GOODBYE, JO HANEUL.

JO HANEUL

name jo haneul / 조하늘.
other names
sky her self-proclaimed english and stage name. it derived from her korean name because it translates to sky in english.
johan her parents would call her by this when she was a toddler and it stuck by her. she would slowly introduce herself as this to people she feels close to so only those who know her well refer her to this name.

birthdate october 4, 1994
birthplace bupyeong-gu, incheon, south korea
hometown bupyeong-gu, incheon, south korea
ethnicity korean
nationality korean
uality
heteroual throughout most of her life, she thought she was straight until she learned more about the different ualities. after reading through them online, she came to a conclusion she found both men and women attractive. this was during her trainee days yet she did not tell anyone because she was afraid of not being able to debut since being biual is not really common in south korea neither is it supported. after debuting, she still kept quiet about it and despite how comfortable she is with her group, she was not ready to see how her members would react to hearing about her uality. she was afraid they would not see her as the same person and group member.
biual although the group disbanding and everyone going their own way is really heartbreaking for her, she found it easier for her to come out. the year 2021 includes everyone starting to accept all regardless of who they are fond of hence she became comfortable enough to come out on her instagram. her post was really vague and not as direct but most of her followers and outsiders were able to get a grasp of her message. obviosly, many supported her but there were still a handful of people disappointed in her and sent hate comments. though those cruel remarks did affect her for a while, she learned to move on and embraced herself more especially now that she isn't holding that big secret to herself anymore -- she feels like a lot is lifted off of her.

note: i'm not really too sure how the former eclipse members would react. i was thinking you can decide after choosing the characters you want in your story.

languages
korean her native and first language hence fluent.
japanese the school she attend did not teach her japanese but she learned on her own because it is fairly similar to korean. the primary reason why she wanted to learn japanese was because of anime. the idea of watching anime without having to read korean subtitles was really appealing to her. other than that, she found the japanese culture really fun and wanted to learn more about it on her own time therefore she is advanced and can speak well.
english she can hold conversations with english speakers well because of she studied it hard in school and was greatly influence by american artists. despite her speaking comfortably, you can still find her struggling with creating sentences that are not used on a day by day basis.

personality
enfp · libra · koutarou bokuto kin

the social animal who gets her energy from interacting with other people. her abundance of enthusiasm makes her excellent in pleasing others as she is genuinely mindful of all and thus, making it effortless for her to understand how many are feeling. though she is seen running all of the time, when she is listening to another, her attention is solely focused on what they are saying. yes, the one that does not seem to sit still does make an effort to hear others out. in fact, she enjoys listening to everyone because it excitingly compels her to talk more and as a result it gives her fuel throughout.

she may seem be viewed as a warm, bubbly person but she still has her weaknesses and flaws that her very close relations could pick at. as someone who constantly cannot sit still and is full of energy, she has a hard time sticking with one idea or activity at a time. the thought of starting something new can be tiresome but the idea of what is becomes in the end is what makes her motivated. however she rarely finishes anything because she loses interest so that is why she really enjoys activities that are entertaining from start to finish such as talking to people, watching anime, reading manga, and writing songs. because she is looking forward to something all of the time doing those things so anything similar can make her happy. in addition to her being indecisive, she cares about everyone's opinion too much to the point she would not know which to fully assert to. to top that off, she is terrified of negative judgement and puts too much weight on other people's thoughts so when getting everyone's opinions she is afraid to say her opinion too.

even though she worries about the judgement of others, she does not avoid the spotlight. in order to feel validated, she needs to be seen and noticed. because she is the least popular member of eclipse in south korea, she feels unimportant and dejected. when she feels like this, she has to let everyone know and talks about her feelings to her members a lot. sometimes she is seen to be dramatic and sensitive but just really wants comfort and attention like everyone else.

as a result of her indecisiveness and sensitivity, many fans do not think she should be eclipse's mom. they do not believe she is fit to handle the group when many see the members caring for her instead. regardless of what others say, she is the deserves the title as she held the group together when no one is watching and is indulged with the characteristics of what a leader is. she is the happy energy that is always caring for every member no matter the many arguments or disagreements. with her talkative self, when she gets in a dispute with a member, she would always be the first to call defeat and apologize. she is self-aware of herself and will constantly try to better herself. she is communicative and can always be backing any of her members up when situations are put out with the wrong context. she is courageous yet respectful and in all the way fun.

