PERSONALITY

+Positive: Creative, Kind, Social butterfly, Caring
-Negative: Clumsy, Daydreamer, Forgetful, Sarcastic

Hao Yang is the type of person that is like the brother that always treats their siblings. Whether the members wanna go out to eat, buying snacks or wanna go places; Hao Yang would make it happen. He would get scolded for always spoiling the other younger contestants that he got to know in the show so he would tone it down a bit for a while. He is also the type of person that would volunteer to do something if no one else wants to do it. Most of the time you would see him doing the dishes since no one else wants to do it. He really looks after the younger contestants and sees them like the siblings he's never had. He loves meeting new people and most of the time start the conversation. Growing up he watched a lot of fantasy Chinese dramas about cultivating heroes. He looked up to these sorts of character due to a sense of bravery and honour the characters has. When he was younger he wanted to be just like them; I guess that some of that made its way into his own personality.

He would listen to traditional Chinese music in his free time and it's like he gets lost in another world. When this happens it takes a lot to pull him out and back to reality. He can also be forgetful especially when he goes to buy groceries he would always forget something. So everyone ends up writing downs what they need from the supermarket and give the list to him. He remembers when schedules are but would forget when dance practices are.

BACKGROUND

Jin Hao Yang was born in Beijing, China on the 18th of April in 1996. His parents were pretty well off, so he grew up comfortably. His dad is a Korean named Jin Kwang Sun and his mother is Han Chinese named Zhang Chang Xing. His father moved to Beijing for a job at the sister company. And that was how he met Hao Yang’s mother. They both got married and had Hao Yang. His mother passed away when Hao Yang was only 3 years old, so he doesn’t remember her that well. Most of the time his father would tell him about her. When his mother passed away his father had to juggle work and looking after Hao Yang. At first, it was a bit difficult and he would prefer to just stay at home to look after his son, but he knows that he also had to work. But he somehow worked it out. As Hao Yang grew up and started heading to school sometimes, he would be picked up by his grandparents from his mother’s side and stay with them until his dad would come home from work. At his grandparent's house, they would always be watching those old Chinese fantasy dramas about the ancient world of magic, martial arts, cultivation, heroes, Emperors, Princes and Princesses. Which would fascinate him and shaped his childhood. When he was about 8 years old his father took him and his grandparents to a theatre show where the performers used the art of Chinese classical dance to tell ancient myths and legends. From this show, Hao Yang was mesmerised and wanted to be apart of this world. So, he begged his father to let him learn. At first, his father said no but after constantly begging him his father finally gave in. So, his father found an after-school program that teaches this style of dance and enrolled his son. After the first class, Hao Yang really enjoyed it and would go continuously to these classes after school.

Near the end of his first year of middle school, he was walking down the hall to towards lunch when he stopped in front of the notice board when he noticed a flyer for the choir club. Staring at it he thought ‘let’s try something different’ so he went to the choir room and joined the choir club. While being in this club he realised that he also enjoyed singing, not as much as Chinese classical dance though. So, he continued going to the choir club and the after school Chinese classical dance lessons throughout middle school. When he got to high school, he also joined the choir club and continued as he did in middle school. He would also make sure he visited his grandparents on the weekends because he loves then a lot and enjoys spending time with them.

