→ okay so chae sungha is basically the personality of fruit's basket yuki sohma with the background of given's sato mafuyu
→ went to a small school in iksan and applied to ulsan in hopes of running away from his past and all the people who knew him.
→ currently undeclared but still has a heart for music. it was something precious to both him and his ex
→ he doesn't have the courage to pursue it though, feeling as if he'd be betraying his past lover if he chose that path
→ gay but pretty closeted. in fact, girls fawn over him constantly because of his handsome looks and gentle, prince like personality
→ no one really, truly knows him despite their attraction because he's been afraid to open up to anyone. he fears that they would look at him differently and he's also become extremely distant since the passing of his ex
→ fell for l/i after seeing a rehearsal for theater majors.
→ being vulnerable and expressing his emotions is difficult so when he saw dohyun do it flawlessly on stage, he couldn't help but be drawn to him
→ basically, he's a soft, gentle bean who tries his best to please everyone, keeping a smile plastered on his face as he tries to heal from the pain and traumas of his past.

(n.) lit. "a reason for being"

a few basics.
NICKNAMES
jwesong (죄송) : it means "i'm sorry" in korean and sounds similar to "chae sung." he's also normally a very apologetic person so the nickname just kind of stuck.
ulsan's heartbreaker : his friends use this just to . he's known for receiving quite a few confessions due to his good looks and gentle personality but he never accepts or dates any of the girls who fall for him. the reason continues to be a mystery to everyone.

APPEARANCE
→ black hair that seems to occasionally cover his soft brown eyes that shine with gentleness and compassion -- but they won't let you see into his soul. a shy, modest smile that never really seems to exude genuine happiness, seeming more like something painted on a mask. he stands straight, a princely aura around him, but he never stands too close, keeping his distance as if he was something that wasn't allowed to be touched. a sweet and handsome shell of a gentleman, protecting an anxious and hurt heart.

STYLE
→ think, soft boy vibes. he's a er for comfort aka sweatshirts or oversized tees. a backpack or a tote bag is always an essential accessory for him. he doesn't have the fashion knowledge to really dress up but he likes his style, believing that comfort > anything else.

get to know me.
TROPES :
abusive parents : his father wasn't the best person to be around. he was an alcoholic and even on the best of days, sungha couldn't avoid getting hit. of course, he preferred it to his mother being the one to get hurt.
stepford smiler : after high school and the events that occurred then, he's created some sort of mask. one that prevents anyone from seeing the pain and secrets that he's locked away. a smile here, a smile there. it's enough to make everyone assume everything is fine, that he's just as perfect and happy as he desperately tries to appear.
emotionally tongue-tied : he's never been too good with his words, worse after the loss of his lover who was the sole person that brought out an abundance of emotions from sungha. the reason he's so drawn to music or the arts is because of it's ability to allow proper expression of one's soul.
prince charming : this isn't true to his real self. rather, it's the image that people have created for him. whenever someone asks for assistance, he gives it. when someone is in distress, he'll lend a hand. somehow, he's taken on the identity that people envisioned him to have. he smiles, he apologizes, he helps, he does it all. he almost seems perfect, a girl's dream man. no one knows that the princely image is just a facade and that he's the furthest thing from perfection.
broken bird : not as cynical or as stoic as the trope but he does harbor a lot of hidden pains and sorrows. there are many times where he looks as though he's lost himself, staring off in a daze before having to be snapped out of it -- he of course returns with a soft smile and a quiet "i'm okay". the weight of his father's abuse, the death of his love, the judgement from his peers are all things he keeps under wraps, letting them torment his mind and his heart in silence.

PERSONALITY TRAITS :
→ ( positive ) : playful, kind, diligent, sweet, charming
→ ( negative ) : nervous, insecure, distant, absent-minded
→ ( neutral ) : introverted, soft spoken, witty, cheeky