background
haneul lived a normal life and was probably more privileged than most people. she had extremely understanding and openminded parents. although she was their only child, they did not want her to feel ashamed of them and allowed her to have her freedom while still maturely lecturing her. she was a pretty stubborn child but she loved her parents so much and could barely stay mad at them. with a family of talkative individuals, they were never bored and were always have the best time. when she told them about applying to become a songwriter, they were giving their all to her and tried their best to support her in any way they could. they bought her all the necessary electronics and supplies.

in the end, when she informed them that she was going to be a trainee under sunrise, they were really disappointed and afraid their only child will suffer a lot but still gave her support. they would constantly try and visit her when she was training for the first year but finally let her go independently and just occasionally call her when they were all free. knowing they were the most loving and sweet parents, she knew with whatever happens in her life and whoever she becomes that they would still love her unconditionally.

lifestyle
one of the more important points of the app! let me know their lifestyle from the moment the group disbanded. how are their living accomodation(s) like? did the disbandment cause them to lose their dorm provided by the company so they're now staying with their parents or are they staying at their own place? did they enroll in a university? are they just vibing and enjoying their life? are they back in the kpop ring? basically how are they living their lives at the point the story begins.

right after the disbandment of eclipse, haneul went back to her parents. while being back home, she tried to find ways to maintain money in order to move out. it was hard to hide from people so she found a job at local grocery store for almost two years enough to save up for an apartment to live on her own. while also staying with her family, she was in contact with yongguk and were able to see each other stricly at parties so no fans or paparazzi could find them. as soon as she got her apartment, she needed to find a way to stay wealthy and to move on from eclipse therefore she looked into owning a petite cafe.

trivia
angel(s) she calls her fans by this because her birthday is on october 4th and can be written like 1004 which pronounces angel in korean. on top of that, she likes to say her fans are her guardian angels watching over her.
94johan her only instagram. it is public and was made a few years after she debuted but she did not post much. however, she does become severely active on here once eclipse disbanded because she has feels free without having to hold up a certain image for others.
an only child it was always just her and her parents. luckily she has cousins from both sides who she was able to hang out with so she was not too lonely without any siblings but they only came to visit here and there.
anime/manga ever since she was a kid, she watched anime and read manga as a way to stay entertained while being alone. because she had always done these things by herself, she does not feel comfortable doing any of these two with other people.
writing as someone who talks as much as she does, you would wonder what she would do when she has a lot to say but has no one to talk to. writing allows her to speak her mind and to express herself. she has her a journal where she writes out thoughts she randomly has and another for songs that she comes up with on her own.
pets she has never had a pet because she knew it was too much commitment and she does not have the will to take care of something that will last for years. eventually she did want a pet but not the typical dog, cat, or fish -- she wanted a small hamster even so it was too late because she had to focus on training to debut. after the group broke up, she finally got herself a hamster named tofu who lived for a couple years but that was perfect as she would not have been able to commit any more years to him.

plotline iapetus.
speciality rap, vocal.
talent twin mamamoo's moonbyul.

trainee years 2012 - 2014 two years.
trainee experience
haneul initially wanted to apply as a songwriter at sunrise entertainment. she had always been proud of her songs and thought that since this company was new, she would easily get in and jumpstart her writing career. instead of auditioning she talked to a couple staffs in the building and told them she wanted to give her songs to the ceo but instead was put in a waiting room.

they told her to come back at a specific date with no other details and when that day came, she was told to either sing, rap, or dance to audition as an idol at the company. as confused as she was, she thought that this can give recognition to her songs therefore she rapped an original she has been working on recently. it was still fresh in her head so she thought it was the easiest to do as she came unprepared but she also knew it would be risky because it was an original.

in the end, she was accepted but not because her rapping skills were outstanding -- they were mediocre. they were however amused by her lyricism and flow so all they really had to do was teach her a few more things to make her become more comfortable in rapping overall.

other than having a great time with her ex during her trainee years, she was able to get close with other trainees. all of those classes surely brought everyone together but sometimes you can find her practicing on her own and trying to better herself. she struggled with imposter syndrome and could not find herself to be as good as the rest. although she has a hard time committing to a lot of things, she was committed in becoming a better artist because she found it extremely fun and energizing. with the amount of energy she gets from practicing, she was able to improve her singing but struggled with dancing. no matter how much she practices it, she is stiff and feels awkward but at least she is always trying her best to polish off her dancing so she is bound to develop her dance skills.