After his high school graduation in 2014, he was accepted to the Beijing Dance Academy and majored in Chinese Classical Dance. He took vocal classes there as an elective but dropped out of that class after a semester because he wanted to focus on his major. He jumped from job to job when he first started studying at the academy. But soon settled down as a part-time model so that he has an income to pay for food and living expenses since he was living away from home. He wanted to become independent attending the academy since he felt bad for relying on his father after he moving out. Lucky he had a scholarship that paid his tuition which was something he didn't have to worry about. There he was able to be friends with a lot of people because of his personality as a social butterfly. He became known as the older brother who spoils the juniors in his year. He was able to become friends with a boy named Huang Li Qiang entered the academy a year after him. The two became close friends. However, there was a person who was jealous of Hao Yang named Wang Li Wei because of how popular Hao Yang was. He entered the academy the same year as Hao Yang and somehow wormed his way into Hao Yang’s circle of friends and waited for an opportunity to take Hao Yang down. Hao Yang had no idea because he never saw Li Wei as that kind of person. That was until the third year at the academy when Li Wei planned to sabotage three other students who he also saw as opponents and plant the blame on Hao Yang. Well, in the end, the three students got hurt to the point that hat they couldn’t continue studying in that field anymore and had to change major. Hao Yang tried to defend himself, but the evidence made it clear to the higher up of the academy that the main culprit was him. He was then given a choice to drop out or be expelled. He ended up choosing to drop out since expulsion would look bad on his record.

Once he packed up and went home his father was waiting for him. He knows his son wouldn’t do this and just comforted his son. His father also stormed into the academy to demand answers, but nothing really came of it. His father swore and cursed as he left the office. A few days later Hao Yang looked like he was dead inside which broke his father’s heart. Hao Yang then asked his father if he was gonna take up that job back in his hometown of Seoul, Korea. His father mentioned it to him about a week ago and was still thinking about it and that’s what he told Hao Yang. Hao Yang just said, “If you do can you please take me with you.” Of course, his father would if his son wanted to. It was so heartbreaking to see how broken his son had become. So that’s how they ended up moving to Seoul, Korea. It took a few months, but it finally happened. In between moving Hao Yang brushed up on his Korean and helped his father.

When they got to Korea he tried looking for some part-time modelling jobs since it was something that he was familiar with but didn't want to do it as a career. But he was only able to find work here and there so he tried finding part-time jobs everywhere just so he had an income. He was jumping from job to job like when he first started to look for work while studying at the academy. As both Hao Yang and his father slowly unpacked everything in their new house in Korea Hao Yang found his old notebooks from the vocal classes at the academy and even ones from the choir club from high school. He decided to focus on singing and took up a few vocal lessons just to get back into it. His vocal teacher was impressed and recommended that he try and audition at a trainee company. Seeing as he had nothing to lose be tried out for SM entertainment which he didn’t get. He then tried for BigHit Entertainment which he also didn’t get. He then thought maybe he would have a better chance at smaller companies. So, he then tried OtR Productions which he passed.

- Friend : Huang Li Qiang / Professional Chinese Classical Dancer / Kind, Loyal, Confident / 7-10
When at Beijing Dance Academy Hao Yang was friends with a lot of people. With the personality of a kind older brother, his group of friends would ‘be under his wing.’ But Huang Li Qiang has been the closest person. At first, it was admiration that Li Qiang felt for Hao Yang but after a while, it turned into feelings of love. But he’s too scared to say anything in fear of rejection and the fear of Hao Yang being disgusted with him. He didn’t know his feelings were that deep until Hao Yang was made to leave the Academy and it was worse when he found out the Hao Yang had left the country. It’s been almost 3 years and he still carries a torch (feeling wise) for Hao Yang.

- Former Friend : Wang Li Wei / Professional Chinese Classical Dancer / Jealous, Petty, Manipulative / 1-10 Wang
Li Wei is very competitive and thinks that he deserves to be at the top. He isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty to reach it either. When he sees that Hao Yang is popular with the other students at the Academy and was seen to be more talented than him Li Wei got jealous and saw Hao Yang as a person that needed to be taken out. But he couldn’t just attack the guy since that would make Li Wei look bad. So, the scary thing he did was to try to be Hao Yang’s friend and use that friendship to chip away at Hao Yang while waiting for an opportunity to completely get rid of the guy. He came up with a plan to sabotage three other students and place evidence so the blame would land on Hao Yang. After being forced to drop out he crossed paths with Li Wei and realised it was Li Wei who set the whole thing up. When he said that he would expose Li Wei for what he did Li Wei just laughed in his face and mocked him. Stating the fact that without evidence how would people believe Hao Yang since everything point to him. Hao Yang looked so defeated and Li Wei continued to mock him. All Hao Yang said was “Why?” as he was holding back tears. Li Wei just leaned in and told him quietly in a condescending way “It’s your fault for getting in my way.” With that, he started walking away as Hao Yang’s closed his eyes as a tear escaped sliding down his face. To patronise him even further Li Wei said, “Don’t you have some packing to do?” and left with a smirk on his face.

