under all of that charm is her competitive streak. She's more like the 'worlds big sis' but Heejin swears she's secretly evil / Since Jia career has taken off as a budding actress, Heejin refuses to acknowledge her despite the fact that Jia does try to reach out. Jia does love her sister though, despite their unhealthy relationship.
🎤 Parents / Ki Wonshik & Ki Minhee / 59 & 58 yrs / Surgeons (dad is a lung surgeon, mom is a brain surgeon)/ Very responsible and serious, they both are rarely around considering their demanding jobs but care for their daughters. Dad is more empathetic and outwardly affectionate than their mom who is typically professional and a bit callous. She is more affectionate with actions rather than words. / They love Heejin and just want her to make something of herself, but really wish she would give in and agree to go to college and do something productive besides music. They hate seeing their daughters at odds so much but it's difficult to get across to Heejin. They secretly support her though and want to see her overcome these obstacles on her own.
🎤 groupmate / cho haerin / dongsaeng. to say that haerin and heejin got along well to start with would be a lie. Heejin noticed that haerin was rather quiet and a rule-follower, someone who thrived with routine and didn't stray too far from what she's comfortable with. heejin thought that was boring and haerin was most-likely 'not heejin's type to have fun with' so she kind of wrote the poor girl off before she even really knew haerin. it was obvious that haerin took everything too seriously. she seemed fixated on doing everything appropriate as a trainee, completely by the book and that bothered heejin a lot.
One thing that particularly stood out to Heejin though, bringing her interest to the younger girl, was haerin's competitive streak. This side of her made an appearance rarely in training, heejin found out through being paired against the other girl in dance class. She was just thinking that haerin would probably be too timid to compete with her, especially when the two were put on the spot like that. Heejin didn't mind being randomly chosen and having sudden attention on her, but it was apparent that haerin didn't feel the same way. but heejin was mistaken when haerin suddenly steeled herself and completely killed the choreography. from that day on, heejin decided that maybe haerin wasn't so boring after all. slowly she approached the other, using her normal teasing antics and was surprised that haerin was so pessimistic. none of her usual worked on the girl and actually, for once, made heejin feel a little bad for possibly souring the younger girls mood.
It took a while before heejin and haerin got closer, really only thanks to shared training lessons. Heejin decided that she wanted to help her newfound 'friend' stop being so uptight and get her to relax and learn to have a good time. Haerin and heejin now have a better relationship and could even call each other friends. Heejin thinks its a win when she can get haerin to loosen up or laugh at a joke. and she adores messing with the younger, especially about her relationship with wonwoo. she is hellbent on teasing the heck out of haerin, and of course, getting a rise enough to start some kind of fun competition.
she also really appreciates haerin's honesty, considering she rather truthful herself. of course, she knows now when to back off and give haerin some space when her teasing becomes too much or haerin is on the brink of having a mental breakdown.
heejin isn't the best at comforting people but she does try when she realizes that haerin needs it. usually, she helps the other relax in subtle ways like cracking a joke, insulting and telling off a member who isn't practicing enough, or making haerin a smoothie. if haerin needs to talk, she'll listen, although usually heejin's advice isn't the best, so she feels a little bad about it. mainly she just tells the younger to chill out and live a little, or instructs her to be more confident in herself and her choices - to stand up and voice her opinions rather than trying to make everyone happy.
even if heejin does try to terrorize haerin with her antics, heejin would definitely kill a man (or woman) for haerin.