PERSONALITY
here comes the prince : to any average person, sungha seems almost perfect, as if he came straight out of a fairytale. sure, he's more on the reserved side but if you're lost on campus, he'll approach you with his gentle smile and even offer to walk you to the right building. upperclassmen trust him to take care of things, knowing that he works hard on any given task and has the ability to fix any problems that happen along the way. no one has seen him snap at anyone or show any signs of annoyance or irritation. he greets everyone with a soft smile and always offers his hand when they're in need. the words he says are sweet, always complimenting others and finding the good in them when they're feeling low. it's hard to find a flaw in him and if people really tried, all they could do is point out how he seems to be in a random daze every once in a while. aside from that, he's any girl's dream guy.
behind the mask : if only that was all true. once you take him away from the adoring crowd, you'd see that sungha is shaped from the many traumas he's endured and his low self esteem. even when he speaks, he feels as though he's just been programmed to say kind things, too scared to say anything wrong as fear controls his every movement. as nice as it may seem to be viewed as a prince, sungha can't help but feel trapped in this fake persona, and is really just scrambling to keep it together in order to appease others and be accepted. however, he's convinced that no one would truly accept him and that he isn't worthy of creating friendships.
it's rare for him to not be pulled aside by at least someone every moment of the day. anyone on the outside looking in would look at him and assume that he's a big people person, always surrounded by adoring females and even males, but in reality, he's extremely distant. the conversations he exchanges with people are nothing but polite pleasantries. deep down, all he really wants is to really be able to connect with people, to be rid of the loneliness, but he's lost too much to try again. no one really knows anything besides the surface level of his life. he doesn't allow people to get any closer, usually only engaging in small talk. as much as he gives off "main character" vibes from his look and persona, he's really just like a drifting side character, being there when it's convenient for others, helping them when they're in need, only to disappear again.
when he's alone, the mask completely drops off and it's as if he becomes sadness itself. no more smiles, no more prince charming. he's like a zombie, moving around but absolutely soulless. he won't speak and it's as if there's a gray cloud following him, exhaustion evident in his distant eyes.
i want to be free (after character development) : once he learns to let go of his past hurts, he has so much potential to grow as a person. despite what he thinks, he genuinely is a kind and good person, the gentleness in his soul simply a part of him. as he starts to change and allow people into his life, he starts to really become happy. he comes to realize that the traits he thought he was struggling to show as a "prince" were ones that were innately a part of him. of course, now he can do them without the burden of doing it for the acceptance of others. he's learned to be free and with it came the ability to show his old witty, teasing, playful, occasionally snarky and sarcastic sides. the sides he had back when he was happily dating seunggyu. he can get into banters with people, joking around with them without a care in the world.
with the mask completely off and the pain having healed, rather than a charming prince, he's become somewhat of a caring but sassy king. he can roll his eyes without worry, he can make jabs at people freely, he'll roast his friends without blinking an eye. instead of keeping his distance with politeness, he's now fully stepped into the circle.