- First Trainee Friend: Choi Byeong Su / OtR Productions Trainee / Energetic, Bubbly, Loyal / 8-10
On his first day as a trainee at OtR Productions, he met Choi Byeong Su. A bubbly person who’s like an energetic ball of sunshine. He was younger than Hao Yang by 2 years and found the boy was just an adorable ball of energy. Byeong Su was pretty much the first person that helped him settle in at OtR Productions and introduced him to the other trainees. When Hao Yang’s older habits start shown and he starts spoiling the younger trainees in his group of friends. Byeong Su would always be like “Me first!” which Hao Yang happily obliged. Byeong Su reminded Hao Yang of Li Qiang back in China. After Hao Yang the cut of the trainees that were picked to be part of a group at Sunlight Entertainment, he was sitting alone to try and process it Byeong Su found him and ask if he was ok. When Hao Yang told him what happened and wasn’t sure if he should accept the offer since he didn’t feel like he was good enough Byeong Su just slapped and pretty much scold him for being so negative. When Hao Yang just said, “What about you?” Byeong Su just told him “Hyung, don’t worry about me. I’ll keep practising and working hard to improve myself. Maybe I’ll be able to join in the future or even offered other opportunities. Just focus on what you want, Hyung.” Which is what helped Hao Yang accept the offer in the group DEVIL days later. Months later Hao Yang finds Byeong Su sitting on the floor in one of the practice rooms pouting and sighing. Which was an odd sight since Hao Yang has never seen the boy like this before? When Byeong Su hears Hao Yang walking up to him and sits in front of him he looks up. Before Hao Yang could ask what’s wrong he asks his hyung “Hyung, am I annoying” which surprises Hao Yang making Hao Yang think “The ” and he just says “No. Never... Why?” Byeong Su tells him about a guy that he likes but he thinks that the guy he likes finds him annoying. Hao Yang ends up trying to comfort him. When Byeong Su asks him for advice Hao Yang just says “You’re asking the wrong person for love advice because I have no idea.”

Being trained in Chinese classical and ethnic music before arriving back in Korea made him different from the other trainees. When practising his vocals, a unique style shines through his singing which he was praised for. However, he found that he was falling behind the other trainees when in dance practice which is why he spent most of his nights practising until he caught up with the other trainees. While being trained in Chinese classical dance had made his body more flexible making it a bit easier to dance but having to learn more hip hop and urban dance style to be up to speed with other trainees made him really focus and try his hardest. SCANDALS

When Hao Yang mentioned that he used to train to become a Chinese Classical Dancer but had to end that path netizens became curious as to why. Hao Yang would give really vague answers such as “that path wasn’t right for me” or “It no longer suited what I wanna do in career-wise” but netizens could tell that he was just putting on a front. It was clear to them that he loved Chinese Classical Dance too much to just give it up like that. So as netizens do, they started digging and soon found out that he studied Chinese Classical Dancer at Beijing Dance Academy which wasn’t that surprising since a few Chinese kpop idols are alumni there. When they found out that he was kicked out for sabotaging other students to the point that they couldn’t continue studying in that field he started to lose fans. He started getting hate comments and it would get so bad for him that he would have to stop activities. Whenever he tried to defeat himself it would get worse. He thought that he could leave this part of his life behind him but it ended up coming back to haunt him. It got blown up so big that Beijing Dance Academy was then dragged into it. Graduates and even some students that still attend the Academy started to defend Hao Yang which confused the heck out of the netizens in Korea. Even one of the victims says that it just doesn't add up. The graduates and students from the Academy say that it’s not Hao Yang. Even though the Academy has closed this case everyone else who had been friends with Hao Yang at the Academy refused to stop until they find who really did it. Some netizens ended up helping to clear Hao Yang’s name. It took a few months but they finally found the real person who did it. It ended up being Hao Yang’s former friend Wang Li Wei. Netizen’s ended up boycotting him so much. When Hao Yang heard about this he ended up telling netizen’s to stop and just leave Li Wei alone. But it was too late, the netizen’s had ruined his reputation and career. (A/N: I’m not sure if this counts as a scandal)

