Background

Go Iseul was born on March 4th, 1992, in Pohang, South Korea. Iseul always had an interest in music and singing, even before she could walk she was known to sing herself to sleep and babble along to the music her parents would play for her. As she got older, her love for singing only grew. Iseul found an old tape recorder and started to use it to record herself and monitor her singing, making adjustments where she saw fit. Though she never got proper lessons when she was younger, this process really helped her develop her skills as a vocalist. Singing slowly but surely became her passion and she knew from a young age that if given the chance, she would want to grow up to make music.

 

By the time Iseul entered middle school she was known by her friends and peers to be a pretty decent singer. It didn’t take long before she was approached by one of her classmates and asked to join their band as the vocalist, to which Iseul quickly agreed as she always took every opportunity she could to sing, and saw this as a massive one. The members of the band seemed to mesh together really well and not too long after Iseul joined, they decided to enter a local competition for young bands, and to their surprise, they won. After winning, the band was given an opportunity to attend another competition in the nations capital, Seoul to which they all agreed within a heart beat.

 

Iseul was awestruck when she arrived in Seoul. The city was so big and nothing like her hometown at all. Durning her short time there, thirteen year old Iseul fell in love with Seoul. The band had a blast performing at the competition but sadly, didn’t win. On their way out of the competition, Iseul and her mother were approached by a man who said he was a scouting agent for Y.I Entertainment and strongly urged Iseul to audition for the company. Iseul was overjoyed at the idea of a company wanting her to audition for them, but her mum was a little skeptical. They took the mans card and headed back to their hotel room where Iseul kept bothering her mother to call and let her audition for them. Even with her mums skepticism, it didn’t take long for her to give into the young girl and give them a call. They arranged a time to meet and have Iseul audition for the company the next day. Iseul was over the moon and quickly started preparing for her audition.

 

The audition process wasn’t a necessarily a long one for Iseul. After her initial audition at the company, a representative or Y.I Entertainment was quick to tell Iseul that they would love to take her on as a trainee, and much to Iseul’s delight, her mother agreed to take the contract home to talk it over with Iseul’s father. It wasn’t too long after Iseul and her mother returned to Pohang that her parents agreed to allow her to become a trainee as long as she kept in contact with them almost daily and continued her schooling career. And with that, Iseul packed her bags and was on her way to Seoul alone to become a trainee under Y.I Entertainment.

 

Iseul was a trainee for four years under Y.I Entertainment before debuting in their first ever group, Sowon. A year after her debut with Sowon, Iseul graduated high school and as Sowon wasn’t doing as well as she hoped, she decided to attend university to get a degree she could use to get a job if things were to fall apart. Iseul graduated from university with a degree in translation in 2012. Not long after graduating university, Sowon started to gain popularity and idol life seemed like a more viable career for her. It really started to seem like Iseul would be able to do the thing she had wanted to do since she was a young girl. So in 2013, Iseul decided to enter university for a second time, this time deciding to go for a degree related to her passion. She went on to earn a degree in music and sound production that she graduated from with high distinctions in 2015.

Iseul was a trainee for four years.
She attended university twice and earned two degrees. One in translation (Korean, English, and Japanese) and another in music and sound production.

Iseul is gay and has slowly opened up to her members about this over the years as they are her family.

She currently lives with another member/members of Sowon (as she hates living alone).
Iseul has a chow chow she got in 2016 called Danbi. She chose the name Danbi as it was pouring rain the day she got him and Danbi translates to 'sweet rain'.
Iseul's favourite Sowon tracks to perform are 'Kissing You', 'Oh!', 'Gun', and 'Someone Like You'.
Iseul's favourite solo songs to perform are 'Bloom', 'Jam Jam', and 'Blue Moon'.

Iseul seldom drives. That being said, she has a lisence and a car and will use them if needed, she just prefers not to.
Since Iseul doesn't drive, she brought an apartment within walking distance from the Wish Entertainment building.

Iseul used a clear phonecase in which she keeps a photo card of a random Sowon member, often swaping it out. Her wallpaper on the othe hand is a photo of her dog, Danbi with the members of Sowon.
She has collected all photo cards from Sowon's early albums and now asks for a full set of them from the staff of Wish Entertainment.

She has a collection of ever single solo release from the members of Sowon.

She really want's to visit Australia and New Zeland for a holiday (and not work).

If given the chance to do a special stage at a Sowon event, she would like to perform Heart Attack by Loona's Chuu.

Iseul tries to travel back to Pohang as much as she possibly can, often dragging some of her members with her.

Iseul's parents have always been her number one fans and supporters. She is super close with them and tends to at least message them everyday as well as calling them for long chats when she can. Sadly though, Iseul isn't able to spend as much time with them face to face as she would like as they still live in Pohang. They do travel up to Seoul as often as they can, attending all of Sowon's and Iseul's concerts and events that they can. Over the years, Kyungsook and Jungho have also become very close to the members of Sowon and see them as their own daughters. They currently own a BBQ resturant in Pohang that is full of Sowon and Iseul pictures.

 

Furbaby / Go Danbi / Three / Best Boy

For all intents and purposes, Danbi is Iseul’s baby. Iseul spoils him constantly and takes him anywhere she can with her. You can often see Danbi really anywhere Iseul is. She is known to take him along to any schedules she can and he can often be spotted in the Wish Entertainment building often hanging around Iseul or the other members of Sowon. Danbi is most comfortable around the members of Sowon (and Sowon’s staff) as he has spent a large portion of his life around them. Iseul has gone as far as to place pet beds, water dishes and some toys around the Wish Entertainment building (the practice room, her production room, the office) for Danbi to use while they are at the building.