BACKGROUND.
tw : suicide, abuse, homophobia, implied depression
childhood, age 8
he's sitting outside, under the shade of a tree as he hugs his knees to his chest, cheek still red and stinging as he quietly stares down at the grass. this wasn't an unusual look for him. in fact, it happened quite often. his father would come home drunk, no matter what time of day it is, and just throw a fit. he'd throw things, he'd yell horrible words no child should ever have to hear, and he'd hit anyone he could. it was usually sungha or his mom. of course, even as a child, he wanted to protect his frail mother and his heroic desires left him with scars and bruises.
"hey, whatcha doing?"
he looks up, his own soulless and tired eyes meeting a pair of bright and curious ones.
that was the first day he met han seunggyu.
at first, he stayed unresponsive but when the strange boy decided he'd sit next to him and pull a bandaid out of his pocket, he found himself admitting that his father had hit him for speaking.
childhood, age 10
seunggyu and sungha were glued to the hip. you never saw one without the other and for the first time in his life, sungha found that he could laugh and have fun. the two shared toys, shared snacks, shared games. they were two peas in a pod and sungha found that he could finally rely on someone.
their two personalities seemed to be so different. sungha was quiet and timid while seunggyu was loud and adventurous. it was as if they completed each other, kept each other in balance.
even at such a young age, they had created a bond that no one could ever break. sungha learned what trust and joy was through seunggyu and it became rare to see one without the other.
seunggyu always made sure he held onto sungha's hands and even on the day that the authorities finally came to take sungha's drunk and abusive father away, seunggyu firmly stood in front of the smaller boy, refusing to move as sungha clung to his arms with his small, trembling hands.
high school, spring
the two of them eventually went to the same high school, much to sungha's delight. they weren't in the same class but the two of them still walked to and from school every day, eating lunch together and doing homework at each other's homes.
seunggyu being the social butterfly that he was, made many friends and helped sungha get acquainted with them as well. but, no matter how many friends surrounded them, everyone knew the two of them had a special bond.
sungha didn't know how it happened. if anything, it only seemed natural that the two of them would fall in love. they did everything together and in a way, it would be weird for the two of them not to have unique feelings. they never fully came out and told anyone, but when they were together, seunggyu would make his heart race with sweet kisses and gentle touches. it wasn't their intention to hide it from people but they saw no need to go out of their way to announce it to the public.
when sungha was with his boyfriend, he felt as though he was floating, heart swelling whenever he saw him. he was a bit more quiet about his feelings, of course, the stark contrast to seunggyu's constant bold actions and confessions. although he didn't say it often, he truly loved seunggyu with his whole heart.
han seunggyu was all of his firsts. his first friend, his first love, his first kiss, his first time, and eventually, his first heartbreak.
high school, winter
it shouldn't have been such a big deal but they were young and new to the concept of love and dating. insecurities would sneak in, emotions and words would be swallowed, honesty would be replaced by tired lies.
just as any other person, seunggyu went through his fair share of difficulties. of course, he refused to discuss them with sungha, knowing how much his boyfriend had gone through in his own life. instead, he used music to channel his emotions, becoming heavily invested in starting a band with several of his classmates. sungha would join them whenever he could, quietly falling in love with it just as much as his boyfriend, but due to rehearsals, the couple couldn't see each other as much.
things began to slowly build up. exhaustion, annoyance, insecurities, anger, personal pains, and one by one, the two found that they were drifting. neither of them seemed to be able to confront their issues, seunggyu wanting to just focus on music and ignore the problems in his life while sungha knew nothing of what was happening with seunggyu and only knew to cling to him. separation meant abandonment in his mind and he couldn't handle it.
before they knew it, they were having their first fight. yelling as the weeks of bottled up emotions flooded their systems, hurting each other with words they never meant to say.
"you're so goddamn selfish, seunggyu! i wish you would just disappear!"
words that were spat out in a blind fit of hurt became the very trigger that led seunggyu to drown his thoughts away in alcohol. he grabbed his third bottle and stumbled out into the bleak winter night.
sungha eventually found himself making his way over to his boyfriend's place, wanting to apologize for what he had said.
what happened next stuck with him for the rest of his life.
the night was cold, quiet, snow falling around him as he walked towards the familiar apartment complex. it was a silent winter until a loud thud snapped him out of his thoughts. he looked up to see what the noise was and in that moment, all life seemed to stop.
the snow was stained a crimson red, a shattered soju bottle resting not too far from the lifeless hands that once held them. sungha's heart raced, his ears growing deaf to the sounds of screams and panic from the nearby pedestrians as he collapsed to the floor.
in one night, he had lost everything.
high school, senior year
after the death of seunggyu, sungha seemed to change for the worse. he never went out with friends, he never spoke to anyone, he never laughed or smiled. it felt like a part of him had died that night.
rumors began to spread throughout the school, saying that seunggyu had committed suicide because he was afraid of being found out as gay. others claimed sungha was making him miserable, noting all the time the two spent together and that all the clinging was insufferable.
it didn't matter what anyone said. in the end, sungha still blamed himself. he would never allow himself to be forgiven and he decided that he would live with the pain, letting it haunt him.
present day
after running away from iksan, the judgement and stares of his peers becoming too much for him to bear, he vowed that he would never come out. he also vowed not to chase after music, the one thing seunggyu had loved so much but never got to fully pursue, and he also vowed to never get close to anyone again.
he decided to put on a mask, afraid to be disliked and made sure no one could see what he was really like or the pains he was going through. if he played the role of a well behaved, kind, normal boy, he wouldn't hurt anyone, right?
even then, his heart constantly yearns for seunggyu. when he walks down the streets, it's as if he can see his old lover, the way the two of them used to walk everywhere, the way they would always stop by a bakery to satisfy their sweet tooth, the way they were always together.
he doesn't admit it but he misses seunggyu. god, he misses him so much he could die.
deep down in his heart, he wants to be forgiven and he knows seunggyu wanted the same but he was never brave enough to ask for it. he believed he deserved to be in this pain.

quote.
two people who were always together are torn apart / that's all there is to this story / even if your everything loses it's shape one day / you'll always be here within me / as i try to move forward again / even though i couldn't say goodbye / you'll always be here with me

COLLEGE.
MAJOR :
→ undeclared ( once he goes through some character development and growth, he will eventually become a music major with a concentration in voice )
→ applied for the international business communicaion program simply because he felt as though he needed to pick something. eventually, he will switch out and go into the college of arts.