AH, HELLO YANG! PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF FOR THE CAMERA!

After listening to the question he turns to face the camera and introduces himself “Oh.. Hi everyone I’m Jin Hao Yang or as most of you guys know me as Yang.” He waves at the camera with both his hands.

GOOD, GOOD! HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE FINALLY ON THE ROAD TO DEBUT?

“It feelks great, like we are finally getting somewhere. I can’t wait until we as a group are able to debut and can perform our songs to fans,” Hao Yang answers in an excited tone.

DO YOU GET ALONG WITH THE...NEW MEMBER?

Hao Yang just stared a the two people behind the camera for a bit with a confused and slightly offended look ‘what with the pause’ but then began to answer the question “yeah. We get along fine. I try and make him feel welcomed into the group and treat him like I do everyone else. He’s a pretty cool guy,” Hao Yang says.

DO YOU GET ALONG WITH THE REST OF THE GROUP?

“I think I’m ok with everyone in the group. There’s a bit of tension here and there between some of the other group members. Which is fine since most of the time to stop potential fight/argument from starting or I tend to stay out of it altogether. Naturally, there are tensions between vampires and werewolves. Mostly I tend to try and stay out of his way just so I don't accidentally start something or tick him off. So yeah. Most of the time we all try to get along,” as he glances around at the other members add he looks back at the camera.

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE FALLEN ANGEL CONCEPT FOR DEVIL?

“It’s pretty cool. It seems like a darker concept and I was kinda missing the emo era of kpop” he answers as he thinks back to VIX going full emo a few years back.

ANY LABELMATES YOU LOOK UP TO? ROLE MODELS?

“I find that my cousin Skylar from MoTHER is very inspiring when she practices and performs. The way she’s gives it her all is what I look up too,” he was quick to answer like he didn’t need to think about this question.

IF YOU COULD ONLY CHOOSE ONE, WHAT STRENGTH OF YOURS WOULD YOU PICK?

He pauses for a while tilting his head up thinking. “Well, I would have to say my number one strength is keeping our group together. I know that is mostly the leader’s job but I can help out as well and even though I don’t expect anything the other’s say that they are thankful that I’m here with them,” Hao Yang says as a smile appears on his face as he thinks of the members.

THANK YOU FOR LETTING US DO THIS INTERVIEW, SAY GOODBYE TO THE CAMERA YANG!

He turns to the camera “Hang tight everyone. Hope we can see and meet everyone soon. Byeeee!!,” he says as he waves to the camera.

LOVE INT Lee Myung Dae

BIRTHDATE January 20, 1995

OCCUPATION Postgraduate student, part-time barista

FACECLAIM Song Kang (Backup: Cha Eunwoo)

PERSONALITY

Lee Myung Dae is a big flirt and has a playful allure. He enjoys flirting and could flirt to break the ice with someone. He considers flirting a fun way to interact and may flirt just to be playful, rather than to interest someone in developing a romantic relationship with him. He finds the different reactions of people that he is flirting with interesting. In a way, it’s a good thing because it can improve the self-esteem of the person he flirts with. So yeah, he’s flirted with a lot of people. However, when he started getting interested in Hao Yang he went from 1 to 100 which was a bit much for Hao Yang to handle. When Myung Dae found that what he was doing wasn’t working and that it had made Hao Yang start to avoid him he realised that he needed to tone it down which is what he did. Myung Dae is the type of person that loves to be close and touch the person that he likes. So when they are together you would see him touching Hao Yang one way or another; it could be hugging or grabbing his hand After getting close to Hao Yang, the boy found his sunbae kinda romantic, a bit clingy and childish towards him. Sometimes Hao Yang finds it hard to believe that Myung Dae is older than him. It’s also hard for Hao Yang to believe that the handsome flirt is the same person that uses aegyo and puppy eyes to threaten him.