idol experience
haneul was no doubt the least popular member. was it because she looked different from other femme females? was it because her rapping and singing skills were barely above average? was it because she spoke too much? for the most part, eclipse's fans in south korea viewed her badly because she was not 'pretty enough' or was 'too manly.' despite her ranking lowly in popularity, she was pretty famous internationally because many american fans thought she 'looked cool' and was 'visually different' which appealed to people in the united states. however that was only towards the end of eclipse's years of being together after a video edit of haneul became viral for a couple months from 2019 - 2020.

regardless of her not being as popular as the rest of her members, she still had a great time and was able to bond with the few fans she had. she really enjoys doing fan service as she is a friendly, talkative ray of sunshine but she did not have many fans to interactive with.

throughout her seven years being active in eclipse, she never had any solo opportunities because they were given to others instead however they allowed her to post singing and rapping covers on their youtube channel. she felt fine that she did not have an solo activities because she was given the chance to write and produce songs for eclipse. sunrise also helped her get close to jyp entertainment and wrote a couple songs for some artists in the company but they were not popular songs. she hopes one day that at least one song she creates will be acknowledged and noticed.

goals
despite haneul being free from the entertainment industry and getting the privilege to live the way she wants after the group disbanded, she felt empty and lost without her members, friends, staffs, and fans. this is the same feeling as the time she had to leave her ex but this may have been worst because she no longer has any connection to socialize with many people which is what she needs to get her energy to live. the only one thing that kept her company when she was alone was watching anime and reading manga just like how it was back at home. seeing that this was something that helped her regain the will to move forward, she looked into owning a cafe where those who may feel the same as her can enjoy reading manga away from reality.

in her mind, the cafe is meant to be a safehaven for everyone. it includes an abundance of light novels, manga and even drinks ranging from lattes to tea to soft drinks. personal lounges, bean bags, desks, and every day furniture for people to relax in is all stored in the shop as well. this business helped her move on from eclipse parting ways and sooner or later, she became happy again. she found something that she genuinely enjoyed doing and was able to make others feel joy too.

though this cafe helped her after the group's split, she is still hopeful for some small group reunions and performances even without any music labels. personally, she does not want to go back to the korean pop industry because she found a different path that best suits her but would does wish to see the group at least once more.

relationship section
bang yongguk who knew they would bond fairly well? certainly not haneul especially not after her ex. it was already hard for her to get over her ex and had always struggled with commitment so when she met yongguk, it was a messy relationship. they met when they were at a music show at the same time. yongguk caught haneul's eyes first and was also the one who initiated their relationship. although yongguk is the complete opposite -- shy, quiet, reserved -- haneul's chatty self, kind heart and talents won him over. she was never nuisance to him and he was always giving his full attention to her. their relationship started as friends but on the way had a lot of bumps because they were both busy. when their schedules became hectic, they could not really see each other in private so haneul was slowly losing interest while yongguk was not. they ended it before their arguments got any worst. soon after, yongguk left his group b.a.p and shut himself from the world. they were no longer in contact but haneul tried her best to be there for him. they occasionally met again but strictly as friends though that was only until yongguk felt better again. they stopped meeting and again, lost contact. now that eclipse disbanded, the two should have more time to spend with one another. haneul definitely has not moved on from yongguk and yongguk has always been interested in haneul, but none of them really knew. note: i do want them together again but you can decide on how things go before they officially become a thing.
cho haerin one of the most intimidating members haneul first encountered. usually she would be comfortable talking to everyone but haerin seemed standoffish because she looked reserved and when spoken to, she speaks very little. haneul worried haerin would not like her and was always afraid of her honesty as haerin cannot and does not like to lie. eventually, haneul learned haerin is the person she always go to when things go wrong. despite being the oldest and having to comfort everyone, haneul still needs reassurance and a place of comfort -- haerin was the perfect person for that.
kim yuri [faceclaim: lee sungkyung] her secret girlfriend during her trainee years from 2012 to 2014. yuri was also training to become an idol under sunrise but dropped out a couple months after they met because she disliked the environment. despite her leaving, yuri and haneul were still in contact. they always hung out whenever haneul was free and since they were both girls, they were able to be seen out together without being judged as more than friends. no one had a clue that they were in a romantic relationship though because they kept it a secret so nobody could bring the two apart. she was haneul's first love and she truly made her the happiest during those rough times. even though haneul with commitment, she felt that it was easy to give her all to yuri. yet good things always come to an end, after hearing that haneul will debut soon, they knew they would not be able to stay together anymore and had to break up. at least their break up was mutual because they were able to leave on good terms. after debuting, haneul struggled with their separation and put her feelings into her own songs. as with almost everyone's first loves, yuri stayed as haneul's ex and they lost contact with one another.