CLUBS AND SOCIETIES
→ is part of the student union, welcoming new students and helping them get adjusted as well as providing services and assistance to clubs that need it
→ also joined the theatre club on an absolute whim

COLLEGE LIFE
→ he tried his best to take classes that were later in the day, due to his inability to wake himself up on time but sadly, he ended up with several early morning classes. he'll skip breakfast, having spent too much time pulling himself together to actually make it out of the house instead of hiding under the blankets as he wishes he could. he'll greet people as he makes his way to class, apologizing to those who want to stop and talk with him, rushing a bit in the last minutes to make it on time.
→ when he's not in classes, doing his best to appear as a model student, he'll be in meetings with the student union and planning events or new ways to help better the environment for everyone. it's a tiring and endless day of offering his assistance to almost anyone who asks and solving all their problems and concerns. eventually, he'll hide away in an empty stairwell and let himself be surrounded by the silence.
→ he never misses a theatre meeting despite it being extremely far from his comfort zone. he's put on the spot quite often due to his popularity amongst the girls and their never ending requests. it pains him but he endures it all just for a chance to see dohyun act.
→ sungha would never choose to go to a party on his own free will. he's usually dragged along by his classmates or friends, unable to say no and even then, he tries to stay to himself. he'll offer a smile and make some conversation if he can but he'd much prefer to be anywhere else. despite not being a party animal, you'll usually see him at one.

TRIVIA.
» he doesn't drink alcohol. no matter how much someone persists, he'll give them a gentle 'no' along with the excuse of 'there's gotta be someone to take care of you guys if you drink too much.'
» the reason behind his strong refusal to drink is because it was one of the reasons that led to seunggyu's (his ex) death. it makes him nauseous just smelling it.
» if he's ever straight up forced to drink, he'll immediately throw up, unable to hold back on the swell of emotions and trauma.
» despite his desire to do music, he doesn't know much about the art form. he only knows that he loves it and that it's a beautiful way of expressing one's self.
» his vocal twin is ha hyunsang : one two three
» he has a habit of gripping onto the strap of his bag or backpack when he's anxious. he picked this habit up when he became friends with seunggyu, always hiding behind him or clinging onto him whenever something went wrong.
» unlike his princely image, he's quite a mess a home. after every day, he's too drained to even properly take care of himself so he relies on instant food or take out meals to survive. his home is a bit of a mess considering he usually crashes the minute he gets home -- when he's not reminiscing about seunggyu
» he really admires people of the lgbtq+ community who aren't afraid to show who they are and be themselves.
» sweets lover. he himself doesnt realize it but when he goes to a sweets shoppe, his eyes will light up with the littlest bit of life - a true, rare sight.
» desperately wants to learn guitar and has seunggyu's old guitar just collecting dust in his room. he can't muster up the courage to ask anyone though, guilt holding him back.
» he's usually found staring off into space and a lot of people find it a cute quirk that rivals his usual charming attitude. what they don't know is he's seeing seunggyu in all of the places they never got to explore together, in all the places he used to be.
» he can't sleep with the lights off. the electricity bill is through the roof but if his room is completely dark, he'll get nightmares.
» not a morning person at all. he's extremely groggy, disheveled, and out of it. when he gets ready, he's practically sleep walking.
» he has yet to cry in front of anyone or even let out a genuine laugh (post death of seunggyu) the usual emotions anyone sees is a polite smile and a soft chuckle.
» it isn't until after he finally lets go of seunggyu, forgiving him and his own self, that he's finally able to start crying.
» his main love language is physical touch. of course, he holds back from doing this to anyone due to his traumas. once he gets comfortable, he'll be quietly clinging onto you, patting your head, randomly playing with your hair, etc.
» often found hovering around the music department but he tends to run away when anyone notices him.
» he lives off campus, having found a fairly decent apartment that's close to the hospital his mom is at.

interview.
► which high school did you graduate from?
he pauses, gaze dropping as his eyes seem to lose focus. there's a whirl of mixed emotions rushing through his head as images of past memories play in his mind, reliving every moment in just a span of seconds. he presses his lips together, almost forcing a smile. iksan. i went to iksan high school.

