This has been on my mind a lot

Hello my moons, this is Moona again!

Now I've been wondering about this for some time so I'm going to ask you guys what you think and if you can answer my questions.

So, I love to write. I like writing both fanfics for the fandoms I love, but I also one day hope to have books of mine published - I also like writing fictional stories (not fanfics you know?)

I hear there are authors on here who wrote books that they have on Amazon or get books published. You can't sell fanfic right? So, do authors take their story they had on here and change things like the idols they used are made into made up characters?

I hope this isn't confusing to anyone because I have been wondering about this. And if an author does take a story they have here, change things and then have it published to be sold, do they have to take down the original on here? I'm not certain.

I've been thinking about it a lot though. If anyone has insight on this, please do comment below. Either way, thank you all and I'm signing off for now, until the next blog, my moons~~~ <3<3<3

it's up to the company youre being offered a contract with. For regulation and privacy, majority will ask you to take down the story you wish to publish from any online website for the company's and yours profit. But if you're talking about self published there's lots of ways to keep your story in aff even while published outside. Amazon got its few knack about it iirc. :)

I’ve self published a few of my five from here on amazon. I basically change all the Korean names to more American names, since my docs are in English and I’m publishing from America, I’m targeting the American romance audience. I still leave my fics on here. But if I wanted to include my stories in kindle unlimited, which is a subscription service for readers to pay like $10 a month and read any book they want that is on kindle unlimited, then my story could only be on amazon bc that’s a rule amazon made for that program. So in that case I would have to take my fic down bc it couldn’t be online anywhere else. But I just offer my fics to outright buy as an ebook or paperback with the names changed, so I’m fine to leave them on aff. I could even post them on watt pad and tumblr or Smashwords or kobo or whatever else site that doesn’t have an “exclusivity rule” that means ur story can only exist on that one site that has that rule. If you would like to know more about how to self publish ur stories, you can pm me and I’ll answer abs question you have :)

Hey Moona! About the taking down story it depends on what contract the author signed with the publishing company. for ex with Webnovel, they offer 2 contracts;
1) Exclusive: means the story written there will belonged to the author and WN. Can't have the story posted/published anywhere else. So yes if author wrote a ff here & decided to publish it, they have to take it down.
2) Non-Exclusive: the story can stay in any platform even while published in WN. the difference between the two is the money the author get.

I hope it's not so confusing hehehe. And yes we actually can't sell ff imo. Have a nice day!

From what I saw on Wattpad, where there are many authors who published their books, they all changed the names and took down the stories from Wattpad, but from what I understood, it was the publisher's request. But I'm not sure if it's about Amazon or a contract with a Publishing Agency