FIRST MEETING

They first met when Hao Yang decided he needed a caffeine hit in the afternoon. He decided to head to a café near the OtR Productions company building. There weren’t that many people in the café that day and no one was at the register. He decided to call out when he stood there ready to order “Hello?” Suddenly the barista popped up in front of the register scaring Hao Yang less. The barista apologised for scaring him which he said it was fine and ordered his really sweet caramel coffee. His eyes glided over the different cakes and pastries in the display cabinet have made different expressions which clearly showed that he had no idea which one to get. The barista found him adorable, so he suggested the ones that he personally likes which was the matcha slice. After squinting a bit to learn that the barista’s name is Lee Myung Dae from the name tag he thanked for the recommendation Myung Dae as the boy took his order. Myung Dae learned that this boy’s name is Yang since he told him his name to write down on the cup. soon after he came out and placed Hao Yang’s order at her table and started clearing another table. After that, he looked back at the boy that he just served and saw him take a bite of the cake. Hao Yang’s eyes went wide like saucers as he took the fork out of and stared at it for a while. Just seeing Hao Yang’s eyes light up like that made Myung Dae smile at how cute this boy was. After clearing tables, he had to do some stuff at the back for a while. When he came back to the counter 45 minutes later ‘Yang’ had already left. But it was nice that he brought the plate and left it the counter by the kitchen door. When Myung Dae lifted the plate, he saw a napkin which read “Thanks for the recommendation. It’s delicious. Will definitely come back here again” and below that were what Myung Dae assumed were his initials ‘JHY’. He figured out that the ‘Y’ stood for Yang but from that day Myung Dae would wonder what the rest of the boy’s name is.

LOVE STORY

After their first meeting, Myung Dae would hope that Hao Yang would come in again. But after two weeks went by he was starting to lose hope until the very person he was thinking of walked through the door with a few other trainees. Hao Yang decided to shout his dongsaengs so he went up and ordered for them.  Since it was a slow day Myung wanted to talk with the boy in front of him more but he ended up flirting with the boy. Hao Yang started to go red from all of the flirting that Myung Dae was firing his way so once his drinks were done he just bolted to where the other trainees. He couldn’t look in Myung Dae’s direction because he was so shy after that. Myung Dae was like “” in his brain. “I overdid it,” was all he could think as he almost dropped a glass he was cleaning. After a while, the other trainees left and Hao Yang was still in the café finishing off his food. Just as he was getting ready to leave Myung Dae who had just finished his shift stopped him when they got outside and apologised for his behaviour before and asked if they could start again. When Hao Yang saw that Myung Dae’s face was sincere and had that look that he really wanted to get to know him Hao Yang was like “Sure” and they both talked as they took a little walk.