► which major are you leaning towards?
he tenses, wondering how it was possible that the questions seemed to be stabbing at what hurt the most. i ,, i would like ,, , his usual well spoken, calm and collected image was slipping out of his grasps, crumbling after a mere two questions. he truly was the worst, selfishly wanting to pursue such a thing as he stole it from the one who deserved to chase after it instead. i'm thinking about doing music.

► what do you hope to gain out of college life?
how does one tell someone that they were only going to college because it was expected? that they were just mindlessly going through the routine of daily life and they had no expectations for the future? friends. he smiled. i think that making good relationships is the most important. it amazed him how he could lie so convincingly like that when people was what he was scared of the most.

► what is one word that you would want people to describe you as?
a word? he blinks, the question catching him off guard. sure, he knew the words that people already used to describe him but he wasn't sure if that was what he wanted. now that he thought about it, no one had asked what he wanted in such a long time. i guess i would want ,, he pauses, unsure how to think up an answer that wouldn't make him come off as selfish or big headed. at this point, he was ready to blurt out the cliche "kind" until years worth of suffering and hurt seemed to rush through his mind. the abuse, the loss, the hatred, the loneliness. they taunted him daily and yet, he was still here, still breathing. he clenches his hands into fists, resting them on his thighs as he  in a breath. strong. i want people to say i'm strong.

► what part-time jobs are you undertaking now or plan to undertake in the future?
oh, i'm currently working two part time jobs. one at a convenience store and another,, he pauses, finding that he doesn't have the courage to even say the words. the guilt is still heavy in his chest, knowing it's wrong for him to be so freely spending his time there when seunggyu never had the chance to. i ,, i also work at a music lounge. nothing too special. i just ,, , clean up after them, help them after shows.

► how do you cope with stressful situations?
moments where he went completely numb and silent seemed to come back to him. he was good at handling the problems of others but when it came to his own, especially anything that meant confronting his emotions, he tended to just shut down. no tears, no words, nothing. it was like his soul left him for a moment and he needed time until it returned. i suppose music helps.

► what is your take on drinking, clubbing, and nightlife activities?
i don't drink. he couldn't believe this was the first question he could answer without any hesitation. i'd much rather have a coke but i guess i can't stop others from having a good time ,, as for clubbing. i don't much prefer it, if i'm being honest. however, if people ask me to go, i couldn't say no ,, that might come off as rude, wouldn't it? the whole party life isn't exactly my scene but i do enjoy night time. it's just that, i enjoy it alone.

► do you plan to study abroad as an exchange student for a semester? if so, where?
i don't neccesarily have any plans to go anywhere. besides, my mother is here and i could never leave her alone for that long.

► which places would you like to travel to during school breaks?
his jaw clenched, eyes looking as though they had lost focus. he couldn't help but remember the time he and seunggyu discussed going to a beach, maybe even getting a room just for themselves for an overnight trip. he remembered how excited he had been. he remembered their promises and their plans. it felt like a knife in his chest. the beach ,, , i'd ,, i'd love to go to the beach.

► what are your short-term and long-term goals after graduating?
he had absolutely no goals. in all honesty, he was simply living for his mother's sake and because he felt as though he had to pay the price for what he did. sure, music was an interest, but he could never allow himself to go through with it. plastering on his usual grin, the smile hardly reaching his eyes, he simply gave his usual answer. i'll be enlisting in the army but until then, i'll be taking care of my mother. i'm not sure what i'll be doing career wise, but i'll work hard no matter what it is.