Iseul really admires the members of Sowon as she has spent over ten years with the girls. Although they have had their ups and downs, her love for the girls has never faltered. Iseul is the type that also loves spending her free time with her members as she sees them more as family than just workmates and would spend every second with them if she could. Being on the older side of of the members, Iseul has always made herself avalible to the girls for support and guidence. Tha being said, Iseul has also found herself reling on the girls every so often for support as well. At this point, Iseul genuenly feels like she would be lost without the other girls in her life.

 

Close Friend / Park Yujin / Twenty-nine / Former member of Sowon

Iseul and Yujin have managed to stay in contact through the years since Yujin left Sowon and remained close friends. Iseul always kind of understood why Yujin wanted out and why she had to do what she did to get an out. After Yujin left Swowon, Iseul would often still depend on her for advice to help with the younger members, which Yujin was more than happy to give. Despite not being a member of Sowon anymore, Yujin was always there for Iseul to lean on, especially in the early years after the older girl left.

Iseul and Eunhye originally met when Iseul joined her friends band in middle school as Eunhye was the bassist of the band. The two hit it off almost immedietly and were almost immediately inseparable. When Iseul was scouted after the bands performance in Seoul, Eunhye was the first member to congratulate her and celebrate the fact that Iseul was given such an amazing oppitunity. Even though Iseul moved to Seoul when she was thirteen, the two still managed to stay close throughout the years. When Eunhye moved to Seoul after finishing high school, the two were still unable to meet up due to Sowon's schedule and Y.I's ridiculous restrictions. Iseul and Eunhye have spent so much time together at this point that fans of Sowon have come to know her as a close friend of Iseul.

Close Friend / Kim Youngbin / Twenty-six / Member of SF9 / ISFP

Iseul and Youngbin originally met in early 2017 when SF9 were recording their title track 'Easy Love' which was produced by Iseul. Iseul remembers thinking to herself that Youngbin seemed like a nice person and a good leader to the other members of SF9 but nothing more came of it. It wasn't until Iseul was invited to go and visit the members while practicing 'Easy Love' that the two really started talking and managed to get along quite well. The two of them exchanged numbers and started to contact eachother as friends from then on. Over the years Iseul and Youngbin have become quite close. Iseul became someone Youngbin could go to for advice on things relating to leader duties and Youngbin became someone Iseul could rely on to listen.

 

Beloved dongsangs / IZ*ONE

After becoming one of the vocal trainers for Produce 48, Iseul started spending a long time with the contestants and eventually began to love them like they were her own younger sisters. Iseul is constantly supporting and promoting IZ*ONE and is always wishing the best for the members. She would say she has a decent relationship with all of the girls, even if she doesn’t contact all of them the same amount. The ones she is most close with out of the IZ*ONE members would be Sakura, Chaeyeon and Yujin.

 

Ex-bandmate / Lee Yuri / Twenty-four / Former member of Sowon

Yuri and Iseul never really vibed well since their trainee days, dispite Iseul's best efforts. Iseul would always try her best to get closer to Yuri, but the younger girl always seemed like she had a wall up and like she never really liked Iseul. After the confrontation and fight that caused Yuri to leave Sowon, Iseul hasn't kept in contact with her and never really mentioned her to anyone besides the members. Of course she would like to make things right one day, but she just can't being herself to do that quite yet as she still sees what Yuri did as a massive betrayal to the members of Sowon and still is yet to forgive her.

- Became a trainee in 2005 under YI Entertainment at age 13

- Despite the slightly questionable treatment from YI, Iseul stayed with them

- Debuted as one of the main vocalists of Sowon in 2009

- After U.Jin left, Iseul took it upon herself to take care of the younger members. She took on kind of an oldersister role with them upon becoming leader.

- After Sowon released their breakthrough hit ‘Oh!’, YI decided to debut Iseul solo with the title track '미쳐가' (Going Crazy) to decent success.
- She released a repackaged follow up track 'Papparazzi'.

Iseul started training under Y.I Entertainment in 2005 when she was only thirteen years old. Initially, Iseul found training quite hard. She had never been that far from her family and didn't really feel like she had anyone to lean on. For a while, she decided to keep to herself and focus hard on training and her schooling but she quickly learnt that this only made things more hard. She slowly but surely started opening up to the other trainees around her and made fast friends with some of them. She was often grouped together with another vocal trainee, Lee Yuri who seemed to want nothing to do with her. This didn't stop Iseul in trying her best to become friends with the younger girl, but no matter how hard she tried, Yuri's attitude and demeanour towards Iseul never seemed to change. At the time, Iseul brushed it off as Yuri was young... But things never really got better.

This of course used to take a toll on her when she was younger, but as she got older she sarted to care less and less about what other thought and even came to her own defence in 2016 by speaking out against those who attacked her over the years.

 

Rumours surrounding Iseul's relationsip with former member Yuri / 2009 - Present
From the start of Sowon it was quite obvious that there was some tension surrounding some of the member, Iseul and Yuri being two of them. Iseul would try her best to be friends with Yuri, but even so, rumors began to spread. Even after leaving the group some people still mention the relationship between Yuri and Iseul. It tends to become a hot topic whenver Iseul does something Sowon related and happens to include Yujin but not Yuri such as making posts about the group or even when she got her tattoo.

 

Sowon's Iseul to leave the group and focus on her solo and producing career? / 2017

A rumor started to spread that Iseul was going to leave Sowon to focus on her solo career and was qucikly picked up by some gossip sites. This was of course false as the thought had never crossed Iseul's mind and never has since.
