persoNality.

"I left a life of easy privilege to constantly risk my life. What's wrong with me?"

She's always thrown herself into things that would set her apart from the chaebol life: studying Japanese to become a translator in Japan; taking up photography to become a nature photographer; studying history with the dream of being a historian. But nothing ever got the blood pumping through her veins quite like the mafia. She enjoys being kept on her toes. Anything at any time could go wrong, and that thought, that feeling, gives her the best dose of dopamine. With this comes a recklessness that the Godfather always chastises her about: "It'll catch up with you one day. Calm down." Right. Whatever you say, Godfather.

"How can we stay a step ahead?"

To survive in this world, she has to be smart and think outside the box. She always makes sure to add her opinion on a strategy after she's thought about things from all possible angles. If she's not careful, her mind can overthink and throw her into a paranoia. Then she starts considering things like maybe they all know she wonders what it's like to be Godfather. Make no mistake about it, she knows she's playing a dangerous game. That's why she makes sure to stay on her Ps and Qs and remain a useful asset.

"How much are these?"

Bobae has never been a stranger to money. She loves spending it as much as she loves receiving it. Her walk-in closet can attest to that. She may have scoffed at the chaebol label but not the money that came with it, and she always assumed she would be able to fall back on her parents' funds. Guess not. As long as her mafia family stays on top, the Armani dresses and Jimmy Choo pumps aren't going anywhere. She was born in a life of pamper, and she'll die in a life of pamper.

"I'm okay. We're here to talk about you."

If she ever spills her deep-seated emotions, shoot her because it's an imposter. She's better at being an observer and a listener. If a person doesn't want the truth, don't ask her. Even the Godfather knows this. Not everyone appreciates it, but if she genuinely cares, it's her way of looking out for you. It also turns out that knowing things about others gives her the upper hand. Even when she's being considerate, kind, and sympathetic, there's an ulterior motive. Ugh. Why she's like this, she doesn't know.

"I'm breaking his nose."

Since coming into contact with Korea's underbelly at the age of 18, she's been trained in self defense and takedown. She has a rule: when she's on a job, no mercy. There's not too many people willing to get on her bad side. One time, she dislocated both the shoulders of a punk harassing a woman at one of their clubs. Don't let the pretty, made up face fool you. She has tons of battle scars underneath all the glam. And yeah, she covers them up, but that doesn't necessarily mean she's ashamed of them.

background.

Growing up in Gangnam to a wealthy family, she's never wanted for anything. She had access to the best schools and connections that would set her up for life. And hey, she didn't have the cliche rich parents who didn't give a about her. They actually cared and showed her attention. She had everything going for her, and maybe that scared some part of her. Who knows.

It started the day Bobae found out one of her classmates was selling weed to the spoiled brats of her school. He single handedly controlled the market. A simple supply and demand. From then on, she studied him. Watched his movements. Sometimes, she would let her gaze linger a little too long, having the mind to act like a caught school girl whenever he noticed.

it didn't take long for him to approach her with the confidence of a school boy who felt like he could impress any girl. They became the ideal couple. He didn't think much of the throwaway opinions here and there about his little side hustle: "Don't you think that kid is kind of weird, oppa? Be careful." or "Expanding your clientele is only the next possible step. Hm... does this shirt go, honey?" He didn't pay attention until it turned out that the odd kid was a snitch and expansion came at the right time.

He put her on, and everything was going good until they got their raided by the principle. When asked for information on who supplied them in exchange for their records staying clean and no repercussions, both stayed silent. That was the first strike with her parents. Even though her boyfriend didn't snitch, he still couldn't handle things getting too hot. He eventually chickened out to "focus on his senior year and become someone his parents will be proud of." Fine by her.

When she got caught again, that was the second strike for her parents. Still, someone noticed her loyalty. Once she graduated high school, they snatched her up and trained her. Hard. There were times she contemplated stopping while she was ahead, but she fought on and trained and improved and clawed her way up from a low level grunt to working directly under the Godfather. Her first kill didn't come without baggage, but it got easier as she moved up in rank because all she could think about was success. Now in present day, she expects to get her hands dirty and do her job as her family rises to the top. Meanwhile, her parents act like they never had a child.

Godfather/saved in her mind as: the big boss

Bobae wouldn't say he's a father figure or anything, but there's a lot of respect for him. When she was first brought to him for an upgrade from a low level bodyguard to his main killer, she expected him to take one look at her and dismiss her as some prissy little girl, sending her back to her parents or to an early grave. Instead, he recognized her for the battle-hardened badass that did more than enough to deserve that damn promotion.

Consort /saved in her mind as: turn up buddy

If Bobae wants to party with Jiji, Haejangguk needs be prepared early and put in the fridge for the inevitable hangover. She trusts her as much as someone should trust their crew. Sometimes, she'll leave Jiji chocolates, and Jiji will return the favor by leaving Bobae fried squid.

Father/Moon Tae Woo/owner of multiple restaurant chains/saved in her mind as: daddy dearest

The look on his face whenever Bobae ed up is the only thing that gave her pause, but she had come too far, so no backing out. She does miss their trips and forcing him to try new things together, like the time she begged him to agree to try bungee jumping one day. Too bad they never got to do it. Tae Woo is a pleasant man, if a little neurotic and old fashioned, and all things considered, Bobae loves him. It just that she loves the dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, and endorphins released from running  in the mafia a little more.

Mother/Moon Tae Hee/stock investor/saved in her mind as: mother dearest

Bobae has her to think for her expensive tastes. "Never forget to treat yourself, Bobae-yah" is one of her earliest memories of her mother. She's a hustler who worked multiple jobs before she met Bobae's father, so she knows the value of a dollar. Sometimes, she meets with Bobae to give her expensive chocolates and ask her to come home. Bobae just smiles and offers to buy her a meal.

PeRSONaLITY.

He's a smug bastard who has a reason to be. His intelligence will get him far. Plus, his suit game is impeccable. She hasn't seen him in a bad, ill fitted one yet.

lovestory.

Junho isn't the straight laced businessman he presents to the public. He has some kind of deal with the Godfather that not everyone in the crew is privy to, with Bobae being one of the few since she was brought along to a meeting between the two, an intimidation tactic she's sure.

"Moon Bobae, right? Daughter of Kim Tae Woo, owner of  the  famous BBQ restaurant chains? Skipped out on college? Disowned by your family?"

She didn't act surprised at Junho's information, just complimented him on his Korean seeing as he was adopted by two White Americans from a very young age, and he told her he made sure to know about his heritage with a slight smirk, and then she commended him for not forgetting who he is. They would've went on if the Godfather didn't put an end to things so they could get back to business. He made a comment about Bobae and Junho flirting on their own time, and well, they actually took him up on that.

Junho asks her out for dinner. She accepts, and he flies her out to LA. "You know this can't go anywhere, right?" She tells him before the first appetizer. He just smiles that beautiful smile of his and pours more wine. That night and many other nights after, she lets him rock her world. Sue her. She knows the only reason the Godfather is allowing them to mix business with pleasure is because it keeps Junho close. Junho knows it too. Guess they both like playing on the edge.

theending.

He definitely puts all types of thoughts in her head about betraying the Godfather. She thinks about it but still makes sure to record their convos for leverage against him. Whether they go through with anything and end up together is up to you.