LOVE INTEREST CONT..
PERSONALITY :
→ dohyun is definitely a campus crush kind of guy. he's very friendly, always making sure to greet the newcomers and get them comfortable and used to the new setting of college life. he's the type of guy who can make conversation with just about anyone and be genuinely interested in what they have to say. the positivity is a trait he learned from his father, the two of them having pushed through rough waters together. dohyun is also extremely passionate and it shows in his work. the minute he steps on stage, it's as if he's become a different person and he loves the chance to try something new and get to understand the minds and lives of different people.
being an upperclassmen and having matured during his military enlistment, he's very reliable and knows when to be serious or even point out someone's inappropriate actions or words. he's not afraid to speak his mind, believing that it's only right to stand up for what is right and he always makes sure to do it with as much kindness is needed.
in a way, he's like sungha. kind and caring but he does it with a much brighter energy and outgoing nature while sungha does it gently and with the mindset that he's just faking it.

BACKGROUND :
→ he lives with just his father after the loss of his mother when he was younger. his father went through a huge slump and dohyun struggled down the path of anger and sorrow. the two of them were distant, not knowing how to cope with their grief and he eventually grew to resent his father, until he came home one day to see him crying over a picture of his deceased wife. something seemed to click in dohyun's mind in that moment. he learned that there were many people who were hurting in silence because they never learned how to express emotions and he and his father began to learn how to be more open with one another. they have a close relationship now, joking around and taking care of each other while keeping that honesty they had worked on for years.

OUR STORY
→ it was by pure chance that sungha's heart skipped a beat for the very first time in a long while. a student had lost her way to the theatre room and he had offered to walk her there, his usual smile adorned and all. the moment they opened the room to the auditorium, dohyun's voice shot through the room and seemed to pierce sungha's heart. in order to welcome the potential theatre students, the club had decided to show a few presentations to get them interested in joining. as dohyun stood on stage, sobbing and calling after his lover, sungha felt something stir inside of him. he didn't know if it was awe, confusion, fear, or sorrow but he knew he felt something. dohyun was standing up there doing something sungha could never do. express himself. after that day, he found that he couldn't think about anything else and ended up spontaneously joining the club.
→ dohyun treats sungha like any sunbae would. he takes care of him, greets him, checks in on him, etc. of course, there's something about sungha that leaves the older boy curious. he's heard the campus wide nickname sungha has and it's hard to miss the heart eyes of the underclassmen girls whenever sungha enters the room. what piques his interest is the way sungha seems to be acting, as if he's constantly on stage and unable to take off the mask of this character he's trying to portray.
→ as they get closer, sungha finds that the things he feels for dohyun are similar to what he felt for seunggyu and it terrifies him. first of all, he feels ashamed for even having the audacity to fall in love again after what happened and secondly, he's too scared to lose another person in his life. however, he can't help but desire it so badly. dohyun is so kind, so sweet and genuine. sungha can't help but want to allow himself to remember what love was like.
→ there are many times that sungha sees seunggyu in dohyun, especially since they share many similar traits. he's full of both pain and yearning, wondering if he'd ever be able to let go of his ex. it isn't until he starts to grow in self love and forgiveness that he finally realizes when he looks at dohyun, he isn't seeing seunggyu but simply dohyun. it's in the very moment that seunggyu's image doesn't replace dohyun's that sungha realizes he has finally let go of his old lover and can move on.
→ dohyun's attraction to sungha is slow, only seeing him as a hoobae and just an interesting human in general. as he gets to see cracks in sungha's mask and sees moments of vulnerability, he can't help but see himself after losing his mom. he wants to embrace him but he also wants to just hold his hand and walk with him as sungha struggles to fight through the ailments of life.
→ in a way, dohyun is similar to what seunggyu was to sungha. he fills in the missing aspects of sungha's life, being the loud to his quiet, the confident to his shy. but instead of leading like seunggyu did, holding sungha's hand and marching forward, dohyun stands by sungha's side and walks with him as he goes through life.