After that time Hao Yang would always come to that same café to grab a coffee or just to have some downtime from being a trainee. They both became closer and Hao Yang asked if he was a fairy because he always had a feeling that Myung Dae gave off the impression of one. If it was anyone else asking than Myung Dae would be offended but for some reason, he couldn't get angry at Hao Yang. He ended up correcting the vampire saying that he's a pixie. Hao Yang apologised profusely because he had heard the rivalry between fairies and pixies. Unlike the tensions between his kind and werewolves, it was worse for Myung Dae since pixies and fairies look so similar as species. After that Hao Yang learned that Myung Dae moved from Busan to Seoul to study and get away from his chaotic family. He told Hao Yang that he wanted to do something different with his life once he was out of high school and that’s how he ended up at one of the top universities in Seoul. Myung Dae would learn about Hao Yang too. About how he wanted to become a Chinese Classical dance. But would only say that stuff happened that made him change his career. Myung Dae saw Hao Yang’s expression saddened so he slightly changed the subject. “So, do you miss it? Back in China?” he asked Hao Yang. “Of course. it’s home. But I can’t go back, not yet” Hao Yang let out a sigh. He really missed home. “Besides I still have responsibilities here that I need to commit to,” he told Myung Dae. “Oh right, you’ve mentioned that you’re a trainee at OtR Productions. how’s that going for you?” Myung Dae asked Hao Yang so he told him what it was like as a trainee. This kinda became the usual whenever they meet just catching up and talking about anything. He would notice that Hao Yang would treat and spoil the younger trainees most of the ones in his friend group. He would notice that other trainees would want to be friends with Hao Yang or be under the boy’s wing because of how he takes care of his friends. Which is what he found attractive and be drawn to Hao Yang. The boy cares for so many people but who cares for him. After thinking a while he wants to be close with Hao Yang and be the person that cares for the boy. Over time they would grow closer and closer that Myung Dae would confess his feeling for Hao Yang. At first, Hao Yang would tell him that he needed to think things over because of the stuff around trainees dating. But in the end, they would end up dating in secret.

Months later around the time after netizens had found out that he was kicked out for sabotaging other students while attending Beijing Dance Academy and it was around the height of all the hate comments and him loosing fans that Hao Yang was spiralling into depression again and was too afraid to go on the internet. He was sitting in one of the practice rooms in the late afternoon with tears streaming down his face while shutting people out and isolating himself from everyone. He had both his legs close to his chest with both hands hugging them and his chin rested on his knees just staring at nothing in particular. Byeong Su was trying to talk to calm him down and comfort him. He had never seen his hyung like this before and seeing how broken Hao Yang was he had a feeling that Hao Yang couldn’t have done what people have accused him of. However, it didn’t work even for Myung Dae so he told Hao Yang that he’ll be back and went to find what he thought was the only person that might be able to get through to his hyung, Myung Dae. So Byeong Su helped Hao Yang up and contacted Myung Dae before they both headed to Myung Dae’s apartment. When they got there and Myung Dae opened the door he saw the object of his affections broken as another tear ran down the boy’s face. The scandal associated with Hao Yang he had heard about but he had a strong feeling that it wasn’t true. But didn’t know that it would affect Hao Yang this badly. He thanked Byeong Su for telling him before Byeong Su left and Myung Dae moved Hao Yang to the couch in the living room and just held the boy while whispering comforting words to him. When Hao Yang looked up at him the boy looked like he wanted to start crying again. Myung Dae just put his hands around the boy and moved his head to lay on Myung Dae’s shoulder as Myung Dae started his hair. “I didn’t do it but was still blamed. I’ve moved away from trying to start over but it still haunts me. Won’t this nightmare end” Hao Yang said in between sobs. Hao Yang’s words sounded so heartbreaking as Myung Dae listened to them. After a while of Myung Dae whispering soft comforting words to Hao Yang that he realised that Hao Yang had fallen asleep on his shoulder. Myung Dae let out a sigh thinking “He must have been exhausted from everything and cried himself to sleep. Poor thing” and Myung Dae leaned close to Hao Yang. “You look after so many people but not yourself. Let me look after you” he said in a soft voice as he looked down at the sleeping Hao Yang. After that Myung Dae was always there with Hao Yang until the whole scandal blew over.

INTERACTIONS

Myung Dae is the type of person that loves touching the person he likes. So you would always see him touching Hao Yang one way or another. But for Hao Yang, he gets really shy since he has no experience in relationships and before Myung Dae hasn’t really liked anyone before. Myung Dae would want to take things further but he knows Hao Yang isn’t ready so he is willing to wait. It’s really unfair for Hao Yang because Myung Dae uses puppy eyes and aegyo which makes Hao weak. It surprises him sometimes that Myung Dae is older than him because of how Myung Dae acts around him.