TRIVIA
→ he had already completed his military enlistment before university.
→ dohyun is actually a great cook, having learned from his chef father and always brings homemade sweets for the theatre members.
→ he majors in language and literature.
→ is a very active member of the theatre club
→ dohyun admires how sungha takes care of his mom, wishing he could have done the same for his own mother.
→ when he finds out that sungha's mom is in the hospital, he always offers to accompany him
→ sungha loves dohyun's dad, surprised that fathers like this even exist in this world. for the first time in his life, he receives some sort of fatherly love.
→ he has a pretty high alcohol tolerance but he tries not to drink until the point of geting drunk
→ after finding out that sungha loves sweets, he always stays up with his dad, trying to make something worth bringing to school.
→ he's quite skilled with the acoustic guitar, having self taught himself in high school just because he thought girls liked musical boys
→ he had always assumed he was straight until he met sungha, not really questioning the natural attraction he began to have as they got closer.
→ as an aspiring creative writer, he'll help write scripts for the theatre club but everyone likes seeing him on stage so much that he's usually pushed to focus on acting - not that he minds.
→ he has a car and a driver's license but prefers to walk or just take the bus, enjoying people watching as he makes his way around the city.

FINAL THOUGHTS.
COMMENTS : i don't think i explained his personality as well as i could so please let me know if i need to clarify anything aaaa i will also fill in the relationships section as i communicate with the ones i am collabing with! oH and i'm not sure if my "college life" section is correct. i didn't add what classes he's taking because he's still undeclared and i couldn't figure out what g.e classes were available.
the interview is kind of pre character development so i just answered them how he would have during that time. basically, i am offering you this flawed, broken boy and you are free to develop him at your own pace or just keep him how he is, i guess fksdjkf whatever works for you

SCENE REQUESTS
→ for sungha to finally come to terms with the death of his love and break down into the sobs he's been holding in for all this time
→ after sungha moves on and decides to pursue music, he gets a chance to perform a song he wrote (with some help from his musically talented friends) and for the first time, everyone is finally able to really see a vulnerable sungha, the emotions and pain in his voice just hitting them like bricks.
he's clearly nervous as he's singing, never having expressed anything to anyone before. even as he sings, it's as if he's searching for seunggyu in the crowd, gripping onto the mic like he does with his backpack straps. just hh lots of raw emotion, a trembling voice, and eventual tears
⇒ the song : where are you now
→ a kiss scene with dohyun and sungha is just so genuinely happy and finally able to give love and receive love again
→ maybe his dad or his old iksan classmates come back and he doesn't know how to react, too terrified to do really do anything, because no one knows about his past and he doesn't want to face anything from back then.
→ just cute moments of sungha slowly shedding both his fake prince image and his pains so he can joke around for once, even allow himself to be teased so he can give a playful jab back
→ him being forced to drink and he ends up throwing up, startling people by his reaction towards alcohol and dohyun, concerned, comes over to take care of him and the situation.
→ weeps just something soft like sungha getting sick and dohyun coming to check on him, noticing how horribly he lives and just staying by his side and cleaning up/cooking for him

hello,
chaesungha
@chungmyung
just a soft boy, broken and scared, who's heart is finally opening up to love after running away from it for too long
meet the family!
chae miyeon // 49 // mother
⇒ she's where sungha gets his kind and gentle nature from. he also learned his quietness and fears from her as well. the two of them only have each other and though they both don't speak much, they care for each other deeply and always work hard to serve the other in any way. she's very protective over him, especially after what they went through because of her husband and he's just as protective of her because of her weak health. when he got accepted into university of ulsan, the two of them moved out of iksan, sungha finding a cheap apartment and his mom staying at the hospital. her mental health had deteriorated as time went on, unable to properly take care of herself as she went into random manic fits or just times of heavy depression. she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and she's currently being treated for the aftermath of the abuse. sungha continues to do his best to visit her daily.
chae hosung // 52 // father
⇒ a horrible man, really. he was taken away by the authorities once and for all but continues to call for sungha, constantly bothering him for money, abusing him with his words as he fails to mask his disgust and hatred towards his own son. sungha is terrified of him, even loathes him from deep within his heart, but he can't seem to muster up the courage to say anything.
friends + important others
han seunggyu // deceased // ex
⇒ he was his best friend, his lover, he was all of sungha's firsts. while sungha was resserved and shy, seunggyu was outgoing and friendly. he pulled sungha out of the constant miseries of his life at home and brought laughter, excitement, and eventually love into his life. the two were extremely sweet on each other, sungha a bit flustered by seunggyu's constant playful teasings and advances but he treasured him like nothing else. he made sungha a better version of himself, helping him to grow comfortable in his own skin.
yoon inhyeon // collab with toska-
⇒ blurb
lee seulbi // collab with wishesque
⇒ blurb
kang heera // collab with sirius-
⇒ heera and sungha are both very reserved people, living behind their own facades as they try to navigate life. in the beginning, they don't do much but exchange pleasantries, the same sort of kind mask anyone uses when they're meeting someone they don't know for the first time. it isn't until sungha musters up the courage to ask heera to give him some guitar lessons that the two of them start spending more time together. he's very back and forth about these lessons due to his guilt but when he does take the chance to sit down and learn, he can't help but be filled with awe and admiration for the girl and her incredibly talent. he holds her to such high standards and always gives such genuine praise. as the two start to get closer, well, as close as two people with masks can get, they can't help but become healing factors in each other's lives. through heera and her family, he witnesses what a truly wholesome and happy family looks like and when heera learns about his mom, she begins to consider medical possibilities for her anxiety. without either of them knowing, they bring out the best in each other. sungha learns to be more assertive, coming to heera'a aid in times of an anxiety attack and heera becomes braver in taking a step towards confronting it.
maria kawamura // collab with brainkang
⇒ he never thought maria would be someone he could ever get close to. after all, the two of them were complete opposites. she's so strong and ambitious. she's not afraid to go after what she wants. sungha is the complete opposite. if anything, he's a tad bit intimidated by her and can't manage anything past his usual smile and a "hello." it wasn't until he had run into his old high school classmates that he and maria became close. startled by the unexpected run in, he found himself in a panic as they brought up old memories, hardly noticing how uncomfortable he was getting. as they continued to hound him with questions, maria (who happened to overhear everything) decided to step in and save him from his suffering. under the guise of sungha's "girlfriend" the two of them managed to escape the dreadful scene and further keep their orientations under wraps. since then, she's become a sort of shield for him, standing up for him and speaking up when he can't. with both of them being in the closet, they find solace in each other, bonding over their mutual desire to love themselves and be rid of the guilt they carry.
kawanishi katsuki // collab with blackandwhiteburns
⇒ sungha and katsuki had an almost unique first meeting. katsuki just happened to see the boy sitting in the common area and was immediately able to take note of the emptiness that seemed to rest behind sungha's eyes. being reserved himself, katsuki decided to draw him a sweet little note of encouragement, startling sungha with the kind gesture. of course, it touched his heart that a stranger would go out of their way to cheer him up and ever since, they would exchange greetings and smiles. the thing is, you put two quiet people together, eventually they'll run out of small talk and just sit in awkward silence until someone makes the first move. they have a gentle relationship where they both want to get to know each other but their personalities make it a little hard. regardless, they find comfort in the soft quiet and each other.
iwata takeshi // collab with blackandwhiteburns
⇒ the two of them first met when sungha was tasked with interviewing takeshi for his success in archery. it was there that takeshi first sensed that sungha wasn't exactly how he tried to appear but said nothing. the two of them continued to exchange small talk whenever they bumped into each other and though they're not very close, they'll occasionally grab a bite to eat together. it's during those little moments that sungha feels he can slowly open up and live life, especially with takeshi opening up doors for him and creating those opportunities. his blunt personality perfectly pairs with sungha's reserved one, practically forcing the other to be free from the facade he puts up and just enjoy life. they often bump into each other at parties and even there, takeshi looks out for the poor people pleaser, saving him when he's pressured to drink. sungha admires takeshi's ability to speak his mind and views him almost like an older brother figure.
song yihwa // collab with tbhddaeng
⇒ sungha originally got to know yihwa through myunghwan and heera after idling around the music building every so often. she would be there when he received lessons and the two of them naturally conversed, both of them being very skilled in making small talk like they didn't have any underlying issues. in the midst of their conversations, yihwa can't help but see herself in him, the way he tries to seem like someone he's not. it's not until they meet again at a party that they actual have a real and genuine conversation. while everyone else is having fun getting drunk, the two of them step away from the crowd and try to get to know each other, learning how to open up and in turn, gaining a new friend and some knowledge on the process of making good relationships. as they grow closer, they become a great support system for one another. sungha is even able to step in when yihwa's father comes around — of course, he doesn't really stand up to him. rather, he butts in with a little lie to help drag her away from the situation. nevertheless, there's growth in character.
